Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 187: Drop out
Amelia’s heart thumped against her chest. For a second, she placed the phone aside, trying to think of all the things that Dominic could use against her to ask her such an atrocious thing.
She jogged her mind for a few seconds, but even after thinking for a while, she didn’t find anything.
"What do you mean? I have worked hard for this. Do you take me for a fool that you’ll just ask me to drop the last round and I’ll do so?" Amelia asked.
Dominic smirked on the other side of the phone.
"Who said I don’t have a proper offer for you to drop it? It’s give and take. You drop that last round and let anyone else win, and in return I’ll spare Cyrus," Dominic said.
Amelia quirked her brows.
The pain she felt earlier in her heart... could it be that her husband was in danger because of Dominic? But how?
No. This wasn’t possible. She would be a fool to believe that after Sylas’s awakening her husband would be weak enough to be controlled by Dominic easily. Besides, didn’t Kyle say he will handle the matter? She needed to trust her other mate in this.
"What you are saying is quite funny. I can bet you can’t harm my husband. I have a better proposal. How about you stop wasting my time and focus on how to get your daughter out of the dungeons?" Amelia scoffed and was about to end the call so she could call Kyle and ask him if he got anything on Cyrus when Dominic’s words stopped her from doing so.
"Well, in that case, I can’t really stop you from participating using Cyrus’s name, right?" He asked.
"Yes," Amelia said sternly.
"And will your answer remain the same if I said it wasn’t Cyrus but Cyrus’s mother who is in trouble?" He asked.
Amelia, who was about to walk to the window to close it, froze in her place.
Her fingers clenched around the phone for the second time as her heart skipped a beat before beating erratically. The image of that night, where she had felt out of her wits and found herself in Dominic’s territory and saw a chained person in the dungeons, surfaced in her head, and she gulped.
"W-what are you talking about?" She stuttered.
Dominic smiled. It worked. He could feel it in his bones, and he nodded at his right-hand man to inform him they didn’t need to keep targeting Cyrus, and he could ask his people to leave the forest.
"I am sure you know what I am talking about. Cyrus’s mother is with me. And only I can set her free. If you want to see her alive, let your husband meet his mother; you need to drop out of the trials. Rather, I’ll send you a location. Come there and get her," Dominic said.
Amelia’s brows furrowed.
She bit her lips. She would be a complete fool to believe a cunning man like Dominic. But she couldn’t ignore what she saw there either. She knew she had seen something, someone, and the way that person was chained...
"How can I trust you? What if I drop, come there, and you have nothing to offer?" Amelia asked.
Dominic nodded.
She was cautious, just like he expected her to be.
"I can send you proof," Dominic said before he sent her a photo that he had clicked earlier with the so-called beast down in the hidden dungeon.
Before Amelia could save the photo or send it to someone, the image was deleted from Dominic’s end, and Amelia gritted her teeth in annoyance.
That man was too good with his tricks.
She took a deep breath. She promised Cyrus that she would win these trials, but from what the man told her, Cyrus’s mother was innocent and not the venomous woman that they painted her to be for the world.
This was probably her only chance to set herself free.
"Why are you doing this? Aren’t you afraid of the Moon Goddess’s wrath?" Amelia asked, feeling shaken from the disgust for that man.
Dominic chuckled. He shook his head. Why was he doing this? Because this world was never fair to him. Right from the beginning, everything that rightfully belonged to him was taken away, be it a favorable position, their parents’ love and attention, or the throne.
Since the world was never in his favor, he never felt the need to show goodwill to anyone, either.
It was tit for tat. His family was reaping exactly what they had sown back then.
They filled his life with competition and a constant need to be good, the need to prove himself, and now he was ready to show them what they did to him.
"I don’t fear anything. I am the same man who tried to kill his father, so don’t think, even for a second, that I won’t go through and send that woman away, or worse, kill her if you don’t show up tomorrow," Dominic said one last time before ending the call.
He was more than just sure that he had played his card well and that the girl would show up where he asked her to. And since Cyrus interrupted his work, coming between him and his crown, he would ensure that he took the most precious thing to him, his so-called wife.
Amelia returned to the bed, sitting on it, dazed. She placed her hand in the middle of her chest, rubbing it softly to ease the pain she felt.
Tears welled in her eyes, and she looked at the phone, suppressing the urge to call Kyle and tell him everything because that was precisely what she wanted to do.
However, she was afraid that if she made a move and Dominic got even as much as a gist of it, he wouldn’t think twice before killing their mother.
She wouldn’t be able to bear the consequences or face herself if that happened. Amelia gulped and looked at the floor, letting the tears roll down her cheeks.
I am sorry, Cyrus. I am sorry for not being able to go through with my promise to win the queen trials or even trying my best to win it. She whispered to herself.
