Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 204: That Night, I Was With a Man
Fiona Calton could tell what her daughter was anticipating just from that look in her eyes.
Sighing, she patted her daughter’s hand again, advising, "Stop looking, dear. Raine definitely won’t come. I just hope after we leave, she can find some peace and forget the pain we caused her."
Lily Sinclair did not speak, she continued to gaze longingly at the airport entrance, hoping for a miracle to unfold.
Once upon a time, no amount of words could describe the turmoil and regret within her heart. Now, it was truly time to part, and only then did she understand how tormenting this pang of sorrow cresting within was.
"Let’s go." Samuel Sinclair urged as well.
No matter how much attachment and reluctance there was, it couldn’t change the impending separation.
If that’s the case, then why add more wounds to the heart?
Feeling downcast, Lily Sinclair looked longingly at the entrance hall one last time, but still didn’t see the figure she longed for. She finally sighed, turned around, and walked through the VIP passage with her parents.
In the end, she had hurt her cousin’s heart.
That unspeakable secret might as well be buried abroad alongside her!
Walking through the lengthy corridor, as she turned around the corner, Lily Sinclair lowered her eyes slightly, and a hot teardrop slid down her cheek.
Three minutes later.
When Raine Sinclair and her family arrived, they were told Lily Sinclair had already boarded the plane.
"How could this be? Didn’t we ask for the flight to be delayed? How did you handle this?" Sharon Jennings angrily questioned.
"Don’t be mad, Madam Chairman. We didn’t receive any notice either, this..." The summoned manager felt aggrieved; no such notice had been received.
Evan Sinclair knew that this urgency was also for the benefit of the two children, hence he gestured with his hand, "Alright, don’t be anxious anymore. She’s gone already, maybe it is God’s will."
Raine Sinclair, listening on the side, had a tinge of regret in her eyes.
If only they had been earlier, perhaps they might have made it...
Previously, when she had seen such near-miss scenarios on countless TV dramas, it always felt exaggerated. How could just a few minutes lead to a lifetime of missing someone?
Now that this had really happened to her, she deeply understood the regretful feeling of such a near miss.
While lamenting internally, her phone suddenly vibrated.
"Buzz! Buzz!"
Raine Sinclair instinctively snapped back, picked up her phone, and saw it was Lily Sinclair calling!
Her eyes widened instantly, and she quickly answered the call.
Before she could speak, she already heard Lily Sinclair’s anxious and slightly teary voice on the other end.
"Cousin! I’ll tell you! I can tell you everything you want to know! Just don’t be mad at me anymore. I don’t want to leave, I want to be sisters with you for life!"
Raine Sinclair was taken aback; her eyes showed a trace of a smile, "Don’t cry first, where are you?"
"I’m at the airport..."
As soon as she heard that, Raine Sinclair raised her eyes and saw Lily Sinclair coming out from the VIP passage.
Upon seeing her, she couldn’t hold back any longer and ran towards her as if flying!
"Sis!"
She cried out, and in the blink of an eye, dashed to Raine Sinclair’s side, hugging her tightly, crying like a child.
"Wow! I don’t want to leave you!"
Raine Sinclair was stunned.
Nearby, both Evan Sinclair and Sharon Jennings were also taken aback.
They had thought the girl had already left, who knew not only she hadn’t left, but she suddenly dashed out to hug their daughter?
Upon looking back at the VIP passage, Samuel Sinclair and Fiona Calton also quickly walked out.
The couple was also startled by the scene before them.
But quickly, they started to laugh.
Raine Sinclair’s presence indicated that she had already forgiven Lily.
It seemed after all, the sisters couldn’t be separated.
Samuel Sinclair walked towards Evan Sinclair, "Brother, you’re here."
Evan Sinclair looked at his only younger brother, not having the heart for his family to stay abroad and never return.
Now that the two children were on the same page, that couldn’t get any better.
Even though Evan Sinclair didn’t say anything, he stepped forward and hugged his brother tightly.
Both of them had tears welling up in their eyes at the same time.
Countless words were all captured in that one embrace.
Fiona Calton also looked at Sharon Jennings, tears already forming emotionally.
"Sister-in-law, we..."
"I know, I know it all..." Sharon Jennings promptly patted her hand and, looking at the two children nearby, suggested, "There are too many people at this airport, not a good place to talk. Let’s head back first? We can talk at home."
This last suggestion was particularly directed at Lily Sinclair by Sharon Jennings.
Fiona Calton nodded, "Yes, Lily, let go of your sister. She’s pregnant, be careful!"
On hearing this, Lily Sinclair quickly let go of Raine Sinclair, standing obediently aside, sniffing, "Sis, did I hurt you?"
"No." Raine Sinclair shook her head with a smile, seeing Lily Sinclair run out from the passage earlier, she knew she could never harden her heart against this little sister. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Most of her anger had subsided, now she just wanted to hear what Lily had to say.
Both families finally exchanged smiles and left the airport together.
In the car, Lily Sinclair cried all the way, saying she was too emotional, and she couldn’t stop once she started.
When they returned to the Sinclair Family, Lily finally started to feel better.
The adults of the two families chatted in the living room downstairs, while Lily followed Raine Sinclair upstairs.
The two sisters, like before, always whispered secrets in their boudoir.
Raine Sinclair looked at her, eyes swollen from crying, and said helplessly, "You’re made of water, how can you cry so much?"
Lily Sinclair was unconvinced and immediately retorted, "It’s clearly you who’s made of water. I broke one of your crystal glasses before, and you cried for two whole days!"
"That was when I was little, and you still bring it up?" Raine Sinclair glared, feeling like her blackmail for a lifetime was in Lily’s hands.
"I don’t care, no matter how small, you’re still my sister." Lily suddenly said something nonsensical, snuggling up and holding Raine’s arm close.
It’s still better to be with sister like this.
Raine Sinclair also smiled, and the sisters sat like this for a few minutes in silence.
No words were spoken, but both enjoyed this kind of atmosphere immensely.
Relations can be severed just like that.
But those memories they once shared couldn’t be erased, no matter what.
At a certain moment, Lily Sinclair suddenly spoke.
"Sis."
"Hmm?" Raine Sinclair responded.
"I’m sorry." Lily said with great remorse, "It’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have..."
"It’s all in the past." Raine Sinclair cut her off.
Taking this in, Lily took a deep breath and summoned the courage to say, "The night of the masquerade party, actually... actually, I was with a man."
