Regression Guidelines For the Supporting Character-Chapter 50: 6. Revelation
[KHS Exclusive] “Please save us”—A Rift that went undetected appears... A hero throws himself into danger and averts catastrophe.
(Video Clip)
[Anchor]
Last Friday, two rifts opened in Ui-dong, Gangbuk District.
The ones who stopped this incident from turning into a mass casualty disaster were none other than the Yesung Guild and the current Rank 1 Hunter known as “Cover.”
Here’s crack Rift correspondent Lee Beom-joo with more details.
[Report]
Collapsed buildings and destroyed roads—remnants of the brutal battle against monsters that poured out from the rift.
On Friday, the Rift Management Bureau and the Yesung Guild responded to the first rift near the Ui-dong valley.
But that wasn’t the end. A second rift appeared—this time right above the Ui-dong subway station.
[Ui-dong Citizen]
“It scared the hell out of me. The sky split like glass, and there were strange noises... I stepped outside and people were running for their lives.”
According to reports, the second rift went completely undetected, even by the Bureau.
It appeared an hour and a half after the first rift, roughly two kilometers away.
With no backup available, the person who held back the monsters and evacuated civilians was none other than “Cover,” the recently crowned Rank 1 Hunter.
[Ui-dong Citizen]
“I couldn’t run because I was trying to protect my little brother. Monsters were closing in... I thought we were dead for sure. But then that Hunter showed up and saved us. Thanks to him, we both got out alive...”
The Hunter called “Cover” is said to have held off the monsters and protected civilians on his own until the Yesung Guild’s reinforcements arrived.
Citizens unanimously credit “Cover” with preventing massive casualties.
The Rift Management Bureau has now made an official statement declaring their intent to identify this “Cover.”
This has been Lee Beom-joo, KHS News.

(Anonymous 1) “Fuck the Bureau. Stay the hell out of it for once.”
└ Fr, do they not have shame?
└ Can’t even manage a rift properly and now they’re trying to butt in everywhere.
(Anonymous 2) “Can’t imagine what would've happened without that Cover guy... terrifying.”
└ Reminds me of the Australia incident...
└ Yeah, tons of people died back then. We probably would’ve been next.
└ Those citizens being interviewed might’ve all died otherwise.
(Anonymous 3) “Kinda funny how all the people who used to bash Cover suddenly disappeared lmao.”
└ Why were they bashing him in the first place?
└ Didn’t he enter the rankings anonymously?

└ Still doesn’t make sense. The former #1 challenged him, they fought, and Cover won fair and square.
└ Exactly lol. Even Kwon Taehyuk acknowledged it, but keyboard warriors had to whine anyway.
(Anonymous 4) “Thank you, sincerely. No matter how strong he is, facing those monsters alone is insane.”
(Anonymous 5) “Is there any video of the Ui-dong fight?”
└ It’s on Neotube
└ Just search ‘Ui-dong rift’ on YouTube, go go
(Anonymous 6) “Seriously though, who is he? Nobody seems to know.”
└ Bureau’s silence makes it seem like they’re out of the loop.
└ Kwon Taehyuk has to know. He literally fought beside him.
└ Yeah, bet Kwon’s just pretending not to know lol.

