Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 119: Ch : Snake’s Obsession- Part 2
"This is unfair. We cannot enter the space. How can the system allow such a thing to happen?"
"This was supposed to be a snake-and-ladder game. We were never told that the number of tiles would decrease. This is not fair."
People questioned as they pounded on the barrier to be allowed inside. They tried using their abilities, but it was of no use. The timer finally hit zero, and most people were left out of the safe zones.
Unfortunately, no matter how much they complained, there was no one to hear their cries of injustice. The system’s first priority was to make sure the game followed its set course.
[26 Players have been eliminated. Remaining players: 8]
[The Ninth round of rolling dice will start in 3...2...1...]
[The number of overall tiles will decrease to 2]
From here on, it was a matter of 50-50 whether someone would meet Andrew or not. The dice was rolled, and Andrew waited outside the snake space.
Three other people hesitated to follow him, but they followed him as well. Unlike him, they entered the space, wanting to make it their base before he could enter.
Andrew waited a few more minutes before he entered the space as well. Unfortunately, what he had thought would happen actually ended up happening.
[Ladder Snake level 26 has appeared]
The snake had devoured the unsuspecting players who entered before him, and the lack of participants had caused the Ladder Snake’s level to rise again.
It had been docile until now. But it jumped toward Andrew as soon as it noticed his presence.
Andrew jumped out of the way at the last second and held up his barrier. But the snake pounded hard on it, threatening to bury both Andrew and his barrier into the ground.
"Tsk, you are a stubborn mess."
Andrew complained, but the snake did not seem to care much for his complaints.
[Ladder Snake’s venom has landed on your shield. Shield durability will decrease to half.]
"Hmm, it seems like you have developed your skills specifically to counter me. Do you truly feel threatened by my presence?"
Andrew asked, but he did not get any answer. He sighed and decided to continue his fight against the Ladder Snake after dropping his barrier.
A gust of sharp wind kept the snake away, and the reptilian body looked around for an opening to exploit.
As soon as it found one, it decided to attack Andrew through that opening.
But Andrew had left that opening purposely as a trap, and the Ladder Snake fell for it and ended up delivering itself to him.
The spell Andrew cast engulfed the Ladder Snake’s mouth, causing blisters to appear, and the Ladder Snake let out a pained cry.
But Andrew did not stop. He continued to cast spell after spell on the soft mouth, and the Ladder Snake understood what he was doing.
It closed its mouth and tried to pull back, but the damage had already been done, and it started to stagger a little.
Before anyone could do anything else, the round ended and the space faded. However, Andrew had a feeling that the Ladder Snake was not done with him.
[6 Players have been eliminated. Remaining players: 2]
[The Final round of rolling dice will start in 3...2...1...]
[The number of overall tiles will decrease to 1]
Once again, the final dice did not appear too far away, and Andrew grabbed it in his hands. The semi-familiar weight grounded him, and he rolled it for the last time.
It landed on 3, but the number did not matter. There was only one tile to move toward, and both Andrew and the other person stepped onto it.
"Congratulations on making it to the end, my dear friend. But before we begin, I would like to advise you to step back. If you do, then we can split the prize half and half. I promise you this."
The other player stood strong and still with a small, harmless smile on his face. He extended a peace offering toward Andrew in hopes that Andrew would cooperate with him.
However, Andrew pretended he could not hear the other man, causing the man to stiffen.
"Excuse me... did you not hear me? I am offering you a peaceful solution to our current problem. Are you not going to reply?"
The man asked, now getting annoyed. But it was Andrew’s turn to give him an annoyed glance.
"I heard you just fine the first time. I just did not feel like answering your stupid questions."
Andrew told him with a straight face.
The smile on the other player’s face froze for a second.
"W-What did you say...?"
He asked in a hushed voice, almost as if he could not believe that someone would say something like this to him. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
However, Andrew ignored him even harder as he entered the last space.
"I would advise you to drop out right now. Otherwise, you will be in for a world of pain."
The other player did not regard Andrew’s words as important.
"Tsk, do you think you can spout anything and I would believe you? I am not going to back down, no matter what."
The man sounded confident, and Andrew realized that no matter what he said to him, there was no way he was going to listen now.
"Alright, suit yourself. You are free to do what you want."
They both entered the last space, and the notification appeared.
[The space you are on has been forcefully turned into a snake tile. Area of the tile has been increased from 10’X10’ back to 25’X25’]
"W-What is that?"
The unnamed player asked as he looked at the giant snake in front of him.
"That... is the final boss here. We only have two choices-either one of us gives up and allows the other to win, or one of us dies. Which one would you prefer more?"
Andrew asked as he kept an eye on the timer. It was ticking fast.
He could end the other player and thus forcefully end this round. But he still wanted to give the other player a chance to save his life.
