Chapter 48: THE LIAM MOORE

Daniel, Liam’s manager hurriedly rushed to where Liam stood at the entrance of the building.

Liam had entered the moment Mateo pushed a girl to the floor. It happened so fast that he barely had time to register the girl’s face but when he took a closer look, he noticed it was Ava. Her face twisted in pain, and Mateo looked over her grudgingly.

"Is she the one that attacked Miss Whitlock out of frustration because she got rejected for the registration?" Mateo asked the receptionist who looked at Sasha and Chloe nervously.

"Yes, Sir," she lied.

Before the little drama had escalated to this, Chloe had asked her to phone the manager claiming that Sasha was attacked by Ava. The girl had refused but when Chloe mentioned the Whitlock’s name to her, she did what she was told. It was foolish to go against a Whitlock.

Mateo’s frown deepened. "Security," he called to the guard standing in front of them. "Escort her out."

As the men walked toward Ava to take her out of the building, Liam’s cold voice froze them in place.

"What the hell do you think you’re doing?!"

Ava winced as she stared at Liam. Hating that someone she knew and cared about saw her this way, she slowly pushed herself up, but Liam was already by her side, kneeling to help her. His gaze softened as he looked at her. "Are you okay?"

Ava nodded stiffly, though the pain in her back told a different story. "I’m fine."

On seeing Liam, Mateo’s face became ashen. He couldn’t understand why the one of the owners of the fair was here and why he was helping Ava.

Liam’s eyes darkened as he straightened and turned to Mateo. "You," he said coldly. "What the hell did you just do?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Mateo stammered, his hands trembling. "S-sir, I- I didn’t mean to push her." When he noticed Sasha was fine behind him, his confidence suddenly returned. He thought Liam was mad at him because he pushed Ava, but he was sure Liam had not noticed Sasha behind him.

There was no way his boss was going to get angry when he sees that Ava was fighting with Sasha who was a Whitlock. He just had to explain this to him. "She was attacking Miss Whitlock and I was just trying to stop this from escalating."

"Escalating?" Liam’s sharp tone was enough to make Mateo flinch. "You pushed my little..." He barely stopped himself before he uttered sister. "...her because of who? Her?" He looked at Sasha distastefully.

Everyone was shocked by Liam’s question, especially Mateo whose mouth fell open, but Sasha became even annoyed as she wondered who Liam was to address her that way.

Sasha was about to step in when Chloe dragged her back to stop her from interfering. Enraged, Sasha turned to yell at Chloe, but before she could speak, Chloe already shut her up with, "It’s actor Liam!"

"Huh?" Sasha looked at Chloe confused as she tried to process what the girl was saying.

"Look closely, Sasha." Chloe sounded more excited than earlier when she was shocked. "It’s the Liam Moore."

Chloe barely stopped herself from grinning like a child. She’d had a crush on Liam from the first time she watched his movie. Seeing him this up close, she couldn’t stop her heart from fluttering. He was even more handsome in person.

It took a few seconds before Sasha registered his face. What was a Moore doing here? And why was he helping Ava?

Sasha frowned. Unlike Chloe who was overly excited to see Liam, her family had a history with them, one that made them despise the Moores.

Is that why he was taking Ava’s side? Because of their feud?

"You’re done here. Pack your things," Liam said to Mateo, stunning everyone including the receptionist who was now trembling slightly.

Mateo’s shoulders slumped. "Mr. Moore, please-" he began, but Liam cut him off.

"Don’t test my patience, Rodriguez. You should be grateful I’m not throwing you in jail for assault."

He turned to the guards standing nearby. "Escort him out. And make sure he doesn’t step feet into this building ever."

Without hesitation, the guards escorted Mateo out of the building.

Turning to the receptionist, "And you," Liam only said before she fell on her knees.

"I am so sorry, Mr. Moore. It wasn’t my fault." She pointed to Sasha and Chloe. "It was all their fault. They were the ones that started everything."

Chloe’s face turned grim at the girl’s revelation. "How dare you lie against me, you peasant?!" She barked, hating that all of these were exposed in front of her crush.

"That is enough!" Liam snapped. Turning to another guard, "Escort Miss Whitlock and her friend out as well," he ordered.

The guard hesitated, glancing nervously at Sasha, who glared at him in disbelief. "You can’t do that!" she hissed.

"I can, and I just did," Liam said icily. "If you want to file a complaint, feel free to bring it up with the board, but I guarantee you’ll regret it."

The guard moved quickly, gesturing for Sasha and Chloe to follow him. "You’ll pay for this, Liam," Sasha spat as she stormed past him.

"I’ll be waiting," Liam retorted.

Once they were gone, Liam turned his attention back to Ava, who was now standing but still looked shaken. "Are you sure you’re okay?" he asked again, his voice softening.

Ava hesitated, glancing at Sasha and Chloe as they took them out of the building. "I’ll live," she said flatly.

"I am so sorry for the embarrassment, Ava," Liam apologized guiltily, stunning Ava.

Since he walked in, he’d constantly been surprising her. "You don’t have to apologize, Liam. If anything, I should be thanking you for helping me," she said with a small smile.

"You don’t have to do that as well," he said between a smile. "I’m guessing you finally made a decision concerning this." He gestured to the entire building.

Understanding what he meant, Ava nodded slowly. "Too bad I couldn’t register. It ended before I could."

"That’s not a problem. You can register now if you’re still interested," Liam said softly.

Ava stared at him surprised.
