Reborn as a Transcendent-Chapter 671: Gathering of Apostles, Angelica’s Battle
Angelica’s room was almost as spacious as the master bedroom, furnished with a large bed, wardrobe, dresser, and two nightstands. It felt rather plain. If not for the makeup scattered across the dresser, Yaeger would never have guessed it belonged to a girl.
“Princess, I’m not mentally ready for this…” Angelica stood frozen near the bed, her voice trembling with anxiety.
“It’ll be over quickly. No preparation needed,” Yaeger replied flatly.
“But… I’m really shy,” Angelica whispered, her fingers twisting the hem of her skirt as she stared down.
“We’re both girls. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.” Yaeger stepped closer and gently stroked her hair. “Trust me, I’ll make sure you’re completely satisfied.” After all, what woman could resist the chance to become even more beautiful?
‘Wait… I’m not even a girl!’ A flicker of discomfort passed through Yaeger’s heart. Her thoughts had flowed too naturally, like any ordinary girl’s, and it unsettled her.
‘Satisfied?’ That single word had sparked all kinds of wild fantasies in Angelica’s mind. Her face burned red, practically steaming from embarrassment and excitement.
"That's right. I'm already quite proficient at this, so there's nothing to worry about," Yaeger said with a confident nod.
"Proficient?" Angelica echoed softly, her voice faltering. ‘How can she be so experienced with something like this?'
Her thoughts wandered to Lili. If she remembered correctly, Lili had been with Princess that night… staying under the same roof. It wasn’t hard to connect the dots. Of course, they must have had that kind of relationship.
Jealousy pricked her heart, a sharp sting of sour emotion rising up. But just as quickly as it came, it vanished. ‘Angelica, don’t be stupid. Someone like her is destined to be surrounded by others. You’re lucky she even notices someone like you. Be grateful!'
She clenched her fists slightly as if scolding herself. The storm of emotion passed, and her gaze softened again.
“We don’t have much time, so let’s begin right away,” Yaeger said, her tone calm and composed.
Angelica snapped out of her daze and looked up, confused. “Princess, what should I do?” Although she didn’t feel mentally ready, she knew she had to give it her all when the time came. Princess was experienced, after all. If she followed her instructions, the result would no doubt be rewarding for both of them.
“Take off your clothes and lie on the bed,” Yaeger instructed, her voice steady and sure.
“Y-Yes!” Angelica bit her lip, trying to suppress the nerves and anticipation fluttering in her chest. In a flurry of movement, she undressed, soon standing bare, her figure as exposed as a newborn’s.
Yaeger examined her closely and quickly formed a plan. “Lie down,” she said. In just a few moments, she had already assessed every part of Angelica’s body that needed attention.
In truth, very few areas didn’t require correction. Years of fishing had left Angelica’s body covered in minor injuries, and her sun-kissed skin, once fair, had taken on a deeper tone after long days outdoors.
Yaeger preferred pale complexions with a warm undertone. While she didn’t mind a bit of tan, it wasn’t her favorite. So she had already decided that Angelica would be getting a full makeover.
“Princess, I’m on the bed… what now?” Angelica asked nervously, lying flat with her hands clasped tightly.
“Just relax and lie still,” Yaeger said. As she spoke, her hands began to glow with green flames, and her eyes lit up with a luminous green hue.
Seeing the glow, realization struck Angelica. Her face turned crimson. ‘Oh no, this is so embarrassing!’ She wanted to bury herself on the spot. She knew exactly what this was. The green energy was meant for healing, and Princess’s so-called reward was simply a rejuvenation treatment.
“I’m starting now.” Yaeger placed both hands on her, sending warm, radiant life energy surging into her skin.
The gentle touch of Yaeger’s hands sent Angelica’s heart into a frenzy. ‘It’s her hands—this is too much!’ As the warmth spread through her body, waves of strange but undeniable pleasure followed. Her breathing grew shallow, and soft, involuntary sounds escaped her lips.
