Reborn In Another World As A Spirit Familiar-Chapter 244: It Just Gets Worse
Chapter 244 - It Just Gets Worse
It was crazy how much desperation filled me. Tired as I was, I used |Roaming Undisturbed| to slam my body against Zyrig before he could make his move. Unfortunately, he didn't budge.
"Ridiculous. You will watch as I tear apart your friends, boy." [Zyrig]
As if to ensure I couldn't do anything, Zyrig immediately summoned a broadsword before chopping off all my limbs in an instant.
"Argh!" [Solace]
Blood spewed out of my wounds, yet I still lived. My durability kept my life intact, an unlucky curse for this moment.
"ZYRIG!!!" [Solace]
All I could do was scream out as I watched him fly towards my allies. I would try to use |Small Cure| to try to regrow my limbs, but at most it would only bring back one.
"Feerae approaching. Wilharrow? What do we do?" [Leon]
"What?! I'm still synthesizing! What happened to Alt?!" [Wilharrow]
She scoped in on me from afar.
"Alive. Barely." [Leon]
Wilharrow glanced at Raon, who was currently manipulating the |Divine| energy in his sword to maintain Fina's state.
"...Leon, I don't think we really have a choice. You're going to need to hold the Feerae off." [Wilharrow]
"How long?" [Leon]
An instant reply.
"Three minutes. Alt was able to last seven while injured. I don't know if you can handle it, but you're all we've got." [Wilharrow]
"Understood." [Leon]
Propping up her greatsword, Leon leapt off the debris and intercepted Zyrig.
"You offer yourself to be slaughtered!" [Zyrig]
They clashed blades, which quickly turned into Leon getting sent flying. Though she may be strong, she was not on par with Zyrig as he is now.
"|Driving Pursuit|!" [Zyrig]
Zooming across the sky, Zyrig closed the distance between him and Leon.
"Die." [Zyrig]
Swinging his broadsword, Leon took action.
"|Flux|." [Leon]
Conjuring a clone, Leon pushed herself out of danger. This kind of ended up with Zyrig cutting the clone in half though.
"A mere obstacle!" [Zyrig]
He gave chase, cutting through more clones as Leon kept running away with them. Zyrig appeared to be getting annoyed so he charged up a skill to get through.
"|Burning-" [Zyrig]
"|Poison Creation|." [Leon]
Interrupting his skill, Leon splashed some kind of dark green liquid at his face.
"Mere poison won't- Ack! What is this concoction?!" [Zyrig]
"One mixed with rolling beetle dung." [Leon]
From the knowledge Belrick flashbanged me with, I somehow knew that rolling beetle dung is top three foul odored creatures in the insect kingdom.
"|Flux|." [Leon]
Without hesitation, Leon used a clone to push herself closer to Zyrig. Even if it was a bit of a gamble, Leon took the moment to spin and get a hit in with her greatsword. Problem is, it didn't do jackshit.
"Did you think you even had a chance?" [Zyrig]
Before Leon could react, Zyrig thrust his sword into Leon's abdomen.
"Urk!" [Leon]
For the first time, I saw Leon's face twist in pain.
"Now you will die for your foolishness." [Zyrig]
Straining her voice, Leon tried to speak.
"M... My master will avenge me..." [Leon]
Zyrig scoffed.
"Tell me your master's name and I will personally send them after you." [Zyrig]
"The mage killer... Jukhan...!" [Leon]
Zyrig froze.
"...Life really is something..." [Zyrig]
He began to chuckle, exploding into maniacal laughter.
"Your master, Jukhan?!" [Zyrig]
He continued to laugh for a few more seconds before abruptly stopping.
"Did you know? This place we're in. This |Spirit Field|. I once called it home when I was a mere fledgling." [Zyrig]
Sudden lore drop. Good for us since Wilharrow needed the time.
"It was a beautiful land. A prosperous era... Until Jukhan came." [Zyrig]
The aura around him shifted rapidly, as if trying to mimic fire.
"With one mighty skill, he destroyed my lord-dom. My home. My family, crushed from the mixing of debris. I was the only survivor. Feasting on the corpses of my kind within this gravitational field." [Zyrig]
He grabbed Leon's face and stared her in the eyes.
