Reincarnated as a failed hero?! Watch me Defy Fate!-Chapter 226: Three Kingdom Alliance (II)
Chapter 226: Three Kingdom Alliance (II)
I stared at the quest window that had suddenly appeared before me, a knot tightening in my chest. In my mind, I spoke to Envi.
"Do I really have to be the one to do this? Look around—there are three kings in this room!"
Envi’s voice responded bluntly in my thoughts, "Just do it, idiot! Besides, you have that with you..."
I immediately understood what he meant—something critical, something only I knew. I nodded.
"You’re right..."
"Fighting, Master!" Runa’s cheerful voice chimed in, trying to boost my spirit. I gave a silent nod.
There was no other way. If no one else would act, then I would.
The tension in the room was unbearable. Everyone stood frozen, not just by fear, but because of the clashing auras and mana that still lingered from the Kings. The air was so dense with energy it was hard to breathe.
I had to break this oppressive atmosphere.
Taking a deep breath, I released my Dark Magic. My eyes glowed a deep violet as a swirling mass of black mana burst forth from my body, flooding the room like a tide of darkness.
"!!!"
Gasps erupted. Everyone turned toward me, visibly shaken by the sheer force of my mana. Even the rulers—the Mercenary King, Magic King, and King Aslan—looked surprised.
My magic began to dominate the room, swallowing the remnants of the other auras.
Then I spoke, my voice firm and clear:
"Please, everyone... calm down."
That was the first thing I said—but it hit the room like thunder.
"I am Naoki von Blackmore, Hero of Blackmore—the one who drove back Nosef, Demon Overlord Rank 3, and Lucius, Demon Overlord Rank 2."
I turned my gaze toward the Mercenary Queen, locking eyes with her.
"I saw it with my own eyes—knights from Braveheart and mages from Solara fought with everything they had. Many died. Some barely survived. If anyone should be blamed for what happened that day... then blame me."
A wave of silence swept across the room. The Mercenary Queen crossed her arms, her tone dripping with arrogance:
"Hmph. At least you know your place."
But I wasn’t done. I stood my ground and continued:
"Even if we had all been there, we wouldn’t have stopped them. Because Lilith, the Demon Overlord Rank 4, was also present."
Murmurs filled the room. I pressed on.
"You all know what she’s capable of—her teleportation magic. She could have easily evacuated her allies. No matter how hard we fought, escape was always an option for them."
The Mercenary Queen clenched her fists, clearly frustrated.
"She broke through the defenses of my kingdom with ease," she muttered.
"Even the Great Barrier of Braveheart, designed to block the highest-level spells, was nothing to her," King Aslan added, his voice heavy.
"The true extent of her teleportation magic is still unknown," said King Salvador, his voice grim. "If its range has no limit, then it defies the fundamental logic of magic itself—cause, effect, and constraint."
"We’ve been studying her magic at Solara," Xerion added with a serious expression, "but we’ve found no solution to counter it... not yet."
I nodded, then stepped forward.
"All of this is true. That’s why the outcome of that battle was inevitable. But there’s something more important I want everyone here to understand."
I looked around the room with determination. Serena’s eyes met mine, filled with worry. Amelia, too, looked deeply concerned.
"The Demon Overlords... they are far stronger than any of us imagined. Their magic shatters reason itself. They slaughtered the Braveheart Heroes, nearly killed Princess Aria—the Divine Valkyrie—and left my father, Tetsu von Blackmore, on the brink of death."
I clenched my fists tightly.
"But the most terrifying part is... they weren’t even fighting at full power."
That revelation hit the room like a hammer.
"Yes, I injured Nosef severely. But Lucius? Lilith? They were barely scratched. Their power was still recovering—they had only just awakened from millennia of imprisonment. And even in that weakened state... I couldn’t kill them."
The Mercenary Queen stood up, furious.
"That’s impossible! How can they be that strong while only using half their power?!"
King Salvador and King Aslan looked equally disturbed.
"They were sealed for thousands of years," I said solemnly. "Their mana is still unstable. But even so, they overwhelmed us. And what frustrates me the most... is that I failed. I couldn’t finish them."
I lowered my head. The weight of that failure pressed heavily on my chest. Serena gently took my right hand, and Amelia took my left. Their warmth grounded me.
"It’s a bitter truth," I continued. "But it is the truth. If we continue like this—divided, distrustful—we’ll stand no chance. We must unite, not turn on each other!"
The entire room fell silent again, but this time, it wasn’t from fear. It was reflection. Shock. A realization shared by all.
Even the three kings—Yunho, Salvador, and Aslan—smiled, moved by the resolve in my voice.
The Mercenary Queen opened her mouth to protest again, but a calm hand rested on her shoulder.
"That’s enough, Mina," said Mercenary King Yunho, his voice steady. He gave her a gentle smile, and slowly, she relented and sat down.
He turned to me.
"Naoki von Blackmore, is it? I agree with your proposal. When the demons stormed our lands, I realized it too—this war cannot be won alone."
"We agree as well," said Magic King Salvador, smiling faintly. "You once saved our kingdom from a Demon Warlord, when none of our magi were present. We owe you. Solara will support this alliance without hesitation."
