Reborn ghost seeing lady is pampered by her ex husband-Chapter 574: The Baltimore’s are moving.
From the beauty bar, they got back in their cars and went off in different directions. Phoebe and David went straight to the cafe because it was now back to work as usual. The drive there was short, within six minutes, they had arrived.
On reaching inside, Phoebe was stunned to find Collin and Lydia Baltimore having coffee. It had been a while she had last seen them. She often wondered how they were doing after everything that happened, but she was yet to visit them.
Her grandmother was their official handler; she regularly checked on them on the sly and briefed Phoebe about how the Baltimore's were fairing. So far, the Baltimore family seemed fine and normal just like any other family.
Lydia beamed like a torch when she saw Phoebe. She looked radiant and relaxed, her skin was glowing positively, and her hair was freshly done. Seeing her in that condition was a good thing and yet Phoebe could not bring herself to feel good about it.
Seeing them made her worry about Connie. What if running into them brought up some memories? She had considered moving the cafe from this building and the idea came up in her mind again.
"Hey Pheebs!" Collin waved in her direction.
Raising her hand and faking the smile, Phoebe walked to their table with David by her side. The rest of the group that they had been blocking on the way in followed naturally. Because they were familiar with the Baltimore's they paused by the table to exchange greetings.
A casual conversation sprang up among them until Lydia announced that they had made a decision to return to Eagle country.
"You are leaving!" Maureen loudly exclaimed. She held back the urge to shout hallelujah. Every time she saw Cassie she couldn't help wanting to punish the girl. If the Baltimore's were gone, so would her urge to seek justice for Connie.
A few unhappy and curious customers looked at Maureen. In turn, she smiled apologetically and quickly looked back at the Baltimore's.
"Why are you moving?" Andre asked curiously.
"This place just seems like it is lacking something, I do not know what that is but sometimes I wake up feeling an unexplainable loss. I suddenly miss everything about my old home, my old friends and my family. Now that Cassie is done with high school and she has no more nightmares, we have nothing to tie us here anymore." Lydia let out shaky breath, her fingers curled around the steaming mug, savoring its heat.
Nodding, Collin's gaze shifted from one familiar face to another. "I feel like I should let you all know that I am selling the building to David, so you won't have to duck anymore when you see the landlord." A soft laugh came from him.
"Ha-ha." Phoebe laughed dryly and mechanically. "I was not hiding from my landlord for your information. I was taking out the trash in embarrassing pajamas."
"Right." Collin laughed.
"Why did you sell to David?" Andre asked him.
"His offer was just too good to resist." Collin told him, candidly. A smile played on his lips when he recalled how he had once vowed never to sell the building to David. Not only had he sold the building but the entire complex and every building he owned in Citrus city.
Collin Baltimore had a feeling that he was never returning to this country and even if he did, he would be reserving hotels or buy a house in another part of the country.
"I see that your mind is really made up already so I will not make a counteroffer. " Andre stretched his arms, flexing his biceps for his fans that were stretching their heads to get a good look at him. "What about the project that you are working on with our company? The other Collin is going to be disappointed." A creased appeared between his brows.
He was a pinch disappointed because he too had grown to like the man a little.
Releasing a chuckle, Collin's gaze lowered. "Andre there is something they call video and voice calls you know. If you miss me, you can even come even come to Eagle country and visit us. I will be going back and forth so our business will not be affected by my move back home in any way. My major businesses are back there. it makes no sense for me to spend all my time here now that Cassie okay." He gestured at the Mayfair's with open arms. "I hope to see you all in my home country, I promise to show you around all the fun places you don't even know exist."
Maureen smacked the table lightly. "I will take you up on that offer. I refuse to believe that there is a fun place in the world that I do not know of. I am well-traveled Baltimore; I know your country better than you do." She arrogantly assured him.
"I look forward to proving you wrong." he replied
Smiling warmly, Phoebe asked if they were certain about the decision, to which Lydia said yes. "Well, we will miss you all. I am sure that the female tenants will be disappointed by the absence of your golden head around." She paused to chuckle and added, "I must say thank you for selling this place to David because now I will not have to move the cafe."
"You were?" David asked, reflecting the curiosity of everyone.
Nodding, Phoebe slowly answered. "As you can all see we have clearly outgrown this place, it can barely accommodate our customers. I need a bigger space which I was going to find elsewhere but now I bet that my new landlord will devise means of enlarging the space." Her attention drifted to David.
"Of course, you can have the whole floor if you desire it, I will have everyone out by the end of the week. If you need three floors or the entire building, you can have it." David spoke with enthusiasm, already painting images of how to make Phoebe's wish come true.
Rosette interrupted by informing Phoebe that there was a ghost client that needed her immediate attention. "He has been here four times already, will you see him now or do I have to ask him to vanish?" She asked, pointing at the ghost who sat with his head lowered.
"Er...well...." Phoebe hesitated; she was not sure whether her conversation with the Baltimore's was over.
Lydia flicked her fingers lightly. "It is okay, we will leave after we finish our drinks." Her mouth softened into a quiet glow.
David checked his wristwatch for the time. "I will also drop by later, that talk we need to have can wait. Your client..." His eyes moved in the direction of the ghost. "Obed? Obed Montgomery? Why the hell is he here?" The name and question burst free before he could stop it.
