Reborn to Redeem: Their Abusive Love-Chapter 62: Taboo
Chapter 62: Taboo
Xu Si thought about escaping.
Not from the mansion, but from the Underground City.
Her newly acquired mobile phone had barely warmed up in her hand when she impatiently dialed Anshi. She asked him to contact her noble classmates overseas to find two Identity Cards for the Underground City and come get her.
Once Anshi heard that the Young Miss had lost her Identity Card and was in trouble, he quickly asked if she wanted to contact the police station.
The rain was cool and refreshing. Xu Si laughed helplessly on the phone, "It’s no use. The police can’t get in. Only if I get an Identity Card can I leave."
During the call, she inquired about the company’s situation and chatted from four-thirty in the morning until six before lying back down on the bed.
Before closing her eyes, the fang pendant on her chest exuded a cool sensation.
She didn’t take it off but clutched it with her fingers, caressing it gently.
A life-and-death plan seemed less important after a kiss; after all, in life, living was what mattered most.
In her previous life, she too had forcibly kissed someone after drinking. Perhaps this was just her turn in the cycle of fate.
She didn’t dislike him.
Maybe it was the pressure from the unfortunate events she had experienced, but Xu Si dreamed of a cocktail party from long ago.
After so long, the details were long forgotten.
She only remembered the terrifying man she had forcibly kissed that day; his lips felt remarkably similar to today’s kiss.
However, some dreams are forgotten. How one felt at the time could be completely lost upon waking.
After four years, if not for a photograph, Xu Si would have nearly forgotten the youthful appearance of the man who had perished in a maritime disaster.
「The next day, the nighttime rain turned into morning dew.」
When Xu Si got up, she first went to the lattice window to look out. She carefully observed that all the servants had been replaced and many luxury cars were parked in the garage. The members of the Triad Society passing by had an extraordinary air about them. Each one could be a fearsome character, enough to make people shudder.
It was a scene often seen in foreign movies.
Xu Si only glanced briefly before dressing in the same clothes as yesterday and stepping out of her room.
Holding a gun, she closely examined every corridor of the mansion, memorizing all the details and trying to make her way to the mansion’s perimeter.
Occasionally, she would encounter a few men clad in black overcoats.
They did not stop her or speak to her.
They simply went about their own business.
Seeing this, Xu Si gradually grew bolder; the silver-haired man did not seem to intend to restrict her movements.
She was free.
But until she obtained an Identity Card, she wasn’t foolish enough to go out and court death.
After returning to the mansion, she aimlessly wandered through the quiet floors. Not long after reaching the top floor, a servant hurried after her, calling her name frantically.
"Madam, you can’t go in there."
Xu Si stopped. Looking at the door at the end of the corridor, she suddenly remembered a bizarre story—
—a curious heroine who, despite warnings, opened a prohibited door, discovering earth-shattering secrets hidden within the castle, only to be murdered to silence her.
At that moment, Xu Si felt she was very much like that heroine. Her heart trembled slightly as she resisted the urge to open the door and looked at the servant, her fine brows arched.
"Is there something important inside?"
In the real world, the only rooms one couldn’t open were confidential ones.
"Not at all," the servant shook his head, coldly stating, "The Boss is resting inside. No entry is allowed at this time." frёewebnoѵēl.com
Xu Si felt somewhat disappointed. But she thought she heard faint footsteps from inside the room. Remembering last night, she smiled faintly, withdrew, and borrowed an empty study to call Chen Mo.
She had never stopped thinking about self-rescue.
Armed with a gun and a knife, she even considered trying her luck in the Gambling City again, hoping someone would be willing to sell her an Identity Card.
The prerequisite was that the silver-haired man would agree to lend her a few men for close protection, ensuring her absolute safety.
She had to devise a way to get him to agree.
Thus, the night quietly drew to a close.
Xu Si stayed in her room, waiting for new clothes and for the silver-haired man to arrive so she could discuss borrowing bodyguards.
Unfortunately. She had miscalculated.
The silver-haired man had said he would personally buy her clothes, but he never said he would personally deliver them.
The one who came knocking with shopping bags was the bald giant who had saved her. He had an unlit cigar clenched between his fingers. He handed the shopping bags to Xu Si, glanced involuntarily at her slender, fragile wrists, and frowned slightly before calling a servant over.
"You, take these inside."
The servant took the large and small bags from his hands and said, "Yes, Lord Hei Shi."
Hearing this name again, Xu Si was surprised for a moment, a corner of her mouth twitching. So the bald man was Lord Hei Shi. It certainly suited his fierce and loyal face.
The servant took out all the clothes from the shopping bags and organized them.
Xu Si caught a glimpse of a women’s suit jacket. It was exquisitely tailored—a custom design from a luxury brand, paired with a pale blue fishtail skirt.
His taste was indeed good. He hadn’t bought her overly sweet dresses, nor did he have a tawdry eye for fashion.
She quite liked these clothes and shoes.
After a moment’s thought, Xu Si smiled at Hei Shi and asked warmly, "Mr. Hei Shi, has Fei Yi returned?"
The bald man pondered for a moment before he belatedly realized who "Fei Yi" referred to. He answered in a flat voice, "He’s back, on the top floor. Why?"
The bald man was never very enthusiastic. To be precise, every member of the Triad Society was quite detached.
Having received the answer she wanted, Xu Si smiled faintly, her clear eyes concealing her true intentions.
"Nothing, just asking."
As night completely devoured the light, Xu Si quietly took the elevator to the top floor.
The moment the elevator arrived, Xu Si suddenly felt like a thief. The air here was constricted, suffocating. She walked with slow steps to the end of the corridor, took a deep breath, and gently knocked on the intricately carved, grand door.
The night mist was chilling.
The atmosphere was silent. Armed men were hidden nearby, yet no one stopped her small movements.
If it had been anyone else, they would have been shot dead before even stepping out of the elevator.
Xu Si listened intently. Inside, she again heard footsteps similar to those from the daytime: slow, light, and stealthily approaching.
CLICK. The door lock opened.
Only one side of the double doors moved. The silver-haired man, wearing his mask again, leaned against the doorframe. His long fingers held a wide-mouthed Whisky glass. Seemingly unsurprised to see her, his voice lifted at the end, the tone drawn out as he spoke, "You’re here. Come in."
After speaking, he turned and walked into the room.
Xu Si watched the sway of his hair from behind. Drinking again, she grumbled to herself. Still, she followed him inside.
The room was floored with carbon-black, soft-sheen patterned tiles, creating a low-saturation ambiance with a distinct Italian style. Brass ornaments added a unique texture and depth to the space.
It exuded an atmosphere of luxury, mystery, and authority.
When Xu Si entered, he was already seated on the leather sofa. As if suddenly remembering something, he asked, "The clothes I personally picked—are you satisfied with them?"
"Satisfied. The styles are all very good." Xu Si also remembered something and couldn’t help but ask, "Did you buy them outside the Underground City?"
She found it hard to imagine him, accompanied by the bald giant, shopping in a mall. The sheer number of terrified stares they would attract from ordinary people...