After thirty minutes, Yaeger finally withdrew her hands and let out a soft breath. The green flames faded, and her eyes returned to normal. Lying before her was a girl as breathtaking as a finely sculpted work of art. Without close inspection, no one would recognize her as Angelica. She had transformed completely, like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon.
“Is it over?” Angelica blinked slowly, her new beauty made even more radiant by that simple motion. She was like a masterpiece come to life.
“Yes. Absolutely perfect,” Yaeger said with clear satisfaction.
Angelica stepped off the bed and walked to the dresser. The moment she looked into the mirror, she nearly fainted. The beautiful woman staring back at her couldn’t possibly be… her.
“Do you like your reward?” Yaeger asked with a soft smile.
“I love it!” Angelica cried, nodding furiously as tears streamed down her cheeks. In that moment, she truly felt reborn, as if she transformed from a humble caterpillar into a radiant butterfly.
“You already had a strong foundation. I just made some improvements,” Yaeger said as she approached for one last check. “Yes, everything’s in place.”
“Thank you, Princess!” Angelica cried and threw her arms around her, hugging her tightly in joy.
“As long as you’re happy,” Yaeger said with a calm smile, returning the embrace.
Angelica finally pulled away, her face flushed as she stepped back shyly. “Princess… do I really look beautiful now?”
“You do. Very much so,” Yaeger answered without hesitation.
Hearing those words, Angelica felt as though she had fallen into a pool of honey. Her heart overflowed with sweetness.
“It’s getting late. Go get ready,” Yaeger said, patting her gently on the shoulder. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
“Okay!” Angelica replied enthusiastically, already recalling their upcoming training.
With that, Yaeger stepped out and quietly closed the door behind her.
"I don't really enjoy fighting, but if Princess wants me to grow stronger, then there has to be a reason." Angelica whispered as she looked toward the door, her expression filled with determination.
Deep within the dark forest at the border of the Jade Empire, a pitch-black altar stood in silence. Gathered around it were more than a dozen robed men, each with skin marked by ominous star-shaped blemishes. Had Yaeger been present, she would have immediately recognized them as apostles.
"Number Ten’s jade medallion shattered. He’s dead," said a bald man flatly.
"Wasn’t he sent to the Imperial Docks to continue Number Eleven’s mission? How could he be dead?" asked a middle-aged woman beside him, her heavily made-up face wrinkled in confusion.
"Exactly. Number Ten was stronger than Number Eleven, and his shard was larger too. If he faced a stronger opponent, he could’ve used the shard to escape," said a pale-faced man in his fifties across from her.
"Maybe he died because he was careless. He always was too arrogant," sneered a hooded figure.
"They both died at the same transmission point. What a cursed location," muttered a long-nosed elderly woman, shaking her head beside him.
"Only Numbers Eleven and Ten encountered trouble, correct?" asked a young man with a piercing gaze, his back still to the altar. As soon as he spoke, the others turned toward him with grave expressions. Clearly, he was the leader.
"Yes, Number One," the bald man confirmed.
"They both died at the same location. That’s suspicious," the young man said, stroking his chin. "Number Nine, disguise yourself and investigate the area. Report back as soon as you uncover anything."
"Understood," the hooded man replied with a slight nod.
"If there’s nothing more, this meeting is over." He looked around the circle with sharp eyes. No one spoke. "Dismissed."
As soon as he finished speaking, the robed figures dispersed into the darkness, leaving him alone before the altar.
"Lord Reaper’s avatar will descend soon. When that happens, my wish will finally come true." He stood and looked up at the looming black altar, fists clenched. Hatred laced every word that left his mouth.
Ten kilometers from Aoma Village, deep within the forest, Yaeger pointed casually at a massive black bear nearby. "I’ll weaken it first. Then you’ll take over."
Angelica’s legs trembled as she looked at the towering, muscular black bear that stood over two meters tall. ‘It’s terrifying… I can’t beat something like that.' She was already losing her nerve before the fight even began.
"Don’t worry. I won’t let anything happen to you," Yaeger said reassuringly.
"I’ll do my best!" Angelica replied, giving herself a quick slap on the cheeks to snap out of it. She forced herself to focus and summon her courage.
