Chapter 657: Chapter 657: No Small Harm (9 updates)
"Shuanzi, what are you doing, not talking? Have you stopped caring about your brothers?" The man persuading Shuanzi to calm down teased him with a smile when he noticed Shuanzi wasn’t speaking.
"Stop talking." Shuanzi waved his hand away impatiently, his eyes fixed straight ahead.
Seeing Shuanzi stare ahead, the man also looked over.
The group of men following behind Shuanzi also shifted their gaze forward.
Directly in front of them was a narrow alley about one meter wide where a fine misty rain fell, and a slender figure of a woman staggered toward them.
Her ink-black hair flowed freely down her back.
The woman was strikingly beautiful with a compassionate visage that instinctively evoked sympathy from onlookers.
Even though she walked unsteadily, she still exuded an air of gentle grace like flowing water.
Shuanzi immediately curled his lips into a grin, "Damn, what a gorgeous chick."
The skinny guy who had been comforting Shuanzi earlier heard this and, knowing Shuanzi was unreliable, quickly said, "Pretty or not, she isn’t for you to think about, Shuanzi. We can’t go breaking the law."
Shuanzi chuckled and pushed the skinny guy aside, "We’re all among friends here, if you don’t say anything, I don’t say anything, and nobody says anything, who would know? Right, fellas?"
Upon hearing this, the skinny guy’s eyes lit up, entertaining the thought, "She really is a looker."
But before they could act on their thoughts, they saw a tall man following the woman.
The man was dressed in dark black attire, tall and with long legs, imposing and handsome, with a pair of charming peach blossom eyes. Yet, there was an air of iron-blooded intimidation emanating from him.
No sooner had Shuanzi and the others spotted the man than they were met with his chilling glare.
"Scram!"
With that one word, the man’s displeasure was evident.
Although Shuanzi and his companions were workers who had formerly been hoodlums, they had a strong perception of danger. They could tell at a glance that the man was not someone to be trifled with and that he clearly had a connection with the woman.
Shuanzi immediately felt relieved that he had only entertained the thought and hadn’t actually done anything, as he guessed that he would have been left with less than half his life if he had.
With the man’s shout, Shuanzi didn’t even try to argue. He grabbed the skinny guy and the others and they scurried away dejectedly.
Meanwhile, the dangerously close incident went unnoticed by Zuo Qing, who, drunk as she was, continued to sway forward.
Ye Shaoting, with his head in his hands, watched as she kept stumbling in her ’fairy steps’.
Why on earth did he have to help clean up Jin Ruiyang’s romantic mess?
Ye Shaoting hadn’t just appeared suddenly. In fact, he had followed her the entire way.
Ever since she grabbed a bottle of wine and wandered off alone into the dark, he had been following her, never expecting her to wander even further off track.
Had he not been there just now, who knows what might have happened.
As he was thinking this, Ye Shaoting saw Zuo Qing up ahead, taking her ’fairy steps’ when she suddenly tripped and fell to the ground. Looking down, he saw a large rock knee-high blocking her path.
The silly girl hadn’t seen it at all and had tripped over it.
It would have been one thing if she had just fallen, but she remained seated and didn’t get up.
Ye Shaoting walked over to her, resigned to helping her up.
But Zuo Qing swatted his hand away, "Go away."
She didn’t have much force behind her words. Being so gentle, even drunk, she was still soft, her words quiet and tender, whispering rather than shouting.
Ye Shaoting sighed helplessly, ignoring her resistance and picked her up anyway.
"I can walk by myself!" Zuo Qing, even in her drunken state, realized she was being carried and struggled to jump down.
Her little hands flailed about.
Ye Shaoting didn’t bother with her, not wanting to waste time with a drunk.
The few times they had met, she had been drunk on two occasions.
And both times it was because of that playboy Jin Ruiyang.
Ye Shaoting felt once more that the two Jin brothers were causing no small amount of trouble. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