Xerion nodded beside him, showing his approval.
I bowed deeply to them in gratitude.
Then King Aslan stepped forward.
"Then it is decided. This alliance shall be formed. Today marks the first step of humanity’s united resistance against the Demon Overlords."
The three kings moved forward and, together, signed the Alliance Pact, a binding contract that would stand until the demons were vanquished, or until no hope remained.
The moment their signatures were complete, the room erupted in applause.
Cheers, relief, and hope surged through the chamber. The Alliance of the Three Kingdoms was officially born.
...
After that, we entered the second phase of this critical meeting: a discussion about future strategies in the battle against the demons.
The Magic Kingdom of Solara and the Kingdom of Gildoria both agreed to assist in the recovery of Braveheart Kingdom, which had been left in ruins—nearly half of its territory destroyed during the brutal assault by Xir, the First-Ranked Demon Warlord.
Both kingdoms promised to send their labor forces to aid in the rebuilding efforts. The workers from Gildoria were known for their exceptional physical stamina and endurance, making them perfect for long-term, heavy-duty construction. Meanwhile, Solara offered something equally valuable—their magical technology, which could accelerate the rebuilding process by more than double the normal pace.
This generous support brought a rare smile to King Aslan’s face. It was clear that he was both surprised and deeply grateful. His people had suffered immensely, and this cooperation rekindled a spark of hope for his kingdom’s recovery.
Next, the conversation turned to an equally urgent matter: the deployment of forces to guard the seal at Mount Archanis.
This was absolutely essential. If the demons were to tamper with or shatter the seal again, it could lead to another large-scale invasion of the human continent. Surveillance and immediate response would be the key to preventing another disaster.
To address this, Braveheart pledged to send commanders from its 6th, 7th, and 8th Knight Divisions to guard the mountain. Gildoria, in turn, would dispatch their elite S-Rank mercenaries—some of the most powerful warriors in their realm. And finally, Solara would send in rotations of Magi, along with King Salvador’s personal court mages, to maintain magical surveillance over the seal and report any signs of magical fluctuation or breach.
Everything was proceeding smoothly, and all three kingdoms agreed to cooperate in guarding the location, understanding that Mount Archanis could very well become the first battleground if the demons returned.
Then, the discussion shifted once more—this time, back to the matter of the awakened Overlords.
The leaders were trying to find a way to counter the spatial magic of Lilith, the Fourth-Ranked Demon Overlord, who had proven herself terrifyingly powerful. Her magic could ignore or bypass spatial defense spells entirely, making even the strongest magical barriers virtually useless.
Braveheart had been researching this problem for the past two days.
The Saintess of Braveheart, along with Commander Orion of the 6th Division, had been working around the clock to develop a barrier spell strong enough to resist Lilith’s terrifying spatial manipulation. But so far, their efforts had met with no success. Every prototype barrier they created was either temporary or ineffective against her power.
Solara then offered to collaborate by involving their top magical researchers. They specifically named Magi Char, a mysterious sorcerer rarely seen in public, who was said to specialize in spatial magic.
I was honestly shocked to hear this. That quiet and elusive mage, Char, was actually a specialist in such a rare and complex field? If anyone could contribute something meaningful, it might be him...
Unfortunately, the Kingdom of Gildoria had no mages or magical expertise, and thus could not offer assistance in this particular area.
In the end, the three kingdoms agreed to collaborate on researching a countermeasure to Lilith’s magic. However, as I listened to them discuss theories and magical frameworks, I couldn’t shake a heavy thought: no matter how much research they did, they wouldn’t be able to counter Lilith’s spatial magic—not through normal means.
Because only I knew the true method to do it.
Without hesitation, I gave a subtle signal to King Aslan, requesting a chance to speak.
I noticed Serena, Amelia, Lyra, and Sieg-sama all turning to me, their expressions filled with confusion, as if silently asking, What is he planning to say?
King Aslan saw my signal and gave me a nod, granting me the floor.
I stood up and spoke clearly, my voice cutting through the quiet:
"I know how to counter Lilith’s spatial magic—the magic of the Fourth-Ranked Demon Overlord."
"!!!"
The entire room reacted instantly—gasps of disbelief echoed from every corner.
I didn’t wait for questions or skepticism. I simply reached out with my hand, summoning my most trusted artifact—the Grimoire of Darkness. Its black pages glimmered with arcane energy as it floated above my palm.
From my magical storage, I then slowly drew forth a powerful and legendary item—the Akashic Record.
The moment it appeared, a palpable wave of magical pressure rippled through the room.
"This is the Akashic Record," I announced, "a pseudo-grimoire that contains detailed records of the strengths and weaknesses of every known Demon Overlord. Within these pages lies the precise method for countering Lilith’s spatial magic."
Immediately, everyone in the chamber stood up. Even the three kings were staring at me with wide, disbelieving eyes.
Their expressions made it clear—they thought this kind of knowledge was the stuff of legends.
"This can’t be real..." Magic King Salvador muttered in disbelief.
But it was real. And now, I was going to tell them what I had learned—what this book had shown me. Whether they believed me or not didn’t matter.
They would understand once they heard what I had to say.
Because this information... might be humanity’s only hope.
