REBORN OF THE LEGENDARY BEAST MASTER-Chapter 36 - : The Hunters in the Dark
Chapter 36 - 36: The Hunters in the Dark
Li Jun moved swiftly through the dense forest, following the directions given by the Grand Elder.
The Ruins of the Forgotten Age were still far away, hidden in an uncharted region beyond the borders of the Beast Master Academy.
But as he traveled deeper into the wilderness, a chilling sensation crept up his spine.
He was being followed.
His All-Knowing Eye activated, scanning the surroundings.
No beasts nearby.
No visible threats.
But... a faint killing intent lingered in the air.
Li Jun's expression darkened.
> They're skilled. Normal people wouldn't sense them.
But he was not normal.
A Sudden Ambush
SWOOSH!
A dagger whistled through the air, aiming straight for his back!
Li Jun twisted his body mid-step—
CLANG!
His sword deflected the attack, sending sparks flying.
Before he could counterattack, three masked figures emerged from the shadows.
They wore black robes, their faces hidden, their auras sharp and disciplined.
> "You noticed us. Impressive."
The tallest assassin stepped forward, his voice calm.
> "Hand over the jade token. We might let you live."
Li Jun narrowed his eyes.
> "You're after the ruins too?"
The assassin chuckled.
> "You ask too many questions. Just die."
Fierce Battle in the Forest
BOOM!
The assassins attacked at once.
Li Jun's body moved instinctively—
Side step to dodge a blade.
Counter-slash to break a dagger.
Jump back to avoid a poisoned needle.
His combat speed overwhelmed them.
> They're Sky Realm cultivators. But only at the lower stars.
For an ordinary person, this battle would be deadly.
But for Li Jun?
It was a warm-up.
> "You picked the wrong target."
He vanished—appearing behind the first assassin in an instant.
SLASH!
A clean cut.
The man collapsed, blood spraying onto the ground.
The other two hesitated.
> "He's stronger than we thought!"
They tried to retreat—
But Li Jun didn't let them.
> "Void Step."
WHOOSH!
He disappeared, reappearing in front of them.
One slash—a head rolled.
A palm strike—ribs shattered.
In just seconds, the assassins were defeated.
The last one gasped, blood dripping from his lips.
> "Y-you... don't understand... The real threat... is still coming..."
Then he died.
Li Jun wiped the blood off his blade, his expression unreadable.
Who sent them?
And what did they mean by "the real threat"?
He turned his gaze toward the distant mountains.
Whatever was waiting for him at the Ruins of the Forgotten Age...
It was far more dangerous than these assassins.
