Chapter 22: D-rank

When Darius woke up, he realized that his right hand was on Kaly’s breasts; she was awake and didn’t mind. She got up and Darius, Zenith and she went to the bathroom, then had breakfast, after which they stayed in the garden. Zenith knew how to use magic and was showing Kaly, when she tested the amount of mana she saw the infinity symbol, the mana wasn’t infinite, it just had so much mana that the plate couldn’t measure it. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

After a while Nyme, Ava, Thali and Eryn arrived. But not yet the adventurers. While they were waiting for the adventurers. Kaly asked Darius to grow more sage root plants and they harvested them.

After a while, the adventurers arrived and the three began their training. Nyme cleaned the roots and then cut them. Kaly approached Nyme and sent her information on how to prepare the potions.

"One day you’ll be in charge of the potions, but your mana is very small, so you’ll have different training. I want you to use the magic you learned yesterday until you get tired. When you do, stop and wait a while, sit or lie down. Your body will soon recover."

While Nyme was lying down, he watered the plowed soil and made more plants grow. The adventurers couldn’t see what he was doing, as they were further away.

First, they wanted to gauge each other’s skills, they were terrible at swords, bad at magic, and even worse at archery. But it was obvious that it would take time for them to learn, no one is born being good in these areas.

As the agreement was to learn everything, they didn’t care about the classes and each adventurer took one of the three, so that training would be easier. At least that’s what they thought.

Darius was running low on mana and began to rest.

"No, I want you to come with me. You too, Nyme."

They went to the Guild, but Darius never returned for the test to become D-rank.

At the Guild, Kaly went up to the receptionist and asked about the exam; it was supposed to have been taken the day before, but Kaly had forgotten. As the head of the Guild was there, Clara went into the room and called her, and she agreed to take the test. The fee was paid and they went to an arena at the back of the Guild.

The test consisted of analyzing their combat skills; in the D-rank, the adventurer was expected to be able to fight some monsters and defend themselves against their attacks.

Elara used magic, she controlled her power and made a few attacks, Darius managed to dodge each one, then she used more magic and the attacks became faster. Then she drew her sword and went for him, he just defended himself, after another quick attack he used water magic and hit her. The attack left a red mark on her buttocks, but didn’t hurt.

"You’re quick, some would have given up by now or would have at least a scratch or two. I’ll stop here."

"Did I pass?"

"Yes, you’re officially a D-rank and when you reach 20 missions of that level I’ll automatically promote you to C-rank. You’re fast and seem to know how to defend yourself and fight. After another 30 missions, I want another test, and from that, we’ll see that you move up to B-rank. Deal?"

"Thank you very much," he said as he bowed slightly.

"You’re so cute," she hugged him and her breasts almost smothered him.

At the reception Darius handed over his card and it was updated, its color changed, before it was copper colored, now it has a silver card.

Kaly also carried out Nyme’s registration, she filled in the details with the mage class, she wasn’t, her class was archer. But she didn’t speak at any point and just accepted Kaly’s recommendation. Then they went to the mural and picked up collection missions and two orc slaughter missions, the mission asked for the monsters’ meat. Kaly had plenty of meat and planned to deliver it later.

"I want you in my office," the boss said when she saw that they were leaving the Guild.

She sat down on the sofa, then crossed her legs and Darius watched. The clothes she was wearing were short and Darius couldn’t take his eyes off her breasts, which seemed to be crushed by the bra, which was one size smaller than it should have been. This made her breasts almost pop out of her short, tight shirt.

"I sold a lot of potions yesterday, more than I thought I could. Some adventurers went around talking about the potions and some people came here and compared them. Many had sick relatives, others just wanted to sell more to some nobleman. I don’t really care why they bought it, what matters is that I sold it and got some money. But I think this will attract the attention of the merchants’ guild, but it doesn’t matter. You’re protected as long as you only sell to me."

"I’m happy about that, but I don’t think you called us here just to say that, am I right?"

"Yes, I want more potions, as many as you can deliver."

"I can only produce 20,000 a day, that’s our current limit."

"Quite a big limit."

"A little, I’ll deliver tomorrow. But I also want to tell you something, we’re doing some tests, we have some new potions, I didn’t bring any. But I’ll deliver some samples tomorrow."

"What would those potions be?" She asked as she got up and went to the safe.

"The first is an energy potion, it prevents fatigue and allows you to fight or go longer without sleeping, it’s great for when you need to stay up all night or get tired while walking. The second is a mana recovery potion, which is very rare. The third is an aphrodisiac potion, it lifts everything," Kaly said laughing.

"Mana recovery?"

"Yes, I know the recipe, it’s very rare and I don’t think everyone knows it."

"I’ve never heard of it, but I’ll test it with the mages. If you allow me."

"Yes, I’ll allow it and I don’t see any problem, I’d even ask for it, since they might doubt the effect."

"What are the amounts?"

"I’m thinking a maximum of 5 copper coins for the sale of the energizer, that would be 2 copper coins each, they’re so easy to make and it’s easy to get the ingredient."

"Easy?"

"Do you know the moon whisper plant?"

"Yes, these plants are quite common."

"It’s the only ingredient, some alchemists sell it for more than 2 silver coins, but it doesn’t cost even 1 copper coin to make a few. The mana potion, because it’s rarer, would sell for 15 copper coins maximum. The aphrodisiac potion is more expensive, so I sell it for 15 copper coins. I’ll leave the price up to you, but the alchemists sell them for a very high price."

"To keep the potions cheaper, I’ll charge 20 copper coins for it."

"I didn’t expect that."

"I just want the competition to profit less and us to keep all the profit, it doesn’t matter if the unit sales are low, in quantity we can get around it."

"That makes sense, but there still seems to be something to it. But that’s none of my business, I just want to maintain a harmonious relationship, so I apologize for that."

Elara laughed.

"All right, don’t worry about it, we’re adventurers, too much formality isn’t really our style. At least not most of us."

Kaly said goodbye and was about to leave. Elara told her not to leave yet.

"Here are 1,200 gold coins, I want the potions for tomorrow and for the next 13 days, I want everything you produce, if you get more potions, I want them."

"All right, I’ll try to increase production, but I can’t promise anything," she said as she took the money.

On the way back to the mansion, Kaly stopped by to ask Shiva about the swords.

He wasn’t there, but Kaly called him and he came out of a room, he was sweaty and his clothes were dirty, as expected of a blacksmith.

"I haven’t managed to finish them yet, but some are ready. Would you like to see it?"

Kaly nodded yes, he went back into the room and returned with some swords in their sheaths. They were a little thinner than she had expected.

"They’re light," she said, holding up a sword.

"I wanted to test this model, it worked, as thin as they are, they manage to be more resistant than thicker swords, all thanks to the strengthening crystals."

"That looks pretty sharp, I like your work."

"I was about to forget. There’s more mythril left than I thought, do you want it back?"

"No, you can keep it."

"Perfect. I managed to finish off 25 swords and the staff with the wand. Wait a moment." He went back into the room and then returned with the staff, it was thin and the metal looked braided, it had a blue stone that floated on it, it was in a dome that looked like a small thin cage. The wand was small and had the same style as the staff. Kaly liked it.

"It looks perfect," she said as she looked at the wand and staff. "I have one more request, with the metal that’s left over, make four more wands, I want a different model to this one in these four, but I want them to be just as beautiful. Here are 12 gold coins for that, I think it pays for your work. Am I right?"

"Yes, you’re right, and there’ll still be plenty of mythril left over. So I think that’s even more than enough," he said with a big smile on his face.

Then Kaly left and took the finished swords with him.
