Regressor's Harem Of Vengeance-Chapter 30. Mira’s First Monster Hunting.
"But..." Emma pouted but obeyed as everyone focused on their meal.
After dinner, as everyone cleaned their dishes, Helen pulled Ray aside and asked. "Ray? Can we talk? Privately?"
Ray nodded, his face showing a worried look. "Um, sure."
They stepped onto the porch and remained silent as they gazed at the setting sun.
Helen was quiet for a moment, then she spoke. "It seems you and Mira have become really intimate these past few weeks."
Ray’s eyes widened in surprise the moment he heard the words that came out of his mother’s mouth.
Though Ray and Mira had always made sure to be intimate during night hours when everyone would be asleep, there had also been nights when Mira’s moans couldn’t be suppressed, making them loud enough to wake anyone from their sleep.
Ray had expected his mother to have heard Mira’s moans during one of those nights, but now that Helen had confirmed his assumptions, Ray was taken aback a bit. "Yeah, but you see, the thing is...."
"It’s fine Ray. I’m not upset and neither am I here to interrogate you. I just wanted to let you know that you need to be careful."
"Careful?" Ray furrowed his brow with a puzzled look on his face.
"Yeah, Mira is like a daughter to me and I don’t want to see her hurt. What I’m trying to say is that I do not want to see the two of you become forced into something you’re not ready for." Helen explained and the edge of Ray’s lips stretched into a smile as he finally realized what his mother was talking about.
Seeing how both of them were always busy at night, Helen was clearly talking about pregnancy.
"It’s fine, Mom. We’re being as careful as we can be."
Helen studied his face for a long moment, then she smiled warmly. "I know you are dear and I trust you, both of you."
Helen added as she placed a hand on his shoulder and gently placed some pressure on it. "But try to keep your excitement on a low next time. Don’t forget, you two aren’t the only ones living in this house." She winked and Ray smiled with a nod.
Helen smiled back before heading back to the house while Ray stood alone on the porch.
The next morning, Ray and Mira ventured into the forest together.
It was different from their usual routine of doing chores or farm work in the morning and sparring in the afternoons.
Today, would be the first day Mira hunted a beast, and as such, they had to leave the house as early as possible.
Upon entering the forest, Ray handed Mira a real spear.
He had recently bought the spear from Marcus with the coins he had gained from selling monster parts, and Mira carried it with a proud and confident smile on her face as she mentally prepared herself for what was to come.
"Alright, your first targets are over there. They’re goblins with levels ranging from level four to six. So, I believe you should be able to handle them on your own." Ray explained as he spotted and pointed at a small group of goblins camping together near a cave.
Luckily for Mira, there were only three of them, so she would definitely be able to handle them on her own.
Realizing this as well, Mira tightened her grip on her spear and nodded in understanding and determination. "I’m ready." She said, then crept forward and quietly approached the three goblins.
Her movement was silent and the goblins couldn’t sense her presence because Ray had taught her basic stealth, along with how to move without snapping branches, and how to control her breathing while trying to sneak up on a monster.
Meanwhile, the three goblins were currently crouched around a dead rabbit and were arguing about who would get the biggest piece of its meat, so none of them were able to detect Mira behind them.
Mira had already set her eyes on the smallest goblin and she moved even closer to it, but the wind blew past her and her scent wafted into the little goblin’s nostrils.
The little monster turned around in shock and its yellow eyes locked onto hers.
For three very long seconds, everything turned still, then the little goblin shrieked and charged.
However, Mira swiftly recovered from her own shock, then she set her stance exactly as Ray had taught her and thrust her spear forward.
The blade was plunged into the Goblin’s chest and it gurgled before dropping to the ground.
However, the other two goblins had now noticed her, and they immediately charged towards Mira at the same time.
Mira pulled her spear out of the dead goblin before spinning around to face the other two goblins.
The level 5 goblin was holding a mid-sized club and it swung it straight at Mira’s head but she blocked its attack with her spear shaft. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Meanwhile, the Level 6 goblin tried to flank her but Mira kicked backwards without looking and her foot connected squarely with the goblin’s face, causing it to stumble backwards.
Mira swiftly made use of this opening to thrust at the Level 5 goblin and her spear pierced straight through the goblin’s throat, causing blood to spray all over the floor as it collapsed.
On the other hand, the Level 6 goblin had recovered from her initial attack. So it lunged and aimed its dagger straight towards Mira’s stomach but she side-stepped it, kneed it in the stomach again, making it double over, then she brought her spear down on the goblin’s back.
Not once, not twice, but three times.
The goblin finally stopped moving and the forest became silent once again.
Standing over the three corpses and breathing very hard, Mira noticed her spear smeared with blood and dripping onto the floor.
"Are you okay?" Ray rushed over and asked with a worried look on his face as he appeared behind her.
It was Mira’s first battle against monsters and right now the thick smell of blood was in the air, so it wouldn’t be strange for Mira to feel nauseous from the scene around her.
Any adult would feel the same after experiencing what she just had and that was why Ray had a worried look on his face.