"I will NEVER forget his atrocities. Much like I will NEVER forget what all of you have done today. The gods have delivered you all to me, to cleanse this world of your filth. Know that I take much pleasure in this. Perish for my satisfaction." [Zyrig]
Just as he was about to rip Leon apart, a spell struck him.
"Urgh?!" [Zyrig]

Electricity ran through him, paralyzing his body.
("That direction?!") [Solace]
Turning my eyes, I could see Fina standing.
"Raon, Fina, all out assault! We have to take him down quickly!" [Wilharrow]
"Just finish him off! I'll keep him from moving!" [Fina]
"Something like this...!" [Zyrig]
Just as the paralysis began to wear off, Raon managed to blow Zyrig away with his golden sword. Though it would've been nice if he lost his sword, reality was that Zyrig managed to pull his weapon along.
"Woah!" [Raon]
Surprised by the power behind his strike, Raon felt a twinge of excitement.
"You're telling me controlling the |Divine| power makes it that much stronger?!" [Raon]
("As expected of the First Hero's sword.") [Solace]
"Leon, fall back. We'll take it from here." [Wilharrow]
Nodding, Leon summoned another clone to push her to a nearby debris. There, she applied pressure and tended to her wound.
("It's three versus one now...") [Solace]
Zyrig quickly recovered, righting himself mid-air before glaring at Raon.
"Uh... Wilharrow, how confident are you?" [Raon]
"About eighty percent." [Wilharrow]
Raon chuckled anxiously.
"Eighty? Much higher than I expected." [Raon]
"Eighty percent that we'll lose." [Wilharrow]
"Oh. This is gonna take a miracle isn't it?" [Raon]
"That's what heroes do." [Wilharrow]
Raon sighed.
"So much for glory... I'm just going to die." [Raon]
"I was going to finish you all off later, but now's a better time than any." [Zyrig]
Surging with a dark energy, Zyrig blasted off towards my allies.
"He's coming!" [Wilharrow]
Moving forward, Wilharrow parried the first strike.
"Now!" [Wilharrow]
Raon moved in, delivering a direct slash on Zyrig. Though it may not be much, it was able to chunk at his armor.
"You-!" [Zyrig]
He swung at Raon in retaliation. However, he was parried by Wilharrow again.
"Again!" [Wilharrow]
"I know!" [Raon]
Striking again, another piece of armor was gone.
"A little more, Wilharrow!" [Raon]
"Do you think I'd sit there and wait?!" [Zyrig]
This time, Zyrig swung and allowed himself to be parried. As Raon moved to attack, Zyrig reached out to grab him.
"|Omni-elemental Obstruction|!" [Fina]
Several magic circles appeared around Zyrig's arm, freezing it in place.
"Multi-level sealing magic?!" [Zyrig]
It was a temporary trick. Something that lasted only a second against Zyrig's strength. Even so, it was enough for Raon to get another hit in.
"It's exposed!" [Raon]
A wide opening was made through Zyrig's chestplate. The only problem left was to deliver a fatal blow.
"Keep going! I'll cover you!" [Wilharrow]
With a gap in the armor, victory was near. Raon went in fully trusting Wilharrow as Zyrig swung another time.
"Wait- Raon!" [Wilharrow]
Zyrig feinted the slash, causing Wilharrow to fail the parry. Within a split second, Zyrig's blade was heading towards Raon's neck.
"|Break Counter|!" [Raon]
Using his black sword, Raon riposted Zyrig. Normally the skill |Break Counter| would destroy the opponent's weapon, yet it's durability proved to be too great. It wasn't much of a setback since Raon seamlessly transitioned to attack on the exposed area.
"|Critical Stab|!" [Raon]
Panicking from the sudden parry, Zyrig covered the exposed area with his hand, causing it to get pierced by Raon's sword.
"Ngh!" [Zyrig]
Enduring the pain, Zyrig grabbed the sword firmly. He then slashed at Raon, who was forced to retreat without his weapon.
"Now you've lost your means of attack!" [Zyrig]
As if to prove him wrong, a bombardment of spells struck him.
