Chapter 227: The Demon Overlords

When I opened the [Akashic Record] and revealed that I had obtained it directly from Lilith, the entire room was thrown into utter shock. Gasps echoed through the hall, and the once calm atmosphere was instantly filled with tension.

Serena and Amelia looked at me in panic, their eyes wide and searching mine for reassurance. Vivin and Mia shared the same alarm, but I remained composed, keeping a steady hand on the grimoire.

Even the Mercenary King and Queen, Magic King Salvador, and King Aslan were struck speechless. Their silence weighed heavily in the room, like a storm that had yet to break.

But the moment the Akashic Record fully emerged from my magical storage and I began to open it, an overwhelming wave of demonic mana burst forth.

It was Lilith’s mana—undeniably hers. Since she was the one who had created this pseudo-grimoire, the presence of her energy was to be expected. But the intensity of it was terrifying, enough to shake even seasoned warriors and mages.

The reaction was immediate.

"Naoki... this mana... it’s..." Serena whispered, gripping my hand tightly.

"I’ve felt this energy before..." Amelia added, her voice trembling as her other hand clutched mine.

"No doubt about it... this is the mana of the demon woman who opened the teleportation portal for the Overlords to escape..." muttered Magi Silvanya, her voice laced with dread.

Then chaos erupted.

The Mercenary Queen lunged toward me without hesitation, brandishing a spear that seemed to appear out of thin air.

"We were too hasty in forming this alliance! We didn’t even consider the possibility of a traitor among us! You arrogant, smug bastard—are you a traitor?!" she shouted furiously as she launched her attack.

Simultaneously, Magi Char—who had been silent and composed moments before—suddenly appeared behind me, preparing to strike with his magic.

"Tch, I had no idea something like that even existed!" he muttered under his breath, clearly rattled.

Vivin and Mia tried to stop him, but he moved past them with terrifying speed, like a ghost slipping through shadows.

Now I was under attack from both directions.

Serena and Amelia immediately stood in front of me, trying to shield me from the assault with their bodies. frёewebηovel.cѳm

As the attacks closed in, I calmly called upon my magic—but rather than moving or casting directly, I summoned Runa.

"Runa, hold them back," I commanded.

"Understood, Master!" she replied firmly, emerging in her humanoid form.

Without wasting a moment, Runa unleashed her Dark Magic. She activated [Shadow Control], casting her shadow across the entire room. Darkness wrapped around the Mercenary Queen and Magi Char like tendrils, freezing them in place mid-attack.

A suffocating pressure settled over everyone present—the sheer force of Runa’s magic left the room in stunned silence. Even the aggressors could feel it.

"!!!" The Mercenary Queen struggled to move but found her body completely unresponsive.

"Heh... I didn’t expect to see her take this form," Magi Char said coldly, narrowing his eyes at Runa.

Suddenly, a voice rang out from across the room—desperate, commanding:

"Char, stop! That familiar—she’s the one who saved me and the remaining knights during our battle with the Overlords. They have no connection to the demons!" Magi Silvanya shouted.

Char immediately ceased his attack, lowering his hand and stepping back.

"She’s right! Naoki isn’t allied with the Overlords—I know that. He’s the one who saved the knights on the battlefield!" Serena declared, her voice resolute as she tried to calm the others.

"Naoki saved the entire Kingdom of Braveheart from Xir’s attack! It makes no sense to think he’d betray us now. Please, just hear him out first!" Amelia added, her tone rising in frustration.

Finally, the Mercenary Queen lowered her spear. I signaled to Runa, and she withdrew her magic. Char and the Mercenary Queen regained control of their bodies.

"Tch. This is annoying," Char muttered, clearly irritated, as he returned to his seat—only to receive a sharp scolding from Xerion.

The Mercenary Queen also returned to her place. The Mercenary King Yunho gave her a cold glare, and she responded with an awkward, apologetic smile.

"My apologies for what happened, Naoki. And to you as well, King Aslan. Now... shall we hear Naoki’s explanation?" Yunho said respectfully.

"I agree," added Magic King Salvador. "Once again, forgive the foolish behavior of my subordinate." He smacked Char on the back of the head, causing the mage to bow slightly in embarrassment.

King Aslan and I shared an awkward smile.

"It’s alright. Honestly, I think their reaction was justified. We should be cautious when dealing with anything related to demons," I said, before returning to my explanation.

This time, Runa remained by my side. She refused to leave and insisted on staying close. Eventually, she settled onto my lap, curling up comfortably—almost like a cat.

