Reborn as a Mechanist with a God-Tier System-Chapter 320 - 3 days later
3 days later.
31st August, Year 714 A.G.
Inside a self-sustaining Town far away from any major city in the West...
VROOM!
A familiar super bike drove into the Town as the sight of it made the Geneform children in the streets go into a frenzy, shouting and running after the bike in an excited manner as the bike rider deliberately slowed down.
"Helmet man!"
"Helmet man!"
"Helmet man!" They chanted excitedly as they ran after the bike.
The bike rider was garbed in a brown camouflage military trouser with a plain brown short-sleeved polo shirt, exposing his black skin.
He wore black gloves on both hands, and he wore a black durag with dark shades that gleamed as he drove off. He also wore a black backpack.
The children called him Helmet man because the first time that they saw him, he wore a helmet but he didn’t wear a helmet today.
He drove into the Town and stopped in front of the only restaurant available. The moment he stopped, the children also finally caught up with him as they stopped to catch their breaths, panting heavily but still smiling brightly.
He skillfully parked the bike and stood upright, then he removed his dark shades and faced the children with a smile.
"Helmet man!" The children cheered excitedly.
He didn’t answer them as instead with a pleased grin, he placed his hands into his pocket and brought out sweets for them, patiently distributing the sweets between all of them. He had a sweet for every single one of them.
Only after distributing the sweets did he pursue them off and finally enter the restaurant to eat.
The moment he entered inside the restaurant, he glanced around at the mercenaries and adventurers who were seated at various corners. Most of them were oblivious, but those of them that knew glanced at him warily.
He ignored all the stares and went straight to the receptionist at the counter. "1 bottle of chilled beer, and the normal food". He said and gently placed a few pounds on the desk.
"Yes sir". The receptionist quickly nodded and attended to him.
Less than 2 minutes later, his food was ready and he dug in immediately, eating without a care of the world as the people in the restaurant kept on throwing wary glances at him.
The people in the restaurant were not the only ones watching him though.
Far above the restaurant, inside a stealth aircraft, a few Ascended also watched him.
Bzzz!
Thousands of meters in the sky, the Zerphyr-7 Stealth Reconnaissance UAV made no sound as it quietly hovered above the Town.
"That’s him right?" Daren broke the silence and asked.
Leon nodded. "Yeah, that’s him".
"Lieutenant Colonel Umar Farouq," Talia muttered as she read through his profile that was projected by the stealth aircraft again.
3 days ago, after the duel against Colonel Alphonse that Leon won convincingly, since then something changed.
No one said it explicitly, but since seeing their friend defeat a military legend that they all saw as their superior, the crew finally accepted the truth that Leon truly was now on a level far beyond them.
And with that realization and acceptance, the respect came naturally.
No one said it, but everyone agreed that he was now the leader of the crew. Talia didn’t even protest it, she also agreed naturally.
Despite the fact that Leon refrained from dealing too much damage to the Colonel, Colonel Alphonse still took 2 days to completely recover from the injuries that he suffered during the duel.
This once again showed the vulnerability of Ascended who were not Gene Augurs.
Of course, Leon was an anomaly.
Though he didn’t suffer much injuries in the first place, for all the mental damage that he suffered from the Colonel, he recovered from all of them in mere hours which was another aspect of him that shocked the Colonel.
Despite losing to him though, Colonel Alphonse was not bitter as he accepted the situation calmly, reminding him to spend time in Canyon Hub and enjoy the city all-expense-paid for as long as he wanted.
Well, Leon was not one to reject free favors. Afterall, he was a D Rank Mechanist who was knee-deep in dept.
And so they spent 3 days in Canyon Hub, 3 days that Tyla kept on calling him every single day and threatening to come to Canyon Hub to meet him.
The only reason why she wasn’t taking any drastic action yet was because Talia kept her updated about Leon’s situation.
Leon didn’t know since when, but somehow, the 2 ladies seemed to have become instant best friends after meeting just once.
Leon didn’t spend the past 3 days just relaxing and enjoying himself in Canyon Hub though. The fact that it was his first battle as a D Rank Mechanist meant that he learned a lot from the duel against Colonel Alphonse.
When Leon upgraded the Doom Rover v0.2s and constructed all his new D Rank blueprints, he simply worked with his imagination and directly bought most of the add-on weapons from Leviathan Quay.
Only when he truly fought with them did he realize just how lethal the vibro-blades of the Skirmisher Class Doom Rovers were against NetRunners.
This was why in the past 3 days, apart from relaxing and enjoying himself with the crew, he also worked on reverse-engineering the blueprint of the vibro-blades to get the blueprint for himself.
With Deconstruct, he was able to do it easily, getting another blueprint and with the offer from Colonel Alphonse, he was able to get the materials that he needed to construct his very first set of personal vibro-blades.
DING!

Also, after the battle against Colonel Alphonse, just like Leon expected, his Ascended Counter increased again for the first time in forever.
It increased by a whopping +77 after the duel.
This confirmed many things for him. On one hand, it confirmed that as a Warmachine Specialist, he really did need to fight more to develop his Ascended Counter.
On the other hand, it also confirmed that to truly grow his Ascended Counter fast, he didn’t just need to fight, he needed to kill and properly make it high-profile just like Ren Nora suggested.
And this was part of the reason why he was now seeking out Lieutenant Colonel Umar Farouq 3 days after the duel.
During the past 3 days, he already told the crew about his insane ambition of assassinating the richest man in the world.
At first, when they heard it, the entire crew was stunned.
They thought that he must be going insane, but when they remembered his duel against the Colonel they were tongue-tied.
Well, in the end, Leon managed to create his crew for the mission of assassinating Bill Zefyr easily as every single member of the Wraith Cell-9 crew agreed to be part of his crew.
Brick said it was likely going to be his final mission before he retired.
But this was not the only reason why Leon finally decided to stalk Lt. Colonel Umar Farouq though. Partially, it was because the Lt. Colonel refused to respond to his request to meet after Colonel Garfield connected both of them.
But the main truth and motivation for stalking the Lt. Colonel was because after 3 days, Colonel Alphonse finally found out the identity of the Federation soldier who was in charge of Parasite’s slave trade.
His name is Joe Curry.
