Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 197: She Has Another Man
"Huh?" Leo Keane finally snapped back to reality, suddenly realizing what he had just said, and hurriedly covered his mouth.
Unfortunately, it was too late; Jonas Hawthorne was already squinting at him.
"Speak."
One lifeless word, filled with displeasure and threat!
Leo Keane swallowed hard, and only then did he relay what he had heard from Leon Grant.
"Well... I’m not sure if it’s true, but isn’t there someone named Anton Kincaid by Leon Grant’s side? I heard him talking to Leon Grant, and apparently, that night Jordan Holden hosted a masquerade ball. Raine also attended, and it seems something happened that night with Leon Grant..."
Leo Keane stammered as he spoke, not daring to take it too seriously.
After all, he had only overheard it midway, and wasn’t sure about the truth of the matter.
After hearing this, Jonas Hawthorne’s whole demeanor had already cooled!
"What happened?" he repeated the words through gritted teeth.
"How... how would I know what happened?" Leo Keane scratched the back of his head, unsure of what to say, "Just... just that thing between a man and a woman!"
Anton Kincaid had put it quite bluntly, but Leo Keane was a bit embarrassed.
But even so, he could clearly sense the murderous aura emanating from Jonas Hawthorne!
His heart skipped a beat, and Leo Keane hurriedly explained, "Please, don’t be angry... it might not even be true, I..."
Before Leo Keane could finish, Jonas Hawthorne squinted again, dangerously, "A masquerade ball? The night I was unconscious?"
"Ah, yes!" Leo Keane quickly reacted and nodded.
Hearing this, Jonas Hawthorne fell into deep thought.
That night, he heard from hospital staff that Raine Sinclair had come to see him, then left for a while, and soon returned to the hospital with medical equipment.
The whole thing took no more than two hours; considering the travel time and having to persuade Jordan Holden, time was incredibly tight.
How could anything have happened with Leon Grant during that time?
That night, Leo Keane was held up by something and had no idea what really happened, regretting now that he hadn’t attended that ball!
Seeing Jonas Hawthorne lost in thought and not talking to him, he quickly asked, "Are you okay?"
Even though Leo Keane didn’t think he had misheard.
After all, Leon Grant had been discussing marriage with Raine Sinclair...
If he truly said there was nothing between them, Leo Keane wouldn’t believe it!
Looking at Jonas Hawthorne’s heartbroken expression, Leo Keane couldn’t help but comfort him, "Hey, buddy, don’t be too upset. After all, you broke up with her first. Now she’s with someone else, it’s only natural. I’m telling you, there are plenty of women in the world; why cling to just one? Just let her go!"
The more Leo Keane said, the more he got into it, completely unaware that Jonas Hawthorne’s face had already fallen to the abyss!
"Shut up."
He coldly threw out two words, seeming to touch a nerve, as his eyebrows knitted tightly!
Leo Keane widened his eyes, not daring to make another sound.
Jonas Hawthorne said nothing more and started walking into the darkness.
Leo Keane hurriedly followed, "Where are you going? Aren’t you going to take care of your injuries?"
"I’m going to see Jordan Holden," Jonas Hawthorne replied, his footsteps unwavering.
This stunned Leo Keane, "Why see him so late at night?"
——
By this time, Jordan Holden had already gone to sleep.
In the middle of the night, Jonas Hawthorne dragged him out of bed!
Opening his eyes and seeing Jonas Hawthorne, covered in injuries and with a pale face, Jordan Holden thought he was dreaming.
"What’s going on?"
Turning over and sitting up, Jordan Holden quickly assessed the surroundings, confirming he was in his own bedroom, and finally breathed a sigh of relief!
He thought for a moment he had been taken to some strange place in the middle of the night!
"Did Raine Sinclair go to the masquerade ball that night?" Jonas Hawthorne asked in a deep voice.
"..." Jordan Holden was momentarily dazed before his brain started to function, "That night? Yeah, Raine went... I even prepared a special mask for her, why?"
After so many days had passed, why bring this up now?
"What mask? Was it a white princess mask?" Leo Keane, trailing behind Jonas Hawthorne, piped up to ask.
"Yes." Jordan Holden nodded again.
The mask was still in Leon Grant’s office, something Leo Keane had also told Jonas Hawthorne.
At this moment, Jonas Hawthorne’s eyes were filled with a blazing fury, and he asked again, "She didn’t come back after taking the medical equipment that night?"
"Probably not..." Jordan Holden recalled.
He had a lot of social engagements that night, and after Raine Sinclair left, he didn’t see her again.
Whether the girl returned afterward, he didn’t know.
But seeing Jonas Hawthorne ask him in such a hurry, he raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Did something happen?"
He had lent Raine Sinclair quite a bit; the girl couldn’t afford to be in trouble!
"Not for the time being." Leo Keane shook his head, also aware of the situation where Raine Sinclair had delivered the medical equipment.
Calculating the timing, it was indeed too tight.
Unless Leon Grant only took three seconds?
Looking at his physique, he shouldn’t be that quick...
But if it wasn’t three seconds, how come the timing doesn’t add up?
In the silence between them, Jonas Hawthorne abruptly glanced back at Leo Keane, "You wait for me outside."
Leo Keane turned his eyes, not questioning why, and just nodded before heading out.
As he left, he made sure to thoughtfully close the door for the two of them.
Having been by Jonas Hawthorne’s side for years, Leo Keane had more or less heard some business secrets.
Most of them were the kind that could bring trouble just by knowing them...
Despite being curious, he’d rather remain uninformed considering the trouble it could bring.
Spending time gossiping could be better spent figuring out how to secure more contracts?
After Leo Keane left, Jonas Hawthorne finally spoke to Jordan Holden, "Thanks to Mr. Holden’s medical equipment, my grandmother’s life was saved. I, Jonas Hawthorne, am deeply grateful."
Ever since Silas Linton’s recovery, Jonas Hawthorne hadn’t had the time to personally thank Jordan Holden.
Also, with the Hawthorne Group frequently facing crises, if he rashly went to see Jordan Holden, it might trigger media speculation, resulting in bad rumors potentially impacting the Hawthorne Group’s stock price.
But tonight, there was a convenient pretext, and coming after nightfall drew less attention.
Upon hearing this, Jordan Holden felt comforted and flashed a smile.
"Mr. Hawthorne, you’re being too polite. Since I could be of assistance, I, Holden, will surely do my utmost! But as for the medical equipment..."
Before Jordan Holden could finish, Jonas Hawthorne already promised, "In the future, across all medical channels under the Hawthorne Group, as long as Mr. Holden’s medical equipment is qualified, it will traverse unhindered."
"Really?" Jordan Holden was so excited he jumped out of bed, eyes wide at Jonas Hawthorne.
