Chapter 1859: Chapter 1853: Let It Slip

"Qin Xue, I didn’t expect you’d be so quick. I was going to come over and help you, who knew you’d have everything set up already." After Silver Wolf left, Qing Zhu tried to console the little girl. Seeing she wouldn’t stop crying, she decided to let her cry it out.

The little girl cried herself out and fell asleep right there. Watching her, Qing Zhu felt both heartbroken and upset.

She had gone through similar things herself and now her child had to experience it again. It made her uncomfortable to think about. After putting her daughter to sleep on the bed, she finished tidying up and started cooking.

When the little girl woke up, Qing Zhu and Dongfang Li went to Qin Xue’s house for dinner. They had planned to come earlier to help with the meal, but Qin Xue had already done everything by the time they arrived.

"What happened to Yuran?" Qin Xue looked at the little girl’s swollen eyes, wondering what had happened since they parted in the afternoon, as she seemed fine then.

"Nothing much. I have no idea why she’s so attached to that man, Silver Wolf. After he left, she cried her heart out. I couldn’t do anything but let her cry it out—let’s see if she’ll cry like this again." Qing Zhu’s words were dismissive, but the pain in her eyes showed she truly loved her child.

"No wonder that was the first thing he said when he came back." Qin Xue understood now, realizing why Silver Wolf said what he did so suddenly.

"What?" Qing Zhu was confused by Qin Xue’s cryptic remark.

"That someone wants to be your daughter’s father." Qin Xue fixed her gaze on Qing Zhu’s face.

"Wishful thinking. I carried her for ten months and gave birth to her. Why should he get to be her father just because he says so? Just because of a little sperm, he thinks he can compete with me for my child. It’s not that simple." Qing Zhu snapped.

"Qing Zhu, what did you say?" Two voices shouted in surprise.

One was Qin Xue, the other was Ye Xuan, who had come over upon hearing Qing Zhu’s voice to check on the little girl.

Neither had expected such explosive news. Qin Xue understood it clearly, while Ye Xuan, although not grasping the ’little sperm’ reference, got the gist. So, Yuran was really his daughter. The revelation was too sudden.

"I didn’t say anything. Did you hear anything?" Realizing her slip, Qing Zhu regretted letting her temper get the best of her.

"We heard everything." Qin Xue and Ye Xuan unexpectedly replied in unison.

"Haha, then you heard wrong. Xuexue, I have something to do, I’ll head back first. Let’s meet up another time." Qing Zhu was really looking for an escape. This was a nightmare.

"Running away might not be possible." Qin Xue calmly remarked, looking at the man behind Qing Zhu who seemed about to explode.

"Xuexue, you have to help me. It’s not like I didn’t want to say it, I only remembered this morning, and what’s the point of a man who just wants to plant seeds without taking responsibility?" Qing Zhu turned away from the approaching man, then pouted at Qin Xue’s remark.

"Qing Zhu, does this mean you’ve regained your memory?" Qin Xue caught onto this crucial point, not even noticing Qing Zhu’s use of Xuexue.

Whether in a past life or this one, only two people called her by that name, but now Qin Xue was focused on something else and didn’t notice the change in Qing Zhu’s address.

"Yeah, but shouldn’t we focus on getting me out of here now?" Qing Zhu hid behind Qin Xue, trying to avoid the man approaching her with a stern face.

She had every right to be on the defensive, so why did she suddenly feel a bit guilty? She hadn’t done anything wrong, right?