Amelia, Serena, and Lyra watched with a mix of curiosity and confusion. I knew I’d have to explain Runa’s origins to them eventually.

With the room finally calm, I resumed.

"Yes, the [Akashic Record] does indeed contain traces of Lilith’s mana. That’s because she created it herself. She compiled detailed records of the Overlords’ weaknesses and personally entrusted them to me."

Everyone stared at me in disbelief.

"How could she possibly give that to you, Naoki?" asked King Aslan, leaning forward with a perplexed look. The other kings seemed equally eager for answers.

I smiled faintly.

"Because Lilith and I... formed an alliance. She asked me to help her defeat the Overlords—and the Demon King himself."

"Impossible... An Overlord planning a rebellion?" King Aslan said, stunned.

"Is this even real...? How can you trust that?" Salvador added, his voice laced with disbelief.

"The proof is in this grimoire," I replied. "Lilith didn’t just record the strengths and weaknesses of the other Overlords—she included her own. She told me: If I betray you, use this to kill me."

I projected Lilith’s entry from the Akashic Record into the air—clear and undeniable.

"Wait... Lilith... Doomspire... That name—isn’t that the royal name of the Demon Kingdom?" Mercenary King Yunho said, his expression turning grim.

"You’re correct," I confirmed. "Lilith is the daughter of the Demon King of Doomspire."

Gasps echoed across the hall once again.

No one had expected this revelation.

The daughter of the Demon King himself, seeking to betray her kind, and placing her trust in a human.

...

I explained to them how Lilith had come to meet me. She knew exactly where I was, almost as if she had been watching me from afar. Perhaps it was because I had once passed through her teleportation portal—maybe that left a trace.

Without hesitation, she offered to form an alliance. She wanted me to help her defeat her own father—the Demon King himself. I didn’t fully understand her reasons, but she told me something that shook me to the core: the other Overlords and the Demon King weren’t planning to stop at just destroying the kingdoms of the Eldaris Continent.

Their aim... was to annihilate all life on the Celestian Continent, Eldaris, and even their own homeland—Doomspire.

In short, if they weren’t stopped, this entire world would fall into ruin.

Everyone in the room went quiet, gripped by the heavy realization of what Lilith had shared with me. The very thought of total extinction brought a tense silence. You could see the dread in their eyes as they imagined the scale of destruction.

I then explained Lilith’s current condition. I told them that although she had regained part of her consciousness, she could only stay lucid for short periods. But during that limited time, she intended to keep sharing information with me—to help us fight.

I also informed them of the state of the Overlords themselves. Because they had only recently awakened from their seals, they were not yet able to use their full power. That gave us a small but critical advantage.

As for the Demon King, we were lucky—he had not been revived yet. His seal was still intact... for now.

I went on to report the results of our previous battle. Thanks to the damage I inflicted on Nosef and Lucius, their recovery would take significantly longer. That bought us precious time.

Everything I said came from Lilith’s own words—her message to the allied kingdoms.

She warned us: if the human kingdoms remained passive and simply waited for the demons to strike, we would be doomed. That’s why she wanted to support us—not just to survive, but to fight back.

Lilith willingly shared the weaknesses of the Overlords—the one thing that could give us a fighting chance.

I then opened the central pages of the [Akashic Record], and a cascade of magical pages flew into the air. They shimmered with arcane light, suspended like a holographic projection, each sheet containing detailed profiles.

Now, everyone in the room could see the information clearly:

---

- ???? – The Demon Overlord, Rank 1st.

- Lucius Valzareth – The Light and Darkness Sovereign, Demon Overlord Rank 2nd.

- Nosef Vermoryth – The Crimson Sovereign, Demon Overlord Rank 3rd.

- Lilith Doomspire – The Dimensional Sovereign, Demon Overlord Rank 4th.

- Amethyst Onyx – The Corrupt Elements Sovereign, Demon Overlord Rank 5th.

---

The sight of it made King Aslan, Mercenary King Yunho, and Magic King Salvador rise from their seats in astonishment. So did all the heroes present.

"With this... we can finally tip the scales in our favor," said King Aslan, his voice full of hope.

"No one has ever known the precise strengths and weaknesses of the Demon Overlords before. This is like a miracle in the middle of the storm," added Magic King Salvador, awestruck.

"With this knowledge... we have a real chance at victory," declared Mercenary King Yunho, his tone firm and unwavering.

For the first time since this nightmare began, everyone in the room felt hope—a light cutting through the shadows of despair.

Even amidst the chaos and uncertainty, a new sense of unity and determination began to form.
