Reincarnated as the Vampire Princess' Familiar-Chapter 11 - 10 - The true potential of Vis energy
Chapter 11: 10 - The true potential of Vis energy
Clotilde Valakys, thirty-one years old, second daughter of Drakhul Valakys. Unlike her two younger sisters—or at least the ones I've met so far—she looks far less feminine. Towering close to two meters, her broad shoulders rival those of a wrestling champion.
Only now do I notice a rather short, petite girl hidden behind Clotilde's towering figure. She has short blonde hair, styled exactly like Clotilde's. Judging by her outfit and haircut, she must be her familiar. Yet, they're complete opposites—like Levreshka and Gerard, but reversed.
«I've told you a thousand times—I won't tolerate your childish behavior! If you insist on settling your disputes with force, do it in a Judicium Sanguinis!» Clotilde roars, slamming her massive fists together—knuckle against knuckle—unleashing a tremendous shockwave. «Or, if you're in such a hurry to fight, take me on instead!»
Judicium Sanguinis? Never heard of it. But Ayra explicitly told me not to meddle in vampire affairs, so I'll just follow her advice.
The two Valakys sisters step back again, visibly intimidated by Clotilde's presence and tone. Sasha's scythe disintegrates into a swarm of red particles that vanish into the ether, and Ayra's sword follows suit.
Clotilde halts the battle before it even begins, proving far more responsible and mature than her younger sisters. Yet, my body is gripped by an almost unhealthy excitement—not because of their nudity, but their raw display of power. The thought that one day—even I—could wield such strength... drives me wild! I may never match a vampire, but I'll definitely surpass every other human familiar. It's only a matter of time before I escape that rat hole of Lunae Novae dormitory and claim the luxury of Lunae Plenae.
«So, you're the so-called predestined familiar...» Clotilde says in a calm tone. «Tomorrow, you'll fight again. Are you ready?»
«Well, um...» I hesitate, intimidated by this towering woman. «I haven't had much time to train, but I've already learned two Blood Words Lv.1, so I'm fairly confident...»
«You've mastered two Blood Words Lv.1 in just a day and a half? Impressive—but I expected nothing less from a predestined familiar... Tell me, though, you've been developing your Vis energy as well, not just Sanguis, right?»
«Actually... no,» I reply, slightly puzzled. «Since I can use Blood Words, I don't see the point in training Vis energy. It seems much weaker...»
«Did these two fill your head with that nonsense?!» Clotilde's voice booms like thunder as she shoots a menacing glare at her sisters. «Sanguis energy grants access to immensely powerful spells, true—but it does nothing to enhance your body. Vis energy, on the other hand, makes you tougher and physically stronger. What's the point of launching devastating attacks if you collapse from a single punch?! Vis and Sanguis are opposites, yet they complement each other. Only by mastering both will you become the strongest familiar of this era!»
My skeptical look clearly infuriates Clotilde. With a heavy slap on the back, she shoves her familiar forward—the petite blonde girl who had timidly stayed behind her. Honestly, I have no idea how she didn't break into pieces after that thunderous hit.
«Go on, Angelica. Show Lyon the true essence of Vis magic!» Clotilde's tone is more of a command than encouragement.
«Y-Yes, Mistress...» the girl murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper as she hesitantly steps toward me.
«Clotilde, that's unnecessary!» Ayra interjects, her voice sounding more reverent than annoyed. «Lyon has only been here for a couple of days. He'll figure it out on his own over time!»
Clotilde shakes her head in disapproval. «That boy progressed so quickly with Sanguis because he believes in its power. As long as he sees Vis as inferior, he'll never master it. Now shut your mouth!»
Ayra, intimidated, doesn't need to be told twice. Keeping both her and Sasha—those two hotheads—in check is one thing, but making them obey like trained puppies... Clotilde must be on a whole different level!
Angelica and I now stand face to face at the center of this small arena, about ten meters apart.
Am I really supposed to fight this girl? She looks as fragile as a twig—I might break her just by touching her. Yet, Ayra seemed strongly against this fight. Maybe she's just worried that if I hurt Angelica, Clotilde will take it out on me. Or maybe, behind that innocent look, this girl hides incredible power?
Only one way to find out!
«Begin!» With a swift motion, Clotilde signals the start of the battle.
