Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 258: Find Her a Husband’s Family to Discipline Her
Chapter 258: Chapter 258: Find Her a Husband’s Family to Discipline Her
Sang Ran heard Wen Qing’s words, and tea spilled onto the table.
She hurriedly pulled out a tissue and bent over to wipe the table.
Wen Qing noticed her reaction and raised her voice unconsciously a few notches, "He has never touched you!"
"Auntie! This is our private matter! Can you please stop asking?"
Sang Ran was flustered, and in her haste, she smeared the water everywhere on the table, some of it accidentally spilling onto her legs.
The water stain ran down along her skirt, starting from her knees, she felt nothing.
She looked at her prosthetic limb, her hand pausing in mid-wipe, her complexion growing worse.
Gong Chen had never touched her.
If he despised her for being disabled and didn’t touch her, she would have accepted that.
But Gong Chen was good to her. Sometimes when her prosthetic limb was uncomfortable, he would kneel down and readjust it for her.
His eyes never held a trace of disgust.
Nor did they hold... desire.
Wen Qing watched Sang Ran daydreaming and wiped the water off the table for her, then refilled her cup of tea and placed it in her hands.
Then, with meaning, she said, "Xiao Ran, your mother entrusted you to me. How could I possibly not care?"
"Every man has desires. It’s impossible for the Third Young Master to be without them at his age!"
Sang Ran snapped back to reality, staring at Wen Qing with suspicion.
"Auntie, what are you trying to say?"
Wen Qing clicked her tongue, frowning and said, "You silly girl, always thinking of others, not knowing what sordid things they do behind your back."
Sang Ran’s expression faltered slightly, "Others? Who?"
Wen Qing raised an eyebrow disdainfully, slowly enunciating a name.
"Lin Zhiyi."
"Even before Song Wanqiu’s time, she made the trending searches for a fling with the Third Young Master. It was only suppressed later. Now, the incident about her being kept as a mistress has been exposed again. As the saying goes, ’a crooked stick will have a crooked shadow’, she’s a habitual offender."
"To have a car accident right in front of the house during the New Year, doesn’t she know that you and the Third Young Master are about to get married? Who knows if she did it on purpose to draw attention?"
Wen Qing rambled on, and Sang Ran listened with furrowed brows, finally standing up swiftly.
She argued with righteous indignation, "Auntie, the Second Young Master said it was a car problem. How could Zhiyi possibly predict that?"
"And about the rumour of a fling you mentioned, that was already clarified."
"Auntie, don’t you always say that women always face injustice in society? Then why, whenever such gossip arises, do you start by criticizing the woman? Sex isn’t something a woman can accomplish alone."
Upon hearing this, Wen Qing was taken aback, stood up with displeasure, and stared at Sang Ran.
"Am I not doing this for you? You came here to get married, not to be a widow! What’s wrong with being cautious? Lin Zhiyi and the Gong Family have no blood ties, she and the Third Young Master..."
"Auntie, please stop," Sang Ran interrupted, her lips pressed tightly, her expression clearly distressed.
"Alright, alright, I’ll stop," Wen Qing walked over to her, took her hand, "Xiao Ran, your auntie just wants you to be happy."
"Mhm."
"You look tired, so I’ll come to see you another day."
Sang Ran nodded absentmindedly, unable to suppress the words Wen Qing had said.
Wen Qing glanced lightly over her face, her lips curving slightly, then turned and left.
After everyone was gone, Sang Ran sat in a daze for a long time.
...
As Wen Qing was preparing to leave, she coincidentally ran into Old Mr. Gong and they chatted for a bit.
The old gentleman looked her over and praised, "President Wen hasn’t changed much over the years, yet her abilities are even more formidable than men’s."
"Hardly. My minor skills don’t come close to a fraction of what Old Mr. Gong accomplished in his prime," Wen Qing responded with respectful flattery.
Old Mr. Gong laughed, then got back to the point, "It’s a pity that your marriage was delayed."
Wen Qing was pondering the deeper meaning of Old Mr. Gong’s words, when she raised her eyes and saw two figures across the corridor.
