Reincarnated as the Elder's son: My Infinite Shop Points System-Chapter 14: Magic smartphone.
Chapter 14 - Magic smartphone.
With the crystals infused with Lucy's lightning mana, they began to spark with electricity on the inside.
Jared went ahead and placed the crystal on the mount next to the fences.
This very mount was connected to the fence with a steel wire laid on the ground.
Once Jared placed the crystal on the mount, he saw the spark of electricity run through the wires before it disappeared.
Staring at the fence, Jared thought to himself...
'How am I even sure it worked? Is there a chance magical electricity is somehow different from normal electricity?'
He then looked around and noticed everyone who worked on the project had collapsed to the ground—Lucy and Williams were no exception.
Since they had worked on it for nearly two days with no sleep, it was very much expected.
Still, Jared needed a way to test if the fences truly worked.
That was when he spotted the squirrel just a few meters away from him.
It seemed like it was trying to get over the fence to leave the village and head into the forest.
'Oh?'
A smile appeared on Jared's face, his hand on his jaw as he began to observe the squirrel.
The squirrel walked around the area for a while, almost as if it was contemplating going over it.
It had watched the humans build the strange fence for the past two days.
Looking back, it saw Jared gesturing at it, pushing it to go over the fence.
The squirrel nodded. A human had no reason to hurt it, so it must be safe.
Or so it thought.
The moment its small hands touched the wire, a huge current of electricity passed through its body, sending it flying away with force.
Watching as the squirrel flew past the village, Jared did a salute of respect, his expression very serious.
'Poor thing, you did well.'
For the most part, he was able to determine the fence was working as he wanted.
Since the fence was high enough, most magic beasts would think twice about it.
"Yosh, I thought it would take longer, but we did it. Don't worry, dinner is on me," Jared spoke out loud, though he never once looked back.
Then, the system notification showed up.
[Congratulations, you have successfully built a fence around the village.]
[You have gained 10,000sp.]
Jared stood there, stunned.
[10,000sp.]
He could have sworn it was written in capital letters with an ancient Greek font.
[The system can detect heart rate increasing.]
'You can? Oh... my bad... seeing money just makes me want to fall in love even more. You understand... right?'
[The system isn't money-obsessed.]
'That's too bad. You're lacking a little something in life.' Jared turned around to look at the unconscious workers. 'Hmm, what to do about these ones? We have the fence fixed, and yet...tsk.'
That was one issue down. Not that the men were in any position to celebrate—they were all passed out on the ground.
Luckily for them, most of the women celebrated in their stead after taking the unconscious men to their respective houses.
The next day, Jared was seated in his room, using lanterns as his only source of light despite it being daylight.
Dressed in his usual traditional attire, he sat on the ground, his eyes reading the messages on the template.
[Current: 13000sp.]
For a while now, there had been something he had been trying to get from the system.
But he couldn't get it due to the fact that it was more expensive than what he had.
His reward for building the fence was right on the money, even leaving a little change to get something else.
It was now right in his grasp.
Gulp!
He stared at the screen.
[Magic Smartphone (11,500sp.): This is a remake of the original phone model. It has additional features such as cameras, magic signature reading, magic wavelength calling, magic records, and so on.]
Having such a device would definitely put him at a higher advantage than the other rulers in the northern region.
Though there were more expensive phones, this seemed the most within his budget.
Jared did try to look for a normal phone. Unfortunately, the system didn't have any of that, which was a bit understandable since a normal phone would be useless in a fantasy world.
"Now then, let's get me a smartphone..."
Jared was ready to click on the button when suddenly, someone spoke from outside his door.
"Lord Jared, are you awake? I have come for the report."
That was most definitely Ava.
A frown immediately showed on Jared's face as the system notification cleared from his sight.
"Lord Jared?"
Ava peeped in first before walking in.
She could see Jared giving her the death stare as he sat on the ground.
"Are you alright, Lord Jared? You seem a bit tense." Ava knelt in front of him.
Forcing a smile, Jared replied, "What brings you to my humble abode?"
Ava tilted her head to the side with a bit of confusion.
"You told me to always give you feedback on whatever happens in the village every morning."
Jared felt a stab to his chest. He indeed had told her that. It was the only way he could make sure the village was running smoothly.

"Yeah, yeah, I did. So, what's today's news then?" Jared spoke, now resting his back against the wall with one arm hanging on his knee.
"The villagers do feel safe with the fence that has been placed around the village. As such, they have begun to explore the land a bit. Some have begun to think they could start working on the farmland now, since there's no way for the beasts to destroy it like they normally do."
Jared ate his grapefruit as he listened.
"Still, they are worried about Kiara being in Ragoon Village's custody, and it isn't just that. Lady Ria has already stepped out of her room after hearing about the fence. She has still refused to speak to you."
Jared paused...
"Ria?" he whispered, fully remembering who she was the moment he spoke her name.
