Chapter 105: Ch 105: Mouse in a trap

"W-What happened...?"

The leader questioned as Jenna stumbled backward. Her wide eyes looked at the sleeping puppet in front of her.

"I-I don’t know. But we should start heading back now...are we missing someone?"

Jenna asked as she looked around. The group behind her consisted of ten people, but she could only count eight of them right now. Two had disappeared.

"Oh yeah. The kids said they found some amazing spots to harvest food, so they left to take care of it. You don’t have to worry about it."

The leader laughed off Jenna’s worries with ease, but instead of making her feel better, it worried her even more. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

She immediately grabbed the leader’s shirt and pulled him closer to her before she yelled at him.

"What do you mean they found ’amazing spots’ to harvest food? This is not a free-for-all. You can’t just...ugh, we need to find them and bring them back before anything happens."

She felt her heart growing cold. She had a feeling that she was going to get caught by Mark at this rate. And unlike last time, he would not let her leave with her limbs intact.

The leader noticed her panic and became a little suspicious.

"Why panic like this? It will be fine, right? As you said, Mark Dawnson is your fiancé. Surely he won’t punish kids because of their mistakes. You would be able to talk him out of it, right?"

The leader asked, and Jenna felt tongue-tied. She did not want to tell him the truth, but saying yes also felt like a lie.

In the end, she sighed and decided to ignore the topic.

"Let’s get the kids back. There are too many traps around this estate that they can trigger. It’s best if we don’t let them roam freely."

She told the group, and they sighed before agreeing to follow her and find the kids.

Jenna’s heart slowly calmed down, but her worries continued to multiply even after this.

"I finally caught the thieves. Let me see your face...kids? Where did you both come from?"

Clara asked as she picked up the lid of her trap and looked inside. But instead of rats or even other animals, she found teenagers struggling to get out.

"Tsk, let us out of here."

"We are going to complain about you to our leader, and he will teach you a lesson. Just wait till we get out..."

The kids sounded violent, but they were not able to do much. They did not have many abilities either, and Clara suddenly felt a little lost.

"Kids...where did they come from, and what should I do with them now?"

She questioned as the others around her caught up to her.

"Clara, you could learn to slow down a little...what do you have here?"

Lilianna asked as she looked at the kids as well. In fact, everyone was looking at the kids, who slowly came out of the trap and stood proudly in front of Clara and the others.

"You-! Is this any way to treat your fiancé’s saviours? We are going to complain to her, and she’s going to get mad at you."

"That’s right! All we wanted was some food and nothing else. You had no right to treat us like this."

The kids raged, holding their ground and making it seem like they were in the right.

Emperor made a ’tsk’ sound, and it was enough to scare the kids. They took a step back but still kept their cool.

"You are with my fiancé? How odd. I don’t have a fiancée as far as I can recall. So, which poor soul sent you here?"

Andrew asked, and his calm yet irritated expression made the kids in front of him pause. They looked at him and then at each other with surprised looks on their faces.

"You...don’t have a fiancée? How is that possible? Jenna surely said..."

Suddenly, things clicked in Andrew’s mind.

"Ah, so it was Jenna after all. I was wondering who could be sprouting such nonsense. Did you all ever think that she...lied to you?"

Andrew asked the teenagers, and they looked shocked.

"Jenna...lied? No way-! But she was able to gain access to this estate and also know various things. Are you lying to get out of your responsibility toward her? Poor Jenna. She got betrayed..."

The teenagers looked sorry and angry for Jenna’s sake. They were making things up on their own, and it was getting irritating for Andrew to keep explaining himself.

So he simply stepped forward and grabbed the first kid.

"I think we’ve had enough talk. Now, how about you show me the place where you are staying with Jenna? I would like to have a talk with her about everything. I don’t think she took my previous warning seriously."

Andrew told the teenagers, and they looked scared of him.

But they still held their ground and kept their heads high.

"We refuse. I don’t know what you are going to do to Jenna, but we won’t allow you to get to her and our other companions..."

They seemed firm, but Andrew just turned toward Clara.

"Clara, since they refuse to speak, can you do a quick check of the perimeter with your abilities? It would be quicker for us to find those people on our own."

Andrew told Clara, and she nodded before closing her eyes. She opened them within a minute and nodded toward Andrew.

"I found Jenna and her people. They are staying not too far away from here. What would you like to do with them?"

Clara asked, and Andrew straightened up.

"Well, what else can we do now? Let’s pay them a visit and have a small chat with them. I would like to hear from her own lips why she felt a need to come and use my name again."

The teenagers suddenly felt scared and sorry. They knew that what was happening was their fault, but they could not bring themselves to say anything anymore.