"Agh!" [Zyrig]
Though they weren't powerful enough to harm him, the spells were riddled with effects. Nausea, sickness, vision impairment, loss of balance, disruption of the five senses, a heavier body, and so on. Even through all that, Zyrig refused to release Raon's sword.
"This is nothing!" [Zyrig]
"|Divine Weapon Resonance|!" [Wilharrow]
His sword radiating with |Divine| energy, he thrusted his sword into Zyrig's exposed chestplate. Although there was an attempt to parry it using his sword, the accumulated debuffs dropped on him caused him to miss ever so slightly. Thus, bringing about his downfall.
"N-No...!" [Zyrig]
Blood oozed out of his chest as the |Spirit Field| failed to maintain itself. Within moments, we were back in the throne room. Which also meant that there was gravity again, causing me to hit the ground without a way to prop myself up. I could still see my allies if I raised my head though.
"I... I can't die like this...! To... Fail like this...!" [Zyrig]
The mighty Feerae fell to his knees, dropping his sword just to barely grab Wilharrow's. I could see an attempt to pull the sword out, leading to a vain struggle from a lack of strength.
"Wh... Why... Gods above... Why...!" [Zyrig]
As his breathing grew heavy, he turned to the demon lord's corpse slumped on her throne. As if Wilharrow felt pity, he actually let go of his sword and stepped back.
"Lilith...!" [Zyrig]
Zyrig fell over, crawling to the demon lord.
"I'm sorry... Lilith... I couldn't... protect you...! I couldn't... make your dreams... a reality...!" [Zyrig]
It was such a sorry sight that it made me want to look away. Nevertheless, I watched. I was one of the reasons why this was happening after all.
"Lilith... Please... Forgive me..." [Zyrig]
Once reaching the throne, he stretched a hand out as if to reach her one last time. From my experience from video games, he'd just up and die like that. Unfortunately, it was ruined when a spear was brought down on his head.
"Wha-?!" [Wilharrow]
"Who is that?!" [Raon]
Appearing out of thin air was Edwill, that kill-stealing-backstabbing bastard.
"I've done it! I've slain the Feerae! Two in fact! And took the head of the Demon Lord!" [Edwill]
I could sense the strength in Edwill rise as the |Experience| from killing Zyrig streamed into him.
"EDWILL!!!" [Solace]
Screaming from across the floor, I kind of just... flailed around.
"Oh! You're still alive!" [Edwill]
"Wilharrow! Raon! Kill the bastard!" [Solace]
"What?!" [Wilharrow]
Edwill quickly raised a hand.
"Wait wait wait. I'm also a hero. According to the international hero agreement, heroes cannot harm each other. Plus, since I dealt the final blow to the two Feeraes and the Demon Lord, I receive all the merits." [Edwill]
Wilharrow clenched his fists.
"We dealt most of the damage! The merit should be ours!" [Wilharrow]
"Will you ignore the international heroes agreement then?" [Edwill]
"Wait, but-" [Raon]
"International heroes agreement~." [Edwill]
That shut them up.
"You killed me though!" [Solace]
"All I did was help you kill a Feerae. Besides, that was self defense. For that offense, you should be confined to prison and then hung in the plaza. In which, Hero of Metus, please assist me in apprehending this criminal. Well, not that it would be too much trouble considering your lack of... ability." [Edwill]
"I... I...!" [Wilharrow]
This guy cannot be serious. This turn of events was so shit not even a third rate writer would be willing to post this. The only problem was that this was my reality.
"|Self Cure|." [Solace]
I spammed my healing enough to regrow one arm before placing my hand into my mouth.
("|Explosion Arts|.") [Solace]
Boom. In the next moment I should be hearing the usual speech.
"Alert: |Blooming Undying| activation confirmed. All debuffs have been dispelled. Health and mana have been restored. All stats increased by fifty percent. Sanity has dropped by ten percent." [Spirit Guide]
Waking up with all my limbs intact, I collected my Vermillion Eclipse from my old severed parts.
"Edwill, fuck the pleasantries. We're scrapping." [Solace]
