Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 422 - 413: Nancy Allen Smiled at Him
Basil Smith stepped back: "I’ll head out first. After you go through the company profile in the afternoon, I’ll come by again."
Julius Shaw mumbled an acknowledgment, feeling too withdrawn to speak.
Nancy Allen suddenly called out to Basil Smith, "Basil, send a lunch to the security siblings downstairs."
Nancy thought about the feverish girl, who wasn’t really suited to have that takeaway food.
Basil Smith was puzzled as to how the Young Madam knew the security guards downstairs: "Alright, I’ll arrange for someone to send it down."
Basil Smith exited the office.
Julius Shaw still kept his head down, not standing up or speaking.
Nancy sat on the sofa in the lounge area, softly speaking, "I came to bring you lunch; are you unhappy? Otherwise, I can leave."
Julius Shaw quickly stood up, walked over to Nancy: "Don’t leave. It’s just that I can’t even use a computer, Nancy. Learning this, give me a bit more time."
Nancy’s hand slightly trembled as she set the tableware: "Alright, I’ll teach you how to use the computer this afternoon."
Nancy’s coming to bring him lunch actually made Julius Shaw very happy.
For Julius Shaw, regardless of Nancy’s purpose in looking for him, just her coming to him already made him very happy.
Even if Nancy was just trying to repeat things done with his brother, it’s alright.
Being treated as a stand-in, having such experiences together, he didn’t need to immerse himself in jealousy.
The two of them had lunch together.
Still drowsy, Nancy naturally went to Godfery Shaw’s lounge.
At the lounge entrance, Nancy turned around to ask Julius Shaw, "Godfery Shaw, do you want to rest together?"
Julius Shaw shook his head.
Nancy entered the lounge alone and began her nap.
Julius Shaw sat back at his desk, opened a drawer, and looked at the cards inside.
The first card read: "May all your wishes come true." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Still, there was some envy.
After Nancy fell asleep, Julius Shaw started reviewing the materials sent by Basil Smith.
He didn’t want to learn, but he would learn.
Everything Nancy hoped for, he would strive to do.
Nancy slept in the lounge for two hours.
When she woke, she went to teach Julius Shaw how to use the computer.
Julius Shaw’s understanding of the computer was: you don’t know me, and I don’t know you. He only recognized the power button.
Nancy patiently said, "You don’t need to know the technical stuff. The materials Basil Smith usually copies over are all in this folder. Try moving the mouse."
Nancy saw Julius Shaw’s hand wasn’t positioned correctly on the mouse. She instinctively placed her hand on Julius Shaw’s.
Her hand was small, soft like a kitten’s paw, gently resting on Julius Shaw’s hand.
Nancy’s voice whispered near Julius Shaw’s ear, "With your hand like this on the mouse, as you move your hand, the cursor on the computer will follow."
Feeling that Nancy was a bit strained, bending over him like that, Julius Shaw held Nancy’s waist gently and pulled her to sit on his lap.
Nancy was slightly annoyed, "Don’t mess around, learn properly."
Julius Shaw earnestly replied, "You sitting here makes it easier to operate."
Nancy was accustomed to physical contact with Godfery Shaw, and she didn’t resist.
Her petite frame seemed to fit snugly in Julius Shaw’s embrace, teaching him how to use the mouse and keyboard.
Watching Julius Shaw angrily punch the keyboard like a wolf cub, Nancy couldn’t help but laugh.
She chuckled, "No one types like that. You’re going to break the keyboard."
Julius Shaw paused, staring blankly at Nancy.
This smile was meant for him, wasn’t directed at the brother, purely because of him.
Nancy seemed to realize something, her smile froze.
Stiffly, she said, "Alright, continue practicing. I’ll wait for you at the flower house after work."
Like fleeing, Nancy left the office.
She needed to remain calm at all times.
Nancy took the elevator downstairs, and the noise interrupted her thoughts as the doors opened.
The receptionist was loudly scolding, "Thomas Carter, I need the lounge cleaned now. Your sister must get out. This is a company, not your home, bringing your sister here every day disrupts work. Are you shameless getting paid here?"
Thomas Carter’s face flushed red, "I... my sister hasn’t caused anyone any trouble."
The receptionist relentlessly pursued, "No trouble? Her staying here is causing trouble. This isn’t a refugee shelter. If you want to take care of your sister, resign and go home to take care of her. Now we’re cleaning, hurry and take her away."
Thomas Carter didn’t understand why the receptionist deliberately made things difficult for him, his face red with anger, yet unable to find a rebuttal.
Because he knew bringing his sister to work was inherently wrong.
He was paid to be devoted to his work.
However, with no one else at home, the siblings relied on each other. He couldn’t care for his sister while working; he couldn’t quit without earning money for her treatment and medicine.
A simple man like Thomas Carter was overwhelmed with shame.
Ruby Carter held her brother’s hand, gently shook her head, "Brother, I’ll go home. It’s okay, you don’t have to worry about me. If I feel unwell, I’ll call you immediately."
Dejectedly, Thomas Carter said, "But home is too far from the company. If something goes wrong, I... I won’t be able to make it back in time."
Ruby Carter regretted her illness, constantly being a burden to her brother over the years.
In that moment, Ruby Carter suddenly had a thought: If she died, would her brother be free, able to live well?
Nancy, stepping out of the elevator, happened to catch Ruby Carter’s gaze.
That look holding a desire to die was too familiar to her.
She had once thought so, believing death to be repayment.
But after seeking death, she realized she owed even more.
With Nancy’s arrival, the argument stopped instantly.
The receptionist, feeling uneasy, still seriously explained, "Madam, Thomas Carter’s behavior is out of line. Bringing a sick person to work should result in immediate dismissal according to company rules."
Nancy replied, "She’s here, indeed not according to the rules."
Hearing Nancy say this, the receptionist lifted her chin, disdainfully looking at the Carter siblings.
Thomas Carter felt humiliated and frantic, repeatedly saying, "I shouldn’t have brought my sister to work. Please don’t fire me; I will work well. I promise I will work well."
He badly needed the job, as its income covered the medicine his sister needed.
No matter how the receptionist bullied and scolded him, he would endure.
Ruby Carter watched her pleading brother, her eyes growing sadder.
Nancy then walked over and gently rubbed Ruby Carter’s little head comfortingly.
With death still in her eyes, Ruby Carter blankly looked up at Nancy.
Nancy said to Thomas Carter, "She can’t stay at the company, but she can come with me. I’ve a flower shop behind Cloudglow on the back street. Your sister can stay there; I’ll install a monitor in the flower shop. You can check on her condition anytime. If she feels unwell, running over from Cloudglow takes only a few minutes. Is that alright?"
