Reincarnated As A Dragon With Cheats-Chapter 37: Dragon Of Death (2)
Chapter 37: Dragon of Death (2)
There were a total of nine goblin tribes in the vicinity of the dungeon.
Their numbers had grown quite a lot over the last three months.
On average, there were about five hundred goblins per tribe. The Chunk Tribe was a bit different. There were only 367 goblins in total, and less than half of them were capable of fighting.
This reduction in numbers was due to the constant threat from the Stone Tribe and the Frog-Men, who attacked from all sides.
Pebbles’ task was to unite all the goblin tribes, but he decided to start with the Chunk Tribe thanks to the mission.
Unfortunately, he was a step too late.
The unification process had already begun.
"Yes, master. There is a Shaman gathering goblins for reasons unknown. He has already unified five tribes, including the Stone, Teeth, Bones, Flesh, and Dirt tribes."
Azatoth’s words were sincere, and his information was valuable.
Pebbles, after choosing his second avatar, had decided to take a quick tour of the area because of the close proximity.
He did not expect to stumble upon such news.
’That’s troublesome...’
It was already difficult to unite the goblins, but now there was another layer of difficulty.
"Azatoth, have you faced this Shaman?"
Azatoth gave a brief nod.
"I lost my tail in the process, master."
The half-cut tail of Azatoth was clearly visible.
Pebbles stared at the wound for a moment.
"At that time, the Shaman was weak. I managed to pluck out one of his eyes, but he took part of my tail and my claws in return. It was five months ago, and he has not appeared since."
Pebbles finally realized why two of the three claws on Azatoth’s left hand were shorter than the others.
’Eyes... then the Shaman this time isn’t like that boss monster... but wait, how strong is this guy?’
Pebbles decided to check Azatoth’s stats and compare them with Azeth’s.

"Hmm..."
’Strong. Both of them are strong’, Pebbles concluded.
He himself was approaching Level 10 thanks to a few hunts he had done while strolling outside the dungeon, but he was nowhere near those stats.
However, he did notice a few things.
’The stat points are untouched. Does that mean they can’t use them voluntarily?’
The system responded.
[Affirmative.]
[Only the host can manipulate stat points through the skill Stat Points Manipulation.]
Pebbles understood that this ability was limited to his avatars.
But it was good enough.
He had already imagined situations where it could come in handy.
Most likely, it would be extremely useful.
"Azatoth."
"Yes, master?"
He had not raised his gaze even once until now.
"I want your help."
"Your words, master. I will carry them out immediately."
Pebbles looked far to the left, but Azatoth remained with his head lowered.
"Help Azeth unify the goblins..."
He paused and then corrected himself.
"No. Follow me and watch how the goblins are unified."
It was only then that Azatoth raised his gaze.
His eyes met Pebbles’.
Pebbles’ eyes were filled with determination and a strange fire unlike anything Azatoth had seen before.
It was not greed.
Instead, a sense of authority lingered around him.
Azatoth had been working hard for a long time.
A strange voice had always echoed in his mind.
It repeated the same commands.
[[Protect the Chunk Tribe until my child arrives.]]
[[My child will come soon. Protect the tribes.]]
[[Eliminate the powerful beasts that trouble the goblins.]]
[[Eliminate the Shaman.]]
Azatoth had completed every task except eliminating the Shaman and the Frog-Men.
That battle had been enormous.
In fact, it was the only major battle in the last few decades.
Since then, Azatoth had simply worked tirelessly to defeat other monsters.
Even after all that effort, he was only Level 23.
Leveling up was that difficult.
But Azatoth did not care.
His skills were enough to complete his tasks.
And finally, the one the mysterious voice had spoken about had arrived.
He had been searching for a name all along.
Now he had one.
And with it, he swore his loyalty.
Azatoth felt nothing but gratitude toward Pebbles as he followed closely behind him on the path toward the Chunk Tribe.
.
.
.
Meanwhile...
"Forgive my foolish brother, Lord Messenger. Forgive the sins he committed. Please calm your rage... any more and this will no longer remain a simple killing."
"Rage? Bongo, I’m chill," Azeth muttered as he sat atop a pile of corpses.
All the wolves who had challenged him were dead.
Their bodies were not cut into pieces.
Yet their organs had spilled out.
Perhaps they had vomited them out?
Shaka could not understand the horrifying scene before her.
Even her husband, Eren, who was usually unmoved by gruesome sights, could not help but plead.
"You... bastard..."
Erst’s body lay at the bottom of the pile.
Everyone except him was dead.
His feeble voice proved he was still alive, but Azeth simply ignored him.
"Tsk tsk. I thought you came to take revenge. But you just want reconciliation? What are you... a scaredy mutt, Bongo?"
"YOU-!"
"Shaka!"
Eren stopped her before she could ruin the situation.
"Haha, well, this sure is interesting. Even though I plucked his heart out, crushed it, and ate it, he’s still alive. How? What’s this miracle?"
"You bastard, you think-"
"SHAKA!"
Eren slapped her with his paw.
Shaka finally understood the gravity of the situation and fell silent.
Eren took a deep breath and spoke calmly.
"My lord, beings of the Death attribute are, in a sense, immortal. Only beings with a similar attribute can truly kill them. So I beg you... please release my brother. I swear we will never cross paths with you or your master again."
"Ah. Then are you perhaps a Death Wolf too?"
Eren had expected Azeth might force him to kill his own brother.
That would have been a devastating blow.
Maintaining his composure, he answered,
"No. I’m just a black wolf... a Night Wolf."
One of Azeth’s eyes widened slightly in suspicion, but he let it go.
There was silence for a moment.
Then Azeth spoke.
"Fine. Take your brother and leave."
Relief washed over Eren and the others.
But Azeth continued.
"But make sure you return tomorrow. My master wants to meet you."
"Y-Yes!"
Azeth kicked the corpses aside one by one.
The bodies smashed against the tree trunks, blood splattering across the bark.
Finally, the last body was revealed.
It was Erst.
Eren stepped forward, grabbed Erst by the fur, and lifted him onto his back.
As he slowly began to walk away, he spoke.
"Thank you, Lord Messenger. I will never-"
"I’m Azeth. Make sure you remember that."
Azeth smirked.
"And don’t forget the favor I did you."
"Yes..."
And Eren left.