It was Gong Shiyan and Liu He.
Gong Shiyan took out a box of pastries from his coat.
Even from such a distance, Wen Qing felt she could see the steam rising from the pastries.
Many years ago, Gong Shiyan used to be just like that with her.
She was still studying, while Gong Shiyan had already been successful in managing one of the Gong Group’s subsidiaries.
Back then, the Second Young Master wasn’t the shrinking violet he is today.
Whatever she craved, a single phone call ensured that she saw him at the school gates holding the food she wanted after class.
But now...
Liu He had the starry-eyed look of a schoolgirl in love.
Even without hearing her voice, one could tell from her mouth that she was calling out "hubby."
Ha, as if a slut like her was worthy?
Gong Shiyan said something, took Liu He’s hand, and the two of them left, carefree.
Wen Qing took a deep breath and turned to look at Old Mr. Gong, her eyes filled with a touch of resignation.
"If I can’t find someone suitable, it’s quite nice to be single."
"I didn’t expect you to be so sentimental," Old Mr. Gong understood immediately.
Wen Qing just smiled without replying, thoughtfully saying, "Right now, I just want to take care of Xiao Ran’s wedding properly. That way, I won’t let her mother down with her dying wish, but..."
"What’s the problem?"
"With Lin Zhiyi stirring up such a mess during the festival season, it’s just bad luck, making me uneasy. Plus, with her past issues with the Third Young Master and now rumors of being a kept woman, how can I confidently entrust Xiao Ran to the Gong Family?"
Wen Qing looked troubled, her hesitation evident.
Old Mr. Gong frowned upon hearing Lin Zhiyi’s name, his eyes filled with disgust.
The marriage alliance between the Sang Family and the Gong Family was a big deal, and any negative rumors could impact both families.
But Old Mr. Gong could still see through Wen Qing’s genuine and feigned emotions.
So, he didn’t beat around the bush and directly asked, "What do you propose we do about it?"
Wen Qing sighed, realizing that old ginger was indeed spicier.
She laughed lightly, "Lin Zhiyi isn’t getting any younger. Even though she is a jewelry designer, in the end, she just wants to marry someone wealthy from the circle. Wouldn’t it be better to find a suitable match for her, so she can properly play the role of a young mistress?"
Old Mr. Gong stood with his hands behind his back, his eyes seriously upon Wen Qing, already guessing what she was about to suggest.
He didn’t say it outright but counter-asked, "Do you have someone in mind?"
Wen Qing feigned contemplation, her sharp eyes observing Old Mr. Gong’s expression.
Although she was Sang Ran’s nominal aunt, she wasn’t a Sang Family member by birth and couldn’t be too presumptuous in her actions.
Old Mr. Gong caught on to her thoughts, feeling somewhat emotional.
If Gong Shiyan had married Wen Qing back then, would there be so many issues now?
Gong Chen would never have met Lin Zhiyi!
Thinking of Lin Zhiyi, Old Mr. Gong felt extreme loathing and finally opened up, "Lin Zhiyi lacks discipline. Finding a family to properly control her would be good for her as well."
With Old Mr. Gong’s words, Wen Qing’s smile carried a bit more scorn.
"I don’t mean to hide it from Old Mr. Gong, but I’ve recently been discussing a partnership with the Cheng Xi He Family in Jing City. A few days ago, when having dinner with Mrs. He, she complained that her son couldn’t find a suitable woman."
"The He Family?"
Old Mr. Gong thought of something, paused for a moment, then shot a few appraising glances at Wen Qing.
Indeed, she was someone capable.
"The He Family is also quite reputable in Jing City. Mr. He is quite the catch, and Mrs. He is traditional, observing all the proper forms. Lin Zhiyi would be marrying up, and after the marriage, it won’t take long for her to fall in line."
Wen Qing smiled meaningfully.
"What you say is indeed true, but I have already driven Lin Zhiyi out, I cannot make decisions for her," Old Mr. Gong hinted.
"What about Liu He then?"
