Reborn as an Yandere : Yandere X Yandere-Chapter 234: Divination!
Chapter 234 - Divination!
As they were waiting for the teacher to arrive, Cassandra saw a good chance to talk to Esdeath. She quietly stood up from her seat, her face as expressionless as ever, and started walking toward the second last bench where Esdeath and Maruti were sitting.
There was no one near their bench, which made it a perfect spot to talk without anyone overhearing.
Maruti noticed Cassandra coming and gave her a cold glare without saying a word. Cassandra ignored it and calmly sat beside Esdeath.
Her face still didn't show any emotions as she slowly said, "Sister-in-law—"
But before she could even finish, Esdeath suddenly pulled out a gun out of nowhere and pointed it straight at Cassandra, shocking her and everyone who was watching.
Esdeath spoke coldly, without looking at her, "Don't you dare talk to me in class. We are not related by anything."
Cassandra just stared at her quietly. She didn't argue or speak back. After a few seconds of silence, she stood up without saying anything and walked back to her seat as if nothing happened.
"Got rejected huh?" Emma smirked and spoke first.
But Cassandra shook her head calmly, "No. She said not to talk in class. Maybe she wants me to talk in private."
"She never knows when to give up, does she?" Ethan thought and let out a dry laugh.
The classroom door opened and the teacher finally arrived. Everyone quickly stood up and greeted her together.
It was Aisey, the elemental magic teacher. She wasn't new. Everyone knew her well.
Her sharp eyes scanned the room until they landed on Esdeath sitting near the back. She asked in a strict voice, "Why are you wearing pants instead of a skirt? That's breaking the academy's uniform rules. Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're Lortell's wife now."
But Esdeath didn't seem to care. She didn't even look up properly. She poked her ear with her finger and then slowly pointed toward the second seat in the first row.
Aisey looked confused. "What?" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Esdeath finally answered, "First of all, I'm not wearing a short skirt to show off my skin. I'm covering it. And look at Calista. She's wearing a full nun robe. She's the one breaking the rules the most. If you want me to wear the proper uniform, then make her do it too."
The classroom became silent.
Some students looked at Calista sitting in the front row with her white robe and saint-like face. She didn't react or say anything.
"But she is a saintess!" Aisey raised her voice slightly, clearly confused and annoyed.
"Then I'm the demon king," Esdeath replied with a sarcastic smile.
Aisey stared at her for a few seconds, speechless. But deep down, she knew she couldn't do anything about troublesome girls like Esdeath. No matter what she said, it wouldn't make a difference.
"Okay class, today's topic will be wind magic," she said, trying to calm herself down and focus on the lesson. "Let's start with a basic wind magic called Wind Steps. This spell allows you to walk in the air."
Esdeath leaned forward a little, showing some interest. Maruti, who was usually bored, also looked curious. Both of them paid attention for once.
"And the last spell is called Wind Hurricane," Aisey continued. "It creates a huge tornado of wind. You can even enhance it further by mixing it with water magic. That turns it into a storm—a powerful mix of wind and water, like a typhoon!"
She started explaining slowly so that everyone could understand.
"To create a Wind Hurricane, you have to control your wind affinity. You must twist the wind at high speed, shape it with your mana, and guide its movement carefully..."
Her voice echoed through the quiet classroom as everyone listened closely.
After finishing the lesson, she grabbed her documents and smiled tiredly. "Well, that's it for today. We'll learn about the fire element tomorrow. If anyone has any questions, you can ask me in the office."
She waved her hand and walked out of the classroom. Some of the more playful students even called out, "Goodbye, teacher!" with teasing grins.
The next class began after a short break. This time, it was teacher Hestia—the commerce teacher.
Many students, especially the boys, were curious and excited. They had heard rumors that Hestia gave really useful tips on saving money and making a good life. But the moment she opened her mouth, the atmosphere changed. Especially for the girls—it was like a cold splash of water.
Hestia began her lecture with a soft but serious voice.
"The base of any good budgeting starts with respecting the man of the house. He is the one who earns, the one who faces stress and danger for the family. So, as women, our role is to give him peace at home. Make sure he doesn't feel troubled when he returns from work."
Some girls already began to look annoyed.
Hestia kept going, "A woman is the angel of the household. That's why the male students should learn more about commerce and budgeting. Their role is important in keeping the house running smoothly."
Maruti sighed and rubbed her forehead. "I keep forgetting we're in medieval times," she muttered as she looked at Esdeath with a blank face.
Esdeath gave a small nod and stood up from her seat. "Let's go," she said in a low voice.
Without saying anything else, both Esdeath and Maruti turned around and began walking toward the classroom door.
"Hey! Where are you two going?" Hestia raised her voice, trying to stop them.
But neither of them replied. They didn't even look back.
They left the classroom just like that, ignoring the teacher and walking down the hallway side by side.
-----------------
"I found one! I found one!" Maruti shouted excitedly, waving her arms as she called out to Esdeath.
They were both in the forest, but not too deep—just far enough to hunt some monsters without getting into real danger. The trees around them were tall and thick, with sunlight peeking through the leaves. The air was fresh, and the sounds of birds and distant creatures echoed around them.
After almost half an hour of searching, Maruti finally spotted a group of goblins hiding near some bushes. She grinned and was about to charge at them—when suddenly—
*SWOOSH!*
Esdeath dashed forward without any warning. Using her wind steps, she jumped high into the air, flipping gracefully like a bird in flight.
"Take this hurricane, bitch!" Esdeath shouted as she twisted the air around her, forming a swirling wind spell. A small hurricane burst out of nowhere and slammed into the goblins, throwing them into the air. The spinning wind cut through many of them, slicing them like paper. By the time Esdeath landed softly on the ground, the goblins were either gone or knocked out.
