Liz aims her gun at the wounded Cero, and a shoulder charge from Roka knocks her off-balance, causing her shot to miss.

A sudden jerk of Cero's body caused Rea to shudder as the rest of the machete's blade had suddenly left his body.

Quickly realizing that there was nothing else she could do for him, Rea gulped, ordered Kris to press against Cero's wound, and ran towards the off-balance Liz.

Despite the fact that the Soldier's center of gravity was thrown off, with her back arched as if she was about to fall, the Commander struggled to steal the gun away.

Using Roka's grip to keep herself from falling to the ground, Liz went on the offensive with a devastating knee hit that landed on Roka's stomach, nearly causing her to barf.

The hit caused the Commander to let go of the Soldier's wrist, and the latter took aim. Before the gun could be aimed at Roka, Rea kicked that gun out of Liz's hand, sending it spinning in the air.

With two threats standing and one probably about to stand back up, the ends of the tentacle-like liaras stuck to Liz's body started expending more of the energy they held.

As long as they don't run out of energy, control over the Puppet will continue. The situation had veered for the worst, and the Puppeteer Leash turned off energy saving mode.

A punch with unprecedented speed landed on Roka's chin, causing her consciousness to waver.

Before the Commander or Rea could make a move, Liz's hands shot up to their throats.

Bulging veins appeared on her arms and the red light shining from her eyes grew more intense.

Rea gasped for air as her hands wrapped about the Soldier's wrist, trying but completely unable to free herself.

"Liz…!"

Her whole body was lifted off the ground while the Soldier squeezed her throat.

Roka tried to kick the Soldier, focusing on helping Rea rather than freeing her own throat.

The hit didn't even make the Soldier budge.

Rea's fist weakly knocked against the Soldier's arm.

"Stop…"

At once, both Rea and Roka lost consciousness.

The Soldier wasn't going to stop there.

The Soldier wouldn't have, had her ears not twitched due to the sound of grass being stepped on from behind.

Both Rea and Roka's unconscious bodies were let go of, and the approaching Kris's throat was grabbed in the same manner.

Unlike Rea and Roka, Kris wasn't seen as a threat. Which is why his body was let go of as soon as he fell unconscious.

With only one threat left, the Soldier picked up the mechanical machete that had been discarded, and turned in Cero's direction.

The bulging veins over Liz's body slowly shrunk.

Her fingers pulled on the mechanical machete's trigger, causing it to pull against her grip as a cloud of smoke left the exhaust.

The Soldier slowly walked towards the wounded Cero as more smoke exited the machete's exhaust.

It was when the Soldier was standing over Cero, with her feet on each side of him, with her hands wrapped around the machete's hilt, her fingers on the machete's trigger, and the tip of the machete's blade aimed at Cero's head, when the Puppeteer's Leash was most certain of its victory and of the eradication of its threats, that she appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, having stayed out of Liz's field of vision and in her blindspots the whole time.

Before the Solider could pull on the machete's trigger or realize the presence of a threat, a deadly uppercut landed, causing her eyes to roll back, her knees to hit the ground, and her body to follow shortly after.

"Brains over brawn, bitch." Raya sighed. "I'm glad she let go of them when she did though…"

While Cero still couldn't exactly move, his eyes had been wide open as Raya approached to deliver that left uppercut.

He had noticed her before he had gestured to Kris to go help.

Raya had remained hidden, just far away enough for Liz not to notice her, and just close enough that the gun in her right hand wouldn't miss.

For a while now, Raya had been aiming at the back of Liz's head. And had she not let go of Rea, Roka, or Kris's bodies when she did…

"Since those liaras use her brain to determine what a threat is and what isn't, as well as the nerve circuits already present… Shutting her down was one way to this." Raya whispered to herself. "That was close though." Her index finger, still on the gun's trigger, twitched. "Too close…"

Raya bent down, kneeling by Cero's side.
