Ren Nora snuck out and visited Leon’s room around 11:03pm.

By then, the Mechanist was yet to sleep and he was still working with his A.I, drawing and connecting lines on a familiar digital board.

"You’re not asleep".

The sudden sound in his room at first sent a chill down Leon’s spine as his whole body turned cold. ’Who is it? An assassin?’

But then when he calmed down and used his brain, he relaxed as he knew who it was immediately. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"You finally made your decision?"

Leon calmly dropped the digital pen and turned to look at the rebel leader.

He was not surprised that Ren Nora managed to find out where he was staying. Afterall, this was his city.

Unlike his usual militaristic-styled slightly flamboyant dressing, Ren Nora was in an all-black attire and a black hood that concealed all the eye-catchy traits of his body. He looked like a tramp living on the streets now.

Leon chuckled once he saw him. "You’re really good at disguise".

"When you grew up the way I did and in the environment that I did, you’ll naturally learn to disguise yourself".

Curious, Leon asked. "Where did you grow up?"

Ren Nora waved it off. "We can discuss about my life if and when we survive today, I don’t have a lot of time with you".

He looked at his digital wristwatch. "I have less than 2 hours before my Lieutenants will determine that something is wrong".

Leon nodded calmly, then he gestured for the General to sit on the only chair in the room while he sat on top his bed.

He looked at Ren Nora. "What do you want to discuss? I already told you everything that there is to know about my plan".

Ren Nora grinned. "But that was in front of Major Kai, I know you held a lot of details back and that’s why I came here".

"This is what you wanted, right?" He shrugged. "We’re alone now, let’s discuss".

Leon glanced at his window and understanding his silent question, Ren Nora nodded. "Don’t worry, I already isolated this room and the local LAN from outside interference and listening ears".

"We’re alone".

’How did he do it?’ Leon thought curiously but he didn’t ask.

He calmly nodded, then he squatted and pulled out 2 boxes from under his bed. Inside the boxes were large piles of documents and papers.

"Like I told you, I’ve been observing and planning since Day 1 of entering this city". Leon grinned. "For this plan, I had to go old school and document my thoughts out on paper because I have too many thoughts on the plan".

"Afterall, like you said this is an ambitious plan. I can’t afford to make a mistake no matter how tiny it is because I was too lazy to write it down".

"A single mistake can be the difference between success and failure".

Leon pushed the two boxes to Ren Nora. "Read".

About 2 hours later, Ren Nora sat in silence in the room as he looked at the mercenary with a twinkle in his emerald eyes.

Ren Nora leaned forward, maintaining eye contact with the mercenary, then he asked. "What do you want?"

Leon grinned. "Now you’re talking".

"I won’t stand on ceremony, you should know the difficulty of what I’m about to embark on and the risk involved".

His face turned serious. "I need all the Advanced Mechanist Knowledge and if possible useful blueprints that your army has, every knowledge so long it’s related to engineering will be appreciated".

"I rate myself highly, I honestly believe I’m the best E Rank Ascended there is and ever has been," Leon boasted shamelessly with an unfazed expression. "But I still believe that there’s room for improvement, and I won’t shy from it".

"Afterall, I’m not going against a bunch of E Ranks or even a D Rank Ascended this time, I’m targeting a C Rank Ascended".

"Also, I need unrestricted authority to access the data centers and hardware warehouses in the city to start working on the trap. The earlier I start, the better, and you must make sure that I stay unseen and unanimous".

"We don’t want the Federation Army catching on to the fact that something is wrong. Apart from you and Major Kai, nobody should know".

Ren Nora took a deep breath, then he replied. "Done".

Leon’s lips curled up slightly. "I will do everything in my power to protect you and make sure that you complete the C Rank Ascended Trial".

Ren Nora’s lips curled up in a teasing manner as he asked. "Till death?"

"Till death". Leon responded seriously.

Ren Nora’s lips twitched. "On one hand, my instincts keep on telling me that I’m making a grave mistake," he chuckled. "I’m literally going against all the rules and principles that brought me to where I am today".

"I’ve always had to rely on myself, my wits, and my own power".

"But on the other hand," he sighed. "My brain tells me that this is the only way for me to succeed, a f*cking gamble".

"It’s so f*cking messed up". He cursed softly.

Leon stayed quiet for a few seconds, then he said. "Sometimes, to leave our shells and truly break our limits, we have to take risks and gamble".

Ren Nora’s lips twitched again as he stared at the mercenary. "What are you? A salesperson? You’re really slick with your words and it makes me regret doing this even more".

In response, Leon just chuckled.

Ren Nora didn’t say more as he stood up and turned his back to Leon.

He contemplated in silence for a few seconds, then he said. "I don’t yet trust you, but I believe in your plan".

Ghost-in-the-Machine!

The NetRunner suddenly disappeared like he was erased from the world by an eraser.

Later that night, around 4:05am, a gray box suddenly appeared in Leon’s room on his desk.

The moment the box appeared, he woke up.

Leon quickly walked up to his window, drawing the curtain down after making sure that no one was watching then he approached the box and opened it with a soft sound.

Leon’s eyes widened the moment he opened the box, there were 13 golden Knowledge Scrolls inside!

Despite his already high expectations, he was stunned. ’Ren Nora really went all out huh?’

’What a decisive man!’ He was excited.

Apart from the knowledge scrolls inside, there were a few blueprints.

The ChronoSystem lit up with a series of notifications.