The black bear caught their scent and let out short, eager roars as it stomped forward.
"You’re eager for death, aren’t you?" Yaeger remarked with a calm smile.
Mid-sprint, the bear suddenly sensed overwhelming danger and instinctively turned to flee, but its limbs were already tightly bound. It glanced down and saw multiple translucent tentacles coiled tightly around its limbs. With a powerful tug, they dragged the beast across the ground.
In an instant, the black bear found itself caught in a relentless storm of fists. Blow after blow landed until it was barely clinging to life, its health reduced to just a sliver.
"Angelica, finish it," Yaeger said, letting the tentacles fall away.
"Right!" Angelica gripped her longsword tightly, her face set with determination. ‘You can do this. Don’t mess up now!' With that, she stepped forward and entered her first real battle.
To be fair, this wasn’t technically her first fight. Most villagers near the docks had fended off small sea creatures since childhood. But facing a powerful Magic Beast like this was an entirely different challenge.
"Ahhh!" Angelica charged forward and slashed at the black bear. Despite its weakened state, the beast sensed danger at the last moment and rolled away, narrowly dodging the blow.
Angelica missed but didn’t hesitate. She turned quickly and pressed the attack.
The bear, furious that such a weak creature dared challenge it, forgot all about Yaeger. It lunged, intending to crush her with a single blow and flee. But Yaeger intervened at just the right moment, her tentacle snapping forward and throwing the beast off balance, exposing a fatal opening.
Angelica seized the chance without hesitation. She thrust her sword forward with all her strength. In a clean strike, the blade pierced the bear’s throat and crimson blood burst from the wound.
The bear twitched a few times before collapsing completely.
"I did it! Princess, I killed it!" Angelica cried out as she pulled her blade free.
"Yes. Well done," Yaeger said with a nod.
Angelica’s heart swelled with joy at the rare praise.
"How did the fight feel?" Yaeger asked.
"I was scared at first, but once I got into it, I felt amazing! Especially when I landed that final blow, my blood was boiling!" Angelica beamed as she walked over. She had never felt such exhilaration doing anything else.
"Hold on to that feeling, and keep training." Yaeger gave her a firm tap on the shoulder, her tone serious.
"Understood!" Angelica responded with determination.
"Now let's move to a safer place," Yaeger said as she withdrew her hand.
"A safer place? Shouldn't we keep going here, Princess?" Angelica asked, confused.
Yaeger shook her head. "This area was just for helping you overcome your fear. The beasts around here are still too strong for you right now."
"You're right. I almost let my pride get ahead of me. You were the one who nearly killed that bear. I only finished it off," Angelica admitted, her excitement fading as she nodded firmly.
"Let's move." Yaeger turned and walked ahead, her steps graceful and steady. Angelica quickly followed after her.
A few minutes later, they arrived in a less dangerous part of the forest.
"Princess, I’m going in!" Angelica gripped her longsword tightly and stared nervously at the jackal ahead.
Yaeger had already decided she wouldn’t intervene this time.
Sensing the threat, the jackal snarled and rushed forward. Low-tier Magic Beasts like this one lacked intelligence. Most couldn’t even sense danger properly. That was why they often posed a greater threat to ordinary people than expected.
Angelica dashed ahead to meet its charge. After fighting that massive black bear earlier, most of her fear toward Magic Beasts had faded. Besides, Princess was right behind her. That gave her confidence.
‘There’s nothing to fear.' With a firm grip on her longsword, Angelica stepped forward and swung it down in an overhead arc. The jackal’s eyes narrowed as it dodged sharply to the right, narrowly evading the blade.
Missing the strike left Angelica wide open, exposing a clear weakness in her stance. The jackal recovered its footing and lunged forward without hesitation. It aimed to take her down with one deadly bite.
But Angelica suddenly smirked with confidence. She pivoted and slashed sideways with a swift horizontal swing. "You fell for it. This is the real strike!" she shouted.
The jackal was already too close to halt its charge. Blood sprayed as the jackal let out a sharp, agonized cry.
