Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 126: The reason behind his anger
Once everyone left, Cyrus didn’t waste a second in cornering Amelia, who looked at him, wide-eyed, a little nervous.
"What did you say out there?" Cyrus asked.
His blue eyes were cold and dark, barely controlling his anger and annoyance with the matter.
Amelia swallowed hard before looking to her side at Fabian, hoping for some help.
However, the subordinate looked away.
Even he was disappointed in the Princess’s decision today. He knew she was doing this for Cyrus’s pride, and so no one would say that Cyrus won because Patrick withdrew, but she could’ve saved them the hassle at least a little bit by putting on some conditions.
She had that opportunity.
There were many ways to conclude the trials, but she chose a duel. A duel where Patrick was allowed to fight in his wolf form, even after knowing Cyrus couldn’t turn into his wolf form without his permission.
"I am sorry," Amelia whispered, not adding to her statement. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Her timid answer without any fight, the loss of the confidence that she had shown earlier, irked him even more.
Cyrus raised his hand, pausing midway when Amelia flinched at the motion.
His body froze.
Did she think he would hit her? After all the time they spent together, was this the kind of image she had of him in her mind?
Then again, all the times when her father slapped her before everyone whenever he thought she was wrong circulated in his head, and he calmed himself.
He grabbed her chin instead, forcing her to look into his eyes.
"What are you sorry for?" He asked.
Amelia licked her bottom lip. "For allowing the duel?" She asked, unsure.
Cyrus kept looking into her eyes for some time before he shook his head and left in anger. It was useless talking to her.
Amelia stood there, frozen for some time, until Miss Quinn walked to her.
"You did well. He will come around. Don’t worry. If you hadn’t allowed the duel, it would’ve been a hit to his pride. Though I don’t know why he is so angry about it," Miss Quinn patted Amelia’s shoulders comfortingly.
The latter nodded with a forced smile before she walked to her room.
Inside his office, Cyrus grabbed the vase placed neatly at the edge of his desk and threw it on the wall in irritation.
"How dare she?!" He growled, seething in anger at both Amelia and his wolf Sylas, who was calm even in this situation.
Fabian, following his King, paused in his steps, flinching at the sound.
He stood at the entrance of the office with a contemplative expression.
His boss was angry. Honestly, he was a little irritated too. The woman he thought was madly in love with his boss and was suitable for his king, made a wrong decision today that could’ve brought things into their favour.
While she might’ve had her reasons, she could’ve at least asked for some time to think things through and discuss it with them.
But she was impulsive.
"How could she do this to me, Fabian? Was there something I didn’t give her? I gave her a place to live, my respect even when she was a healer, I stood before her, shielded her from her father, defended her, but even after all that, how could she—" Cyrus growled.
Fabian thinned his lips, his gaze meeting Trevor as they looked at each other.
They both wanted to console their king but didn’t know what to say to him, not when they knew she was wrong.
Then again, the duel was in two days, and for their king, it was essential to act meticulously and stay calm.
"Sir, we know what she did was wrong, and Princess could’ve stopped this or chosen another way—" Fabian started, but Cyrus cut him off.
"You don’t understand, Fabian. That woman dared to mark me. And yet she said she will participate in the Queen trials and let them decide the better queen for me?! I bear her mark on my neck!! How dare she even mention another woman!" Cyrus blasted.
His words shocked his subordinates.
So their King was angry because their princess said she would compete against those alphas’ daughters for the position, and not because she didn’t stop the duel?
"I won’t forgive her for this." Cyrus took a deep breath and sat in his seat like a boss.
He closed his eyes, his brows furrowed in deep thinking, before he opened them.
"Prepare for the duel. In the meantime, increase the security of the Grand Palace. I am sure Dominic would try something if they lost the round. I don’t want Amelia to get between this once again," Cyrus said.
Fabian nodded in understanding.
"Also, arrange a meeting with this rogue head. I have been hearing a lot about him. Let’s see what his deal is," Cyrus added.
Amelia sat inside the room, leaning back on the bed with a sigh.
Before coming here, she had received an anonymous message, a message that changed her perspective of what was happening in the royal family altogether.
She thought this life gifted to her was probably just the Moon Goddess’ way of reciprocating for all the wrong she had suffered in the previous life. Still, now, after everything she was uncovering about herself, about people around herself, she felt she had a bigger purpose in this second lifetime.
And that purpose was to uncover the truth. To remove the veils that have been hiding the truth for so many years. To reveal the dirty tricks, treasons, and ambushes that were played many years ago, and the perpetrators of which were living happily.
One such truth began with the uncovering of her origins. That she was the carrier of the golden healer blood from her mother’s side, and not only that, but her father never loved her mother.
Now, the reason why they kept her alive when they hated her and had been conspiring against her was still unclear.
Though she had a hint and Cyrus gave her some information about the legacy, Amelia was sure it wasn’t the real reason.
And the second truth that she needed to uncover was...
Amelia pulled out the phone from her bag and looked at the message once again.
"Let Cyrus win over Patrick fair and square. He would bring out his Ace card. And the threat to him would shun everyone out," The message said.
For some time, Amelia was confused as to who could send her a message, most importantly because her mind had been clouded by what the royals might want to talk to her about.
But after she heard their words, she realised that the message was probably from the same old man who had come to find her at the University and left with no trace, except for this number.
She had contacted him numerous times, but he never answered her calls.
Reading his words repetitively, it only meant that either Dominic or Patrick knew where Cyrus’s second brother was, or what could be their trump card? And since they were so desperate for the throne, they would surely threaten him with that.
It was hard for Amelia to suspect Patrick, since he was the same guy who appeared so understanding and caring, but it was also true that power can blind people.
In this competition of dominance, no one could be trusted.