"Urgh! That's cheating! I found them first!" Maruti puffed her cheeks, clearly annoyed. She stomped over like a pouting child.
"Then why did you call me? Just kill them when you see them!" Esdeath replied casually, flicking her hair back.
"Hmph, forget it! I'm going to work on my speed!" Maruti crossed her arms.
But Esdeath smirked. "I was going to do that too!"
She turned around, took a stance like a runner at a race, and suddenly—SWISH!—shot forward like a bolt of lightning.
BAM! CRASH!
The speed was too much to handle. She crashed into one tree... then another... and then another. The ground was left with deep dents, broken branches, and leaves flying everywhere.
And yet, when she finally stopped, Esdeath stood up calmly without a single scratch on her body. She dusted off her clothes as if nothing happened.
"My power's gotten too strong all of a sudden... it's hard to control it," she sighed. "Well, at least I have time to get used to it."
She walked back to Maruti, pretending everything was normal. Maruti just giggled over and over, covering her mouth, but didn't say anything.
"We're going to find monsters until ten, then head back," Esdeath said, looking at the sky to check the time.
"Why ten? More monsters usually show up around midnight," Maruti asked with a puzzled look.
Esdeath looked away, her voice soft. "Because... Lortell gets worried."
Maruti blinked. "There it is... Lortell's little puppy," she muttered, slapping her forehead lightly. But when she looked at Esdeath again, she noticed the slight blush on her cheeks.
"She's actually... happy about it?" Maruti thought, raising an eyebrow.
But then Esdeath shook her head quickly and muttered, "I can't help it... Esdeath's personality is taking over more and more. I can't even curse that Lortell bi—"
She paused, trying to say the word "bitch," but her lips refused to move that way.
"Bi... Bi... Beloved," she finally said in a whisper, defeated.
She sighed hard and covered her face with her hands. "It's out of control!"
Seeing her flustered and struggling, Maruti decided to help and change the subject.
"What should I even do with my light element affinity? Just heal myself? That's it?" Maruti asked, frowning. She always thought her element was boring.
"Well," Esdeath replied, "you can use light to boost your strength. Light paths are really good against undead or dark monsters."
"You can also use light for divination," Esdeath added, thinking carefully.
"Divination?" Maruti repeated, curious.
"Yeah," Esdeath said, turning to look at her. "Just like how people with nature element get resistance to poison and heal slowly over time, the dark element gives strong attack power and self-healing. But the light element isn't only about healing and buffs—it also lets you do divination."
" Like doing small prayers or rituals to find out if a place is safe or not," Esdeath explained. "Or if you're planning to do something, you can try to see whether it'll be successful."
She leaned closer, lowering her voice like she was sharing a secret. "You can even do dream divination. That's when you ask about something while sleeping, and in your dream, you might get answers. Let's say someone committed suicide... you could use the body as a medium and find out why they did it."
Maruti's eyes widened. "That's... creepy."
"Well, for that kind of divination, you'd need some details about the person or the event," Esdeath said with a shrug. "But it can be really useful. Of course, you can't actually see the future, just get a rough idea or some clues."
"So how can I do it?" Maruti asked.
"Just borrow a divination book from the library," Esdeath replied. "From what I know, you usually have to pray to a goddess or a god you believe in. As long as they're good gods—like the orthodox ones—it doesn't really matter which one. Sometimes rituals help too."
"Pray to gods?" Maruti frowned and looked away. "That sounds like bowing down to someone. I would never do that."
Esdeath stayed quiet for a moment, then said, "I'm thinking of taking Selene with us starting tomorrow. You should think about inviting Kaelith too. The more we hunt and collect monster materials or essence stones, the stronger we get."
Maruti's face dropped. "What makes you think Kaelith would join us?"
Esdeath rolled her eyes. "I don't know. You two seem close."
"We are not!" Maruti snapped, throwing her hands up. "She's one hell of a stalker! My life's a nightmare! I feel like she's going to kidnap me any moment."
Kaelith was someone Maruti couldn't run away from or beat in a fight. If Kaelith ever decided to seriously force herself on her... there was nothing Maruti could do about it.
"She hasn't shown up to class for two days straight," Maruti muttered, biting her lip. "It's making me even more nervous."
---
They hunted monsters together until it was ten at night. Neither of them used their essence stones—they focused on using their magic, draining their mana as much as they could. It was good training, tiring but worth it.
By the time they returned to the academy, the sky was dark and full of stars. The cool wind brushed their faces as they walked back to the dorms.
Before they parted ways, Esdeath asked one last time, "So... you're really not going to learn divination?"
Maruti stood firm, crossing her arms. "Bowing down to someone?—I would never."
She turned and marched toward her dorm without looking back.
---
Two hours passed.
It was midnight. The moon hung high in the sky, glowing brightly through the windows.
Inside her dorm room, Maruti sat quietly.
She wore a soft white veil over her head, the kind that looked like a bride's. Her face was calm but serious. On the floor, she had drawn a star inside a circle using fine white powder. Four small candles burned softly at each corner, casting a warm, flickering light.
In front of her was a sheet of paper with the words "Yes" and "No" written on it. A thin wooden stick with a sharp point lay across it, ready to move with the energy of the ritual.
Maruti sat in the center of the circle, her legs folded under her, hands pressed together in prayer.
Her voice was gentle as she whispered:
"Goddess of Light and Justice, Seraphine... please hear my call."
She picked up a few items one by one, placing them carefully in front of her.
"Moonlight essence flower... a flower of light."
"Shining dust... a powder of joy and happiness."
"Enlighten grass... a herb belonging to the lady of love."
The room was quiet. The only sound was her soft voice and the tiny crackles of candlelight.
She closed her eyes and asked, voice trembling just a little, "...Will Kaelith come to class tomorrow?"
