Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 310: Spreading Harmony
Sherone walked away from the tall tree, leaving the giraffes stunned and confused with themselves.
In front of him, the semi-transparent glittering screen of the Vassal Record showed multiple identity marks being added under a new tab called the Giraffe Caste.
The giraffes recovered from their state of confusion after the illusion had ended after being replayed for the tenth time. They were now fully convinced, unable to tell what was truly true and what was truly false.
They now believed that a state of harmony could indeed be reached whereby all the creatures of the world would be at peace amongst each other.
They did not question the source of the illusion, they were conditioned not to, if not, the whole point of the illusion would have failed.
Sherone presented them with a vision, a future, one that made their blood boil in excitement.
The illusion reminded them of all the loved ones that had been lost at the claws of the predators.
If there was a way to fight for a future where such a thing would be non-existent, they would. The illusion made them think that fighting for such a cause was indeed worth it.
And not just that, they would be fighting on behalf of the giraffe race, what an honor that would be.
Lastly, Sherone had presented them with benefits, images of the best and most delicious fruits, and the female giraffes with the sexiest of necks.
What was most convincing was that an opportunity to get stronger was still offered to them. Some of those fruits that they had seen had the properties of boosting their potential and helping them evolve again.
Who didn’t want to evolve? Not only would they get the strength to fight for the right to mate with more females, they could bully other creatures.
Yes, they wished to fight for peace but the illusion presented them with prospects of bullying. If they were still thinking normally, they would have recognized all the paradoxes and contrasting concepts that they were being exposed to.
But the illusion was coming from a tier 4 lion. Not just any lion, but a very powerful one at that.
They weren’t being mind-controlled, but they had undergone a soft level of brainwashing and hardcore persuasion.
There were going to be those who didn’t see the vision correctly, Sherone had told them, "...Those who will stand in our way because of their personal beliefs and short-sightedness, they surround us right now.
We must be ready for them. When the time is right, you shall receive the signal, then you shall attack..."
The giraffes didn’t know what the signal was but Sherone told them that they would know once they received it.
As for the confidence to just start attacking, Sherone had charged them with something else.
The giraffes moved away from the tree, taking wide strides and led by the green-patterned giraffe. They walked in another direction until they reached a tree that was also surrounded by other giraffes.
The green-patterned giraffe started conversing with them like an evangelist who desired to spread his religion. He talked and talked, earning frowns and smiles from different members of his race.
This was the way to build the confidence to stay a rebellion within this Super Mega Herd. The members of this monstrous herd had no idea that a storm was quietly brewing beneath the surface of all the calmness.
Eventually, some giraffes agreed to join, mesmerized by the zeal with which their comrades talked about this harmony and peace among all creatures. The way he spoke was magnetic and it was with force, as though he was supremely sure that the world he spoke of could really exist.
However, not all giraffes were on board with the plan and some of them even began to challenge me themselves. The atmosphere quickly got heated as many creatures noticed that some giraffes were arguing with each other and it seemed like they would start throwing heads.
A fight between two giraffes was not pretty at all and was to be avoided if it could.
Thankfully, once the giraffes saw that they could not convince their brethren, they moved on, leaving words of insults behind and promising to deal with them later.
But they didn’t leave without adding the identity marks of those who aligned with their cause to the Vassal Records.
Like this, a sub-faction was being formed within the Super Mega Herd and no one knew about it.
Some predators, meat-eaters as they were called in the discussions of the herbivores, still lingered at the edge of the herd, searching for that one careless creature that would stray too far from the protection of this herbivore coalition.
Some strange birds circled above, looking for something or watching over a particular zebra.
At that moment, Sherone spoke confidently in front of a group of buffalo. The buffaloes had stunned expressions on their faces as they experienced the illusion as though it were the real deal. The illusion was so advanced that their brains failed to identify any flaws and bring them back to clarity.
Sherone was careful of who he showed these illusions to as not all creatures could easily be susceptible to them. He could see the eyelid of one of the buffaloes twitching, but he wasn’t convinced.
Either way, Sherone still walked away in search of another victim. He was like the carrier of an unknown virus. Everywhere he stopped, the creatures there would have dumb looks on their faces as their minds were subjected to brainwashing.
As he went deeper and deeper into the herd, he realized that it would take some time before his ’minions’ could spread far enough for his plan to work. In the meantime, he would work on his own part.
Soon, the main horde would be here, nothing should go wrong. Casualties must be reduced to the bare minimum.
When it was time, the lion would swallow everything up in one gulp before moving on to his next conquest.
Sherone finished showing his illusion to a family unit of zebras and was ready to turn away when his eyes caught something that caused his heart to beat faster than normal.
More than three hundred meters away from him, a tree with long branches, a thick trunk, and green leaves stood there. This tree was thicker than other trees one would usually find in the wild plains and it was currently not surrounded by any giraffes despite the presence of many green and delicious-looking leaves.
At the top of this tree, on one of the highest branches stood a large bird two meters tall. The bird had pitch black long feathers and one could tell that it had a very wide wingspan even though it was folded.
Its talons wrapped firmly around the bark of the branch it was standing on. The head of this bird was also different from other birds.
It was featherless. From the base of the neck to the head, it was nothing but pale grey skin. The neck was then surrounded by a patch of pristine white feathers that could easily be ignored or forgotten.
This strange bird currently had its black eyes locked on Sherone. The bird observed him with such intensity that Sherone was able to notice the gaze.
’Vulture?’ Sherone thought to himself as his legs moved automatically, taking him to the tree.
There was some distance between the two of them and the land was filled with different big and small creatures of the herd.
Sherone walked in a straight line. For some reason, all the creatures subconsciously moved away, not blocking his way. And no one seemed to notice the peculiarity of what was happening.
No one, except the vulture.
The vulture’s pitch black eyes narrowed as Sherone moved closer to it. It seemed curious, on guard, and amused.
Eventually, Sherone arrived in front of the tall tree and stared upward to gaze upon the big bird. The vulture too looked down at Sherone, looking straight into his eyes.
For some seconds, the both of them just kept staring at each other, not saying a word.
"Who are you?" The vulture was the first to break the silence. Asking Sherone a question that had been on his mind for some time.
His telepathic voice was deep and drawn out, reminding Sherone of death and darkness.
"Hmm," Sherone didn’t respond at first, just tilting his head in confusion. He seemed to be thinking of something and was trying to confirm if his guess was correct.
The vulture brought his head lower, "I can tell that the mind that inhabits this zebra is not original. You are not the true owner of this body.
I’ll ask again, who are you?"
The vulture’s words might have seemed threatening but his body language said otherwise. He asked big and all but he didn’t look threatening...for now.
This confused Sherone. How could such a creature make him feel no sense of danger? Unless he was intentionally hiding his dangerous aura.
Finally, Sherone offered a greeting, "Do you know what you are?"
