Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 125: Immunity for herself?
Amelia greeted the elders, her gaze drifting to Cyrus repetitively to get a hint about what was going on and why everyone was looking at her as if she was supposed to make some important decision.
She smiled a bit forcefully, shifting her weight from toe to toe helplessly until Amora took a deep breath and beckoned her to sit close to her.
Amelia followed suit.
She evened her dress after sitting, licking her lips nervously. The scrutinising gazes were making her edgy, and she was minutes away from speaking her mind.
"I heard what happened," Amora started after a dragging silence.
Amelia didn’t say anything. She just kept looking at the former Luna Queen for her to finish.
"Because of what happened, we have decided to change some things regarding the King trials, and you will decide the outcome of it," Amora said.
Amelia’s brows quirked, and she looked at Cyrus, who shrugged.
He didn’t have any idea what was going on. He was working in his office when Miss Quinn rushed to the room and told him the entire family had made their presence known downstairs.
When he asked them what was going on, they urged him to call Amelia, as they needed to discuss something about the King trials, and since she was a family member, her input was essential.
In the absence of his grandfather, Cyrus found this sudden meeting a little peculiar, but he didn’t want to disrespect his grandmother, who had raised him like her child, and thus, followed their orders.
In the meantime, Amelia arrived at the Grand Palace from the University, and Rowena, his cousin, filled him in about what was going on.
His cousin, Cassius, wanted to withdraw from the King trials.
After a heated discussion at their home, where Cassius stood firm on his decision to become a diplomat hunter, their parents finally gave in. They wondered if it would be better to let everyone know about it.
Rowena also told him that Patrick stood against Dominic after what happened with Lilithia. What he decided was yet to be known.
"I don’t want to drag the matter. Since you saved my sister’s life and protected our household’s dignity, I want to give you the decision of the King’s trials. If you were to ask me, I would withdraw from the King trials. Cyrus will become the king," Patrick said.
Dominic, who didn’t know about it, stood from his place, his heart beating erratically.
He wanted to ask his son if he had lost his mind. How dare he jeopardize his years of hard work towards the throne. Only he knew the kind of sacrifices he has made, but didn’t want to cause a ruckus in front of the entire family and appear greedy as well.
He clenched his fist, his eyes glaring at Elysia, who looked down at her feet.
"If you had a little control over your children, nothing like this would’ve happened. What are you waiting for? For him to ruin everything? Do something," Dominic said to Elysia through the mind link.
Elysia licked her bottom lip, unsure how to approach the matter.
Lilithia smiled at Amelia thankfully.
Everyone’s gaze shifted to the girl in question.
This was an important decision. If she said she wanted him to withdraw, there wouldn’t be any competition, and Cyrus would become the King without any trouble.
Amelia looked at Cyrus, trying to read his mind and see what he wanted.
Did he want her to ask them to withdraw?
She kept looking into his eyes for some time before averting her gaze and asking Miss Quinn to prepare snacks and tea for everyone.
"Sir, this is good. If our Princess asked Patrick, he would withdraw, and we would be saved from the hassle," Fabian said excitedly.
Cyrus didn’t say anything.
Amelia finally drew a sharp breath and looked Amora in the eyes.
"What’s the catch?" She asked.
She would be a fool if she believed the royals came together with them without discussing things beforehand and finding an alternative to it.
Amora smiled at Amelia’s words.
As expected of the girl, she knew how to deal with things patiently, keeping everything in mind and not jumping to conclusions just by knowing the half truth.
"You have a choice. You can choose between eliminating the competition between Cyrus and Patrick or becoming immune to the Queen trials," The former Luna Queen said.
Amora waited, wanting to gauge the girl’s reaction.
Any sane person who would love power would save herself first. After all, Cyrus can fight for himself, but she, on the other hand, was a mere healer. How would she compete against those alpha daughters?
Her words didn’t faze Amelia.
"What do you think is best?" Amelia asked Cyrus directly.
Cyrus raised his brows. She looked confident for some reason, a complete contrast to her nervous self around him.
It almost felt like something was changing inside her, and it was amusing to him.
"It’s all up to you. If they wanted my opinion, they wouldn’t ask the question from you," Cyrus cunningly sidelined himself from the situation.
Amelia nodded.
She looked at Rosaline and Elysia before taking a deep breath.
"I have faith in my husband. He can fight fair and win the trials," Amelia said. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Amora smirked.
"So you are choosing immunity for yourself," She stated.
Rosaline’s expression turned grave. Though she didn’t have much say in the royal matters since she was the daughter, she didn’t like the turnout of events.
If Gloria or her brother, Sebastian, had been here, it wouldn’t have come to this. What irked her more was that their mother was making this decision in the absence of the former alpha king, their father, Grayson, who, god knew, was where.
"I didn’t say that either, did I?" Amelia’s sudden words left everyone confused.
"So you want Cyrus to fight and don’t want immunity for yourself either?" Amora asked.
Amelia nodded.
"My husband is powerful enough to win this fight himself. He doesn’t need any goodwill out of something I did to win the throne," she paused.
"Regarding the Queen trials, I don’t want people to berate my husband and say that he got stuck with a weak healer. If I win, I stay. If I don’t win, you’ll have a chance at a stronger Luna Queen. It’s a matter for the entire kingdom, and as selfish as I want to be when it comes to my love for my husband, I can’t risk the royal throne for that," Amelia said.
Her words were meticulous and calculated, something that immediately won over all the elders present in the room.
Even Dominic, who was earlier raging inside, felt relaxed. A smirk appeared on his face. The girl before him was a certified fool. Not only did she not protect the throne for her husband, but she also risked her relationship.
Maybe he was worrying over this nincompoop uselessly. He took a deep breath and looked at his daughter with disdain. If it hadn’t been for his daughter, who got caught, and Amelia saving her, things wouldn’t have come down to this.
"Since the matter is solved, I would like to take my leave. I have important matters to handle," Dominic left the premises shortly.
Patrick sighed. He wanted to give Amelia one chance to use this opportunity to stop the bloodbath that might happen later.
He was tied by his father’s controlling strings and had little control, but she could have done something. However, seeing her overconfidence in her husband, he was greatly disappointed.
Amelia wasn’t a fool to not read the mixed emotions of the family members. But she remained unfazed.
"Let’s eat something," Amora said, and everyone nodded.
They walked to the dining room one by one.
Amelia felt someone’s dark gaze on her and turned around, her eyes meeting Cyrus.
He wasn’t pleased. She could feel it.
Without wasting a second, she walked to him, taking a deep breath.
"Are you angry?" She asked in a soft voice.
"Angry at what?" Cyrus’s words were cold.
Amelia felt helpless.
"Should I have asked them to drop the king trials?" She asked.
Cyrus’s glare deepened.
"No? Is it because I didn’t choose immunity for the queen trials? But it’s good for you. You are stuck with a person from the community you deeply hate. You can use this opportunity to choose another female to your liking," Amelia said, her voice growing timid with each word as the shine in her eyes dimmed.
The thought of seeing another woman by Cyrus’s side ached her heart, but she also knew that she would only bring problems to his side.
So until she won the trials and proved to herself that she was strong enough, she didn’t want to drag him down.
"Let’s eat something first," Amelia whispered when Cyrus didn’t say anything.
Maybe he thought her decision was right indeed. The realisation that, after all this time, he might be thinking of having someone else around made her heart clench painfully, and she left the hall to go and pretend to be a good daughter-in-law.
Cyrus, on the other side, fisted his hands, wanting to punch someone in the face.
