Regressor's Harem Of Vengeance-Chapter 33. Cuddling Under The Stars.
"Because I saw something. It felt like a memory, but I could feel that it was yet to happen. I saw you crying, Ray. You were holding a letter Marcus had written to you, and the letter said... It said that I was..." She couldn’t finish saying what she saw.
Ray stayed silent.
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing right now.
’Did Mira have the ability to see future events?’ He thought.
’No, that’s impossible.’
’If she could, she wouldn’t have asked if I’d had a vision.’
’Moreover, only awakened individuals were capable of having skills, be it combat or noncombat skills.’
’Then why would she suddenly have a vision of me reading the letter Marcus had sent to me.’
’No, wait a minute. Maybe it wasn’t a vision, but a memory?’
’Then that would mean that Mira was able to see the memories of my first life.’
’But how?’
’The Harem Mark skill?’
’Yes, that had to be the reason why.’
’But I thought the skill could only allow us to feel each other’s emotions?’
’Does this mean that there was more to the skill than just sharing emotions and skills?’ Ray wondered as he drifted his gaze back to Mira.
"Mira..." He called out while opening his arms so she could come closer to him.
Ray could see how troubled she was by what she had seen, so he wanted to calm her down by snuggling and cuddling her.
Mira, on the other hand, didn’t waste a second to seek his embrace and her cute Tauren ears dropped down as she rested her head on his shoulder and buried her face in his neck.
Her tail instantly curled and spiraled around one of his legs as she sighed softly.
Seeing this, Ray smiled and gently patted her on the head.
The Harem Mark skill was truly remarkable in the best way he could have ever imagined.
Thanks to the skill, Ray could feel how troubled and worried she was, so it gave him a heads-up on what he needed to do to comfort her right now.
"You’re right, Mira." He said.
Although Ray still had no idea how the Harem Mark skill worked, with what Mira had said just now, it seemed like she had only been able to see the memories related to the letters he had gotten from Marcus.
Ray didn’t like lying to his beautiful girl, but there really was not much for him to say right now.
With what Mira had seen, she was able to easily relate it to what her late father had taught her, and Ray saw no qualms in aligning his explanation to her theory.
Yes he was a Regressor and yes, Mira only knew half the truth, but protecting her physically and mentally had always been his main priority.
So if he told her the full truth right now, Ray was certain that Mira would become even more troubled than she currently was.
And a troubled mind could easily get distracted and killed during combat.
He knew she would want to keep training and hunting monsters with him, but if she couldn’t remain focused during their next couple of monster hunting activities, Mira would easily get hurt or worse.
And that was something Ray didn’t want to see happen.
He cared about Mira and protecting her mental fortitude was more important right now than telling her the truth that he was a Regressor who had been treated like dirt by the heroes everyone loved and idolized.
Meanwhile, Mira sighed softly when he said that she was right.
That means that Ray had seen the future where they had died by the Baron’s hand and an upcoming monster tide.
Realizing this, Mira finally understood why Ray said there was a separate reason why he had been training really hard since he had awakened his class.
At first, she thought he had been working so hard to provide for them. But now that she knew the truth about his vision, Mira developed an even greater amount of love and respect for Ray.
Brimming with these emotions, Mira smiled and leaned even closer to him.
Knowing that Ray was training really hard to protect her made her feel really happy and giddy inside. But it also made her feel even more determined to stand by his side and grow stronger with him.
Ray felt the same way as well, so he smiled and asked them to call it a night. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
That night, the two of them lay together in Ray’s bed and were wrapped in each other’s arms.
Mira’s breathing swiftly evened out and she was now asleep, with her head on his chest and her arm on his stomach while Ray was still awake as he stared at the ceiling in front of him.
Ray wondered what could have triggered the Harem Mark skill and made it show Mira a part of his memory.
But after carefully considering the possibilities, Ray concluded that Mira must have been able to view his memories because of the countless times he had been replaying the scene of the letter over and over again in his head, right after Marcus had told him of Harvard’s arrival.
Ray had been unable to control his anger ever since and it must have played a huge role in Mira being able to see into his memories.
’Oh well, let’s not think too much about that right now.’ Ray uttered in his thoughts as he tried to focus on what was more important at the moment.
Since the Baron would most likely be arriving at Thornsville in four weeks time, after checking out other villages and towns, Ray knew that now was the time to grow even stronger.
For the past few weeks, he had been unable to find monsters with skills.
And if he couldn’t find monsters with skills, he won’t have any skill to absorb.
So, this means he had to delve even deeper into the forest to find monsters with skills for him to absorb.
In other words, Ray was going to be extremely busy in the next couple of weeks
’I can’t wait to discover what skills I’ll absorb.’ Ray muttered in his thoughts before falling asleep.