“Holy shit, #1 for a reason.”
“Can’t tell what his skill is from the video though.”
“You think Kwon Taehyuk helped him for no reason? Bet he knows exactly who that is.”
“So they’re buddies now? That’s what it looks like!”
“That princess-carry moment still lives rent-free in my head lmao.”
“When did they get so close? 😂”
“People said he cheated his way to Rank 1, but he’s flying around like a goddamn superhero.”
“The government should reward him. He risked his life to save civilians.”
“That citizen interview got me. If Cover hadn’t stepped up, the casualties would’ve been insane.”
“They owe him, seriously. Meanwhile, the Bureau didn’t even detect the damn rift.”
“All the photos and ID leaks on SNS are fake! No one knows who he really is, okay?”
“That lightning at the end though... how the hell did he survive that?”
“Thank god he won. Monsters are using weapons now. That’s just terrifying.”
“Cover’s fan cafe crashed from traffic LMAO.”
“Even without a face reveal, that body? Total heartthrob.”
“Tbh, I didn’t like him since he didn’t win fair against Kwon... but after this? I’m a fan. Ui-dong folks probably worship him now.”
“All articles related to Ui-dong have been reviewed, and anything problematic was taken care of immediately,” said the secretary.
Kwon Taehyuk flipped through the document handed to him, then asked, “What’s the Bureau’s response?”
“Not good,” the secretary replied with a weary sigh.
“They seem convinced you know who Cover is and keep reaching out about him. The media’s bombarding us with interview requests too.”
Kwon Taehyuk smirked slightly.
That made sense. The coordination between him and Cover during the last fight was too clean, and the leaked CCTV footage captured every moment. The Bureau and press were bound to smell blood.
“Let them waste their energy for now.”
There was no need for him to step in and clarify anything.
As he flipped through the documents again, a grainy CCTV image caught his eye—a shot showing Cover’s side profile.
Wind-swept blonde hair and a black mask covering half his face.
Kwon Taehyuk stared at the image, blinking slowly.
‘He slipped away °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° again.’
Caught up in helping the injured, he hadn’t even noticed Cover’s disappearance.
Of course, the lives of his guild members were more important than Cover’s identity, but still—missing that chance stung.
‘I should’ve pinned that fox down and figured out who he really was.’
Clicking his tongue, Kwon spoke again. “What about Guildmaster Won?”
“Fortunately, there’s been no mention of him yet...” The secretary hesitated briefly, clearly troubled. “There’s nothing in the media or online, but within hunter circles and the Bureau... rumors are spreading.”
“What kind of rumors?”
“That a supporter with an AoE healing skill saved dying hunters in the field... that sort of thing.”
“...Hmm.”
Kwon Taehyuk rubbed his chin, brows drawn.
Maybe God had helped them—thankfully, not many guild members had been close enough to Cha Seohu during the event. Most were scattered, focused on rescuing and treating the injured.
A few who were near him might have seen something, but either didn’t recognize Cha Seohu, or hadn’t realized he was the one who used the healing skill.
But that was just a hopeful assumption. The truth was, Cha Seohu had used a skill in a public space. They’d need to be careful to prevent word from spreading.
“It’s chaotic right now. Get the guild members to keep quiet—especially Team 1, the ones who followed me on site.”
“Yes, sir.”
“You’re dismissed.”
The secretary bowed lightly and left the office.
Now alone, Kwon spun his chair halfway around and looked out the window. The blue autumn sky was crisp, the sun shining pale and bright above.
For some reason, the image of Cha Seohu came to mind—kneeling without hesitation on the dirty ground strewn with monster corpses and debris, healing an injured stranger.
“...Haah.”
Kwon let out a heavy sigh. He felt ashamed of having doubted Cha Seohu.
The boy who’d been trapped as a test subject in a lab with his sister. Too much of a textbook victim. So pristine it made him uneasy—that’s why he had doubted him.
But what he saw that day was just a young man hiding his strength and doing everything he could to protect his sister.
‘That’s why he pretends to be a B-rank supporter.’
An Awakened with two skills—something the world had never seen before.
Both were likely S-rank: one for buffs, one for healing.
‘If that truth got out, it’d be a disaster.’
Now he understood perfectly why Cha Seohu hid his power.
If he wanted a normal life while protecting his sister, this was the only way. If word got out, he’d end up dragged back into an illegal lab just like before.
“...I’ll need to keep an eye on him for a while.”
Part of it was debt—he owed Seohu. But that wasn’t all.
The sight of Seohu with radiant wings, sincerely healing people, reminded Kwon of a devout priest.
He couldn’t get Cha Seohu out of his mind.
Scowling at the sky for no reason, Kwon eventually bowed his head with a sigh of surrender.
‘I should bring something and visit him.’
Just saying sorry wouldn’t be enough to soothe his conscience.
And besides, they had a lot to talk about... especially regarding those skills.
