Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession-Chapter 230: His mother
Adrian turned around to look at Ella.
Ella rubbed her eyes as she looked at him, "When did you come?"
Adrian looked at her in silence.
"Forget it. Come, come, we decided to sleep together," Ella released his hand and scooted to the other side of the small bed.
Adrian did not budge from his spot.
"Don’t just keep staying up at nights like vampires..." Ella nagged.
Adrian tugged off his tie. One by one, he removed all the layers, the coat, the suit jacket, the vest until he was down to his black shirt.
After removing his shoes, he unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt...
Ella’s sleep flew a little as she laid still, admiring the view in front of her. As he rolled the sleeves of his shirt, she gulped...
The bed sank lightly as Adrian laid down beside her.
Ella coughed, finding her conscience slightly, she batted her lashes, "Baby, you look quite good at night..."
Her words had yet to finish before he tugged at her hand and yanked her forward, hugging her like she was his personal pillow, "Be good," the man’s low voice caressed her ear.
Ella felt like the day when her ears would get pregnant was not far away, "I am being very good..." She mumbled and turned into a comfortable position in his arms.
Ella opened her mouth to speak but when her gaze landed on Adrian, she shut her mouth. The man had his eyes closed, and his breathing had turned even.
Did he fall asleep just like that? In the blink of an eye?
Ella waved her hand slowly in front of him but there was no movement from the man.
A conflicted expression flickered in her gaze as she looked at his face.
Ella knew that Adrian was right outside Dr. Xiao’s office room, during her treatment today. And both the days before.
And even if he was not around, she knew that Dr. Xiao would never not tell him about her condition.
Yet, Adrian did not ask her a single question about it.
Muddled in her thoughts, Ella did not realize when she drifted off into sleep.
The blanket had gathered around her waist and she instinctively hugged her body in her sleep.
In the darkness, the arm around her tightened as Adrian buried Ella deeper into his arms, his grip unusually possessive.
...
"No more treatments?" Ella looked at Dr. Xiao.
The old man sighed, "I am sorry to let you down, Mrs. King. But with your current condition, it would not be wise for us to push you further."
Ella fell silent.
Ella had tried all ways to eradicate the fear she had felt during the last moments of her previous life. But it seemed to be ingrained in her body, refusing to set her free.
When she agreed for the treatment, she had been afraid that her secret would be laid out in the open.
However, Ella decided to take the risk. But all along, she had felt like this treatment would not be a success.
She just had not expected Dr. Xiao to stop the treatment midway.
The old man prescribed her some medications, taught her some breathing techniques and other stuff before assuring her, "In the future, we will give it another try."
Ella ignored the complicated feelings in her chest and hooked an arm around Adrian’s, "We will visit you soon again."
Dr. Xiao nodded with a smile, "Oh, bring that brat with you too."
Ella was bewildered. "Who..."
...
In a mysterious black Bentley.
"So, Ronan is actually Dr. Xiao’s disciple?"
Ella marvelled when Adrian nodded his head.
No wonder Adrian had called Ronan incompetent a few days ago. When compared to his Master, he would naturally lag behind.
After spending days in Country A, it was finally the day they were departing to Country V.
And Ella felt a lot calmer than she had been a few days ago.
At this moment, Ji Yan had just turned the wheel to take the highway when a sleek black car swerved out of nowhere and blocked their path.
Ji Yan slammed the brakes. The tires screeched and Ella lurched forward.
Within a split-second, she pulled into a pair of strong arms.
"Are you fine?" Adrian asked, his voice low and cold.
Ella nodded slowly, knowing where his anger was directed.
Before Ella could say a word, a man in a dark grey coat stepped out from the obstructing car and walked over to them.
The man didn’t even glance at Ella or Ji Yan. His eyes were solely on Adrian as he leaned slightly, "Second Master, Mrs. King has requested to meet you."
Adrian didn’t move. If anything, a layer of frost covered his face, "Drive."
The words were undoubtedly directed at Ji Yan who immediately moved.
But the man in grey calmly continued speaking, "Mrs. King also said..." He paused, letting his words linger before adding, "She’d like to visit you and Miss Yu."
Adrian looked up, sharp and slow.
For a moment, the air in the car changed.
Adrian said nothing. But the muscles in his jaw flexed.
The movement was unnoticeable but Ella did not miss it.
She held his hand.
Adrian turned to her, his gaze softening, "Go ahead first."
"What about you?"
Adrian leaned towards her and pressed his lips on her forehead.
The soft sensation left Ella in a reverie for a moment.
And before she could snap to her senses, Adrian had stepped out of the car.
Ella watched as at a little distance, the man opened the lavish car’s back door, holding it for Adrian who got in wordlessly.
Ella sat back slowly, her throat tightening for reasons she couldn’t name.
"...Let’s go," she said, barely above a whisper.
Ji Yan glanced at her through the rearview mirror and nodded before stepping on the accelerator.
The silence in the car stretched long and heavy.
Ella looked out the window, eyes unfocused. One couldn’t tell what she was thinking.
After a while, she opened her mouth, "What kind of person is Mrs. King?"