«Blood Word: Telum!» I summon the blood-colored sword with disarming ease—even Ayra and Sasha seem surprised. Using a Blood Word in training is one thing—no pressure—but pulling it off flawlessly in battle? I'm seriously amazing! Meanwhile, my body, fully enveloped in Visanguis energy, erupts without restraint, manifesting as a violet blaze spreading across me.
I charge at Angelica with reckless speed, yet she doesn't move an inch, standing exactly where she was when the fight began. I raise my sword, aiming for her arm.
Why isn't she reacting? Could she really be that weak? Ayra must have opposed this fight because she feared I'd hurt her too badly. Well, not my problem!
My blade is just a palm away from her arm when—CLANG! What the...?
The strike lands—my sword makes direct contact—but... not even a scratch! It's like her skin is made of some indestructible material! How is that possible...? She's human!
Only now do I notice the thin veil of blue energy coating her body—Vis energy. Unlike Gerard's, which dispersed after I defeated him, hers is being reabsorbed.
The instant my blade clashes against her toughened skin, she surges forward in a blur. Before I can even react, her elbow slams into my stomach—SBOOM! A delayed shockwave erupts, a massive force slamming into me like a truck, hurling me to the opposite side of the arena.
I spring back to my feet—but Angelica is already in front of me. Her torso slightly turned—she's about to kick. I barely manage to raise my sword, positioning it between us in a desperate attempt to block or make her hesitate—but she doesn't even flinch.
With power and speed far beyond mine, her foot shatters my blade like fragile glass, crashing into my forearm and sending me flying once again.
Shit...! A searing pain tears through my right arm, my nerves so strained I can't even grip my sword anymore.

«I believe you've played enough, Angelica,» Clotilde's voice rumbles like an echo from the depths of a cave. «Finish him with your next attack!»
«As you command, Mistress!» The familiar's face, once timid and hesitant, ignites with sudden determination.
I attempt a defensive stance—my left arm stretched forward, while my right hangs limp at my side. If everything she's done so far was just playing around... I don't even want to imagine what comes next! No, I can't lose my nerve! This is the perfect time to use the second Blood Word Lv.1 I've learned—Obice! This spell can absorb and reflect physical attacks back at the attacker—exactly what I need to turn the tables! Ayra will be proud of me!
Angelica lowers her stance, fists clenched—she's about to strike! I just need to time the spell perfectly, and victory is mine!
«Blood Word: Ob—» S-Shit... how did she move so fast...? I didn't even get the chance to cast it...
Blood gushes from my mouth, Angelica's fist still buried in my stomach. The dense red aura I barely managed to gather around my left hand vanishes into nothing. My knees give out instantly, and my body—crippled by pain—collapses forward, my face slamming into the dirt as blood soaks the ground beneath me.
Through my blurred vision, I can still make out the faint blue glow around Angelica's body—Vis energy. Unlike Gerard's, which dispersed after I defeated him, hers is being reabsorbed.
She took me down in just three hits—and she probably wasn't even trying.
This girl is on a whole different level... yet, she can't be older than twelve or thirteen. How the hell is she this strong?!
«Come, Angelica. Let's return to my quarters! Watching a fight always makes me hungry,» Clotilde commands, summoning her familiar back.
Thinking about how Ayra fed on my blood... Brrr. Just imagining that frail, tiny girl in the clutches of that gorilla in a woman's body makes me shudder.
«This is the power of a familiar who can use Vis energy properly. I hope you've learned your lesson!» Clotilde scolds before vanishing in a flash of red.
D-Decently...? Did she really say that? That was just a decent use of Vis energy?! I don't even want to imagine what a human who's mastered it completely could do... They could probably demolish a mountain with a single punch!
«It would be pretty cruel for Ayra to punish you after losing to Angelica Valakys...» Sasha mutters with a mocking smirk.
«Normally, a familiar should be punished after a loss... but for once, I think that flirtatious girl has a point,» Ayra admits, stepping closer and offering me her hand. «After all, you lost to the 48th-ranked fighter. You never had a chance to win from the start.»
W-What...? That little brat... is ranked 48th?! She's got to be kidding me! That means she stays in the ultra-luxurious Lunae Plenae dorm, getting pampered like she's in a five-star resort?!
I refuse to accept this! If that scrawny girl could get this strong, then I—who was a semi-professional athlete in my past life—will catch up to her and surpass her in no time! But for now... I need to focus on tomorrow's match. I can't afford to lose!
