Reborn With a Money-Making System: Ruined Actress to Nation's Treasure-Chapter 95: The Husband Who Got Friend-Zoned
"They don’t!" Helcia said with a cheerful smile. "But we’re special friends, so we can do anything couples do and still stay just friends!"
Lando’s jaw tightened as he quietly gritted his teeth, his hands curling into fists at his sides. There were many things running through his mind, but he chose to keep his composure and replied calmly, "I see..."
They sat together in the garden for a while, long enough to finish their cheesy baked potatoes. "Let’s go home," Lando said softly. "The air’s getting colder."
Helcia nodded and helped him up, guiding him toward the car. On the way back to the mansion, she suddenly mentioned wanting to stop by a costume shop, and when she came out, she was carrying a dragon costume with a huge grin on her face.
Lando had no idea what she planned to do with that ridiculous thing, but he didn’t ask. His mind was too full of other thoughts that had been bothering him since earlier.
As soon as they arrived home, Helcia ran straight to the cat room, excited to tell her cats that she’d just received a wedding ring from her husband.
Meanwhile, Lando dropped himself onto the couch in the living room, his body sinking deep into the cushions. He stared blankly at the ceiling until Henry walked over to him.
"Henry," he muttered, his voice low. "I feel... really bad."
"Yes, Young Master." Henry placed a warm cup of tea on the table in front of him. "What’s wrong? I thought you just had a good time with Young Madam."
Lando let out a long, exhausted sigh, sounding like someone who had just come back from a war. Even when drowning in work for weeks, he’d never looked this miserable.
"My wife just told me that we’re friends," Lando muttered. "We’re going to be friends forever."
Henry tilted his head, frowning in confusion. "Isn’t that a good thing, Young Master? It means Young Madam wants to stay with you for the rest of your life."
Lando immediately turned to him, looking completely done with life. "Friends, Henry—friends!" he burst out. "I’ve been friend-zoned by my own wife! Can you believe that?! What kind of man gives a woman a wedding ring and thinks, ’Oh, this would be a perfect gift for my friend’?"
Henry pressed his lips together, trying not to laugh as his Young Master ranted like a man ready to eat a whole dinosaur out of frustration.
Not many people knew this, but Lando could actually talk a lot, especially when he was alone or with someone who had been close to him for years.
But because of everything he’d gone through in the past, he’d grown quieter, more reserved, and awkward around others.
To be honest, Henry was probably the only one who’d ever seen the real Lando. After all, he’d been with him since the Young Master was just a little boy in elementary school.
When Lando got into an accident overseas, Henry was the first to volunteer to go and take care of him, even after Victor Brixton told him he wouldn’t get a single bonus for looking after his "useless son."
Those days were some of the hardest for both of them. At the time, Henry’s daughter was only five, so he had no choice but to move his small family abroad just to stay by the Young Master’s side.
Lando had told him to just leave him alone, but how could he? That poor boy had been lonely his whole life, and Henry knew that if he left him alone again at his lowest point, Lando might not have had the strength to keep living in such a cruel world.
He still had a mother, but years of harassment from Victor’s legal wife had slowly broken her mind until she was eventually sent to a mental hospital.
In the end, Lando truly had no one else. He was completely alone in the world.
Luckily, Henry’s wife, Maya Fletcher, also took pity on the Young Master. So together, they decided to take care of him while working part-time jobs overseas to earn a little extra money since Victor Brixton only ever sent them just enough to survive.
Lando once told them to just use the money his father sent for his treatment, but Henry would always get upset whenever he said that.
Over time, the Young Master—who once thought his life would end in that tiny apartment—slowly began to crawl out of his depression and turn his life around.
He started studying hard again, began learning about cryptocurrency and even reached out to some of his old friends who had already become experts in the field to teach him.
He then used all the money his father had given him and managed to turn it into a profit. In the meantime, he also took on many freelance jobs.
He worked on things like web development, cybersecurity analysis, and data recovery, anything that challenged his mind and allowed him to work from his computer. Sometimes, he even did crypto-related freelance tasks, such as building trading bots or creating secure wallets for clients.
Those jobs not only helped him earn extra money but also rebuilt his confidence and gave him a sense of purpose again.
After years of hard work and loyalty, Henry finally saw the results of everything he had done for Lando.
From that moment on, his small family never had to struggle with poverty again. His wife was able to open her own flower shop without fear of going bankrupt, and his daughter studied abroad for free with Lando personally sending her a monthly allowance.
Lando once told Henry that he didn’t need to keep working for him anymore, but Henry chose to stay, not because of duty, but because he didn’t want Lando to feel lonely.
Everything changed when the Young Madam finally arrived at the manor. When Henry learned that Helcia had gone through the same pain Lando once did—both born as illegitimate children—he couldn’t help but feel sympathy for them.
But when he finally met Helcia in person, she turned out to be nothing like he imagined. She was a burst of sunshine and laughter, filling the once quiet manor with warmth and noise. Even the housemaids seemed happier whenever she was around.
And among everyone, the one most affected by the arrival of the cheerful Young Madam was, without a doubt, Lando.
"Henry, are you even listening to me?" Lando snapped his fingers in front of him when Henry didn’t respond.
Without realizing it, Lando had been ranting about being friend-zoned for nearly twenty minutes straight. No wonder Henry’s ears were ringing and starting to burn.
"I am, Young Master," Henry said with a patient smile. "But if you really don’t want to be seen as just a friend, then maybe you should be honest with Young Madam. Nothing will change if you just keep quiet."
Lando looked away, then leaned back on the couch with a heavy sigh. "You make it sound so easy," he muttered. "But what if she thinks I’m weird... and decides to pull away?"
Henry chuckled softly, thinking they looked more like awkward teenagers than grown adults in love. Still, he could understand because it seemed like neither of them was familiar with those kinds of feelings.
"Just do what you’ve always done, Young Master," Henry said kindly. "You’ll never know the result unless you try."
Lando had built his success through persistence, he was falling countless times, yet always standing back up. But this time, things felt different. Love wasn’t something he could calculate or control.
"I don’t know," Lando murmured, letting his head fall back against the couch as he lay there. "Maybe being friends forever isn’t so bad."
It was the first time he had ever trusted someone with his whole heart, aside from Henry. That was exactly why he was so afraid of taking the wrong step and ruining what they already had.
Henry sighed softly. "That’s not a good idea, Young Master. Young Madam is still very young. Right now, she may not be thinking about romance, but the future always changes."
He paused, then added, "Even if friends stay by our side, humans still long for romantic relationships, and if you can’t give her that... someone else eventually will."
Lando fell silent for a long moment after hearing Henry’s words. Then, out of nowhere, he suddenly straightened his back.
"No," he said firmly. "There are too many predators in this cruel world. What if she ends up falling into the hands of one of them?"
Especially now that she had stepped into the entertainment industry, Lando didn’t want his wife to end up getting hurt or longing for affection from another man.
"Yes, we can’t stay just friends," Lando said suddenly, pushing himself up from the couch with determination in his eyes. "I’ll talk to her right now, Henry."
Lando was already walking to Helcia’s room when Henry called out from behind him, "Young Master, you forgot your crutches."
Lando froze mid-step, then looked down at his empty hands. "Right..." he said before turning back to Henry. "Thank you, Henry."
"Anytime, Young Master," Henry replied with a small smile.
