Reborn to Redeem: Their Abusive Love-Chapter 65: Dangerous people are always dangerous
Chapter 65: Dangerous people are always dangerous
Xu Si wasn’t joking. Too many doubts were emerging. She felt thoroughly played. The sudden death, the sudden appearance, his constant wearing of a mask, bringing her to his side, teasing, kissing, embracing—none of these interactions could be considered appropriate for an aunt and nephew relationship.
He had crossed the line excessively. She had been too lax as well.
This realization made it impossible for Xu Si to return to the feelings of harmony they once shared. Some things, once changed, can never be repaired.
The current Pei Zhen was too foreign to her.
Xu Si tilted her head back slightly and had no choice but to be extremely alert. Upon realizing there was no escape, she parted her bright red lips.
"Azhen, let me go. Aren’t you afraid of dying?"
The rain wailed like ghosts and howled like wolves, fierce and unrestrained. The man reached out a hand, enticing, slightly lifting his bewitching face, and effortlessly hooked her restless hand.
The air was filled with the mingling scents of cedar and heavy wood.
He merely hooked her hand, without using force. His eyes were dark and inscrutable as he lovingly stared at Xu Si’s increasingly charming eyes and let out several chuckles from his throat.
"Why would I be afraid of dying?"
His voice deepened, still pleasant to the ear, but with a cool timbre.
"Let you go, and then what? Let you escape to a place even further away from me?"
The atmosphere was indistinct and elusive.
Xu Si closed her eyes, stopped talking, and pursed her lips. A sense of immorality rose within her.
Under the heavy storm, the top of the towering castle was the first to be ravaged by the violent winds.
After a long while, Xu Si said softly, "Azhen, time waits for no one. You’ve grown up; we shouldn’t be like this."
"Heh," the handsome man in front of her lowered his head and chuckled softly, "Auntie, did you really consider me your nephew?"
Xu Si’s heart skipped a beat again.
That feeling of losing control was occurring frequently, sending everything off track.
All she could do was hold onto the Military Knife, without saying a word.
He truly wasn’t afraid of a sharp knife piercing his back. He bent over, silver hair falling in wisps upon her arm. His distinct collarbone, his long, pale neck, and that face, so handsome it seemed unreal, were revealed as he suddenly lowered his head to her shoulder.
His emotions changed rapidly.
The god-like handsome figure suddenly appeared desolate, shedding the posture of the ’King’ of the Underground City. His ethereal voice was very soft, a near-silent whisper into Xu Si’s ear that conveyed a multitude of unspoken words.
"Xu Si, you’re right, time waits for no one. And the one waiting for you is me."
"That day, when I heard that a businesswoman from Hong Kong Island was in the Gambling City, I put everything aside and rushed to find you. The moment I saw you, I almost cried."
"I avoided you. The people of the Underground City never harassed Xu’s Real Estate or forced you to attend the parties. But you came anyway, and it was at that party that I let you go once."
"Why did you come? Why come to my place, this place you’ve always been afraid of?"
"Now that I’ve finally brought you back, taken away your Identity Card, and forced you to stay, this time, I don’t really feel like letting you go."
He extended a hand—pale and fragile—to cover his face, his lips twisting into a manic, paranoid, and cruel smile.
"Don’t give up on me, and don’t try to escape. Without my permission, you can’t leave."
DRIP-DROP.
The sound of water trickled onto the glass window, seeming to drench one to the core.
What did it feel like to be meticulously stalked by the Devil?
Xu Si felt a shiver run from her feet to the very tips of her hair, a coldness as if she had been drenched by icy winter water.
Ever since she set foot in the Underground City that day, he knew she had arrived.
The chance encounter was a lie, the robbery was a lie, the stolen Identity Card was a lie. All were part of his scheme to make her unable to leave.
No wonder. The Triad Society hadn’t minded tarnishing their image, spreading the news that she had lost her Identity Card and forcing her into a corner with nowhere to run. They even killed those two robbers to buy time.
All these events, one after another, were airtight, like inescapable shackles. He stood in the middle, the shackles hidden, a mere spectator manipulating everything, luring her willingly into this place, to his side.
She almost admired Pei Zhen—detestably so.
But...
Xu Si’s voice trembled slightly, "You’re asking me to stay, but for what?"
RUMBLE—BOOM!
The thunder roared as if exploding, shattering the heartstrings of every timid soul, like a continuous volley signaling the end of the world.
He lifted his head again, his tall nose nearly touching hers, his breath spraying lightly, his delicate eyes scanning every inch of her snow-white cheek.
Suddenly, he lowered his head.
As if to lightly press a kiss on the side of her lips.
But he didn’t.
He stopped just a few centimeters away.
He suddenly smiled, his eyes regaining their usual noble and punitive demeanor. His voice, unhurried, lofty yet affectionate, and mingling with the night breeze, said,
"Xu Si, stay. Be my lover. Or, let me be yours."
Xu Si’s figure swayed slightly, and her heart skipped a beat. That feeling of being played rushed back.
She brought the knife handle dangerously close to his skin, took a deep breath, and her voice couldn’t help but tremble for a moment.
"Azhen, I’m not a good person. Let go, or we’ll die here together."
That move seemed to trigger the man’s insane gene.
He smiled brilliantly, his gray eyes shockingly bright, eerily so.
"Are you afraid of me?"
He straightened his body without concern, grasped her knife-holding hand, and slowly moved it to his own chest. His eyes were lowered, his voice husky and somber, his tone dropping as he spoke.
"Have you always wanted to kill me? You hate me."
The rain gradually grew heavier.
Xu Si contemplated speaking, demanding he let go. She thought about simply taking him hostage, getting the Identity Card, and escaping this place for good.
Everything tonight was too strange.
So much information bombarded her; she didn’t know whether to be happy or sad.
But just as she was about to speak...
She suddenly felt the knife in her hand being pushed forward slightly, urged by a pair of pale yet beautiful hands, with a force so heavy that she widened her eyes.
SHLICK!
The sharp, coldly glinting Military Knife tore through the silk cloth, ripped through skin, pierced bone, and plunged entirely into the man’s handsome, pale chest. Immediately, a liquid sprayed out, soaking their intertwined hands—warm, copious, and a glaring, eye-searing red.
DRIP. DRIP.
Falling to the ground.
His disheveled silver hair danced wildly, also dyed red by the blood. His strikingly handsome, regal features remained noble, and even as life ebbed away, his smile was enchanting and fearless.
Letting go of Xu Si’s slender hands, he gently caressed her cheek with fingertips covered in blood. For the first time, his touch was incredibly tender, gentle; beneath his icy eyes lay a hint of indulgence.
"Then let me teach you how to stab me where it hurts the most."
It all happened in a fleeting moment.
The air was filled with the scent of blood.
Xu Si watched the noble and imperious man standing there, barefoot in a black robe, the tips of his silver hair stained red. Only one thought echoed in her mind.
She should never have provoked him.
Dangerous people are always dangerous.
