Reincarnated in the game world ~ A gamer's beginning to [Dungeon job hunting recommendation]-Chapter 592Vol. 11 - - Rina’s Trump Card
—Class 51's base.
The situation around the base was watched by three students of Class-51.
A red haired girl, wearing white theme knight armor—Rosetta took her eyes off from the binoculars and massaged the inner corner of her eyes. She was atop the base, tasked with the duty to keep an eye on any enemy.
"What's the matter, Rose?"
Taking notice of her action, Flamina asked, cocking her head in confusion. Flamina was a dogkin category girl, sporting shoulder length azure hair tied behind her back, and slightly drooping dog ears on top of her head.
Rose, the recipient of the question, similarly cocked her head in confusion.
"...Hmm, no. I must have misunderstood. I guess, I was thinking too hard about Brave's team's that I have started to hallucinate their illusion here... My eyes probably need a rest."
"The what??"
Flamina, failing in understanding Rosetta's mumbling, asked again. Suddenly, another girl appeared from behind her.
"I think I heard someone saying the name of Brave?"
"Eeeek—ahh! You startled me, Katalina! How the hell did you appear without any sign?! Shouldn't you be taking a rest now?!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
The last person was a young girl sporting beautiful, waist length black hair, with a white-theme dress draped over her.
The three were keeping an eye on the situation in rotation, and right now, Katalina was supposed to be on her break. Her sudden appearance startled Flamina.
"Do not mind the small matter. Anyway, what about Brave-kun?"
"You really can't control yourself whenever it's about some handsome person, huh. Well, Rose said she may have saw Brave-kun ju—"
"Lend me the binoculars for a moment."
"Wai—"
Katalina didn't wait for Flamina to end her speech, and snatched away the binoculars at a blinding speed.
"—!! I can see him! I see him! It's Brave-kun, and he's racing in our direction!!"
"Wait, what?! Brave-kun is actually here!!? Wait, he's literally visible without the binoculars, dammit! W-what're you all doing, h-hurry up and do something!"
A shriek escaped from Flamina. For her, it was truly unexpected. She had thought Brave would have no chance making their way to them when the fortress and alliance are on their chase, and ultimately loses her vigilance.
Of course, Rina was also issuing out warnings via «Guild Connect» but there had been too many places to contact in a short time. As a result, she had yet to contact Class-51 as said skill is in cooldown.
To speak of it, Rina knew the importance of her class base. In lieu of any adverse situation, she had made sure to leave a few members simply for look out, and this should keep their base immediately prepared for any raid. This was why she'd kept notification to Class-51 about the current situation last among other bases.
Albeit, among their fanaticism for Brave, and the reality, the situation took an ambiguous turn. Nothing surprising. It was a commonplace mistake.
Flamina was flustered as she affirmed the situation. She could see three shadows running in their direction even without the help of binoculars. And at the centre was—Brave. She had happened to meet him at a festival at the end of summer vacation, so she wouldn't mix him for anyone else!
"Hey, down to earth, girls! I am begging you, just look at the situation! Prepare to intercept!"
"W-wait a m-min, are you saying he's for real?! The Brave in the flesh?!"
"Oh crap! We need to intercept them quick!"
"And that's what I am saying, but hang on. No, seriously, Katalina. Listen to me! You're the rearguard for goodness! Earn us some time! I will take command of guardian monsters!"
And thus, like a hornet nest receiving a poke, a turmoil engulfed Class-51's base.
Meanwhile—after evading the alliance and having rushed to their opponent's base, Zephyr finally made it to his target, but.
"Huh, something doesn't add up. Why have we not received any resistance yet?"
He was perplexed by the situation.
There was just one last square left behind before they jumped at Class-51's base, but astonishingly, no one, not even guardian monsters, appeared and attempted to block them.
He heard some kind of ruckus from the opponent's base, which implied the base wasn't without any defense, and yet... After all, they'd charged upfront, without hiding their traces, so it just add a mystery to him.
Rika shared the same sentiment as Zephyr that she showed with a nod.
"Maybe, they didn't notice us until now? So they're unable to immediately make a counter-force."
"I mean, this is Rina's class we're talking about. It can be their trap to have us lower our vigilance-desu. Ah, I found a trap-desu."
"Whoops. «Shine Lightning»! —I see. What a clever plan to catch us from our blind spot, luring us into a trap."
Pamela was surveying the surrounding for any target and immediately found a strong trap. Zephyr unleashed his skill and swept it up, causing a huge explosion that pushed him to halt on his steps.
It seems the opponent had put on the guise of a rabbit's burrow to hide the crafty snakes behind. Affirming the strength of their opponent, Zephyr changed his outlook.
"Rina... she really can't be underestimated. You would've expected traps to appear more earlier, instead she lured us in like they're incompetent in their work, giving us the sweet sense of upper hand like 'No traps? then we just need to watch out for the opponent's defense force.' Then, we would be too focused on the opponent that the traps wouldn't be even in our mind, and once it happens, we would be greeted with a blast. Good job in spotting the trap, Pamela."
This was the verdict Zephyr reached after initial surprise. Maybe, he read too much in this situation.
In the end, the situation was simple. Their opponent had failed to pick themselves for interception, having been too much confused about Brave. Then again, the circumstantial evidence, like the scarce number of traps, only alluded to his reasoning, so it might not be impossible to reach this conclusion. To him, Rina was just that kind of opponent.
"That's indeed clever-desu!"
"If we follow that reasoning then, then the next trap is..."
"Ohh, here they come. The guardian monsters have appeared."
In the meantime Zephyr's team had halted due to the explosion, Class-51 barely managed to pick their mess at nick of time, and went through their preparation. Immediately, amidst the fumes of explosion, guardian monsters began to show their appearance.
"Oh good, we somehow managed it. We really would have been kicking ourselves if Rina-san hadn't set up traps just in case scenarios."
"Frau, all that matters is we've still on track! We need to do our best here! Alright, time to show you something good!"
"Hey, you should be reflecting on your mistakes more, Rose! And what about Katalina?"
"She's A-ok. Just as Rina had taught, she is summoning guardian monsters. But I have to say, it scared me out."
The three defenders let out a sigh as they saw they managed to stop the situation from breaking down. Knight Rose and dog-kin Flau arrived at the entrance of base, affirming guardian monsters.
Katalina handled the summon disk and as Rina had explained, she summoned the monsters and guided them to target enemies.
*Thump-Thump*
Each time the summoned monster took a step, the ground as if it was hit by an intense tremor.
"Eeek."
Flamina was so scared at the sight of the manifesting monster that her tail unwittingly drooped down to between her legs.
As the monster stepped out, it raised a howl, as if to inspire itself.
"Grrrraaaaaaa!!"
Hailing from one of the most difficult dungeons at intermediate-low level, even rivaling intermediate-mid level, it was—«King Dinosaur»! The final boss of «Dinosaur Hill Dungeon», requiring 40 summon cost.
However it wasn't alone, and soon, another giant silhouette manifested behind it.
This one sported menacingly eerie red eyes as they checked the surroundings before locking in Zephyr's team direction.
"*Hoooowll!!*"
Another roar traversed through the area, this time a howl. It was so loud as if the ownerl was trying to rival «King Dinosaur».
This monster was yet another last boss, but from an intermediate-mid dungeon—«Battle Wolf (3rd Form)».
Both were a drop from «Gold Chest».
At the noble sacrifice of Nico, Rina had coincidentally acquired the two bosses' summon disk during the mad gold chest hunt.
This was their—Rina's trump card. A guardian monster that would require the bulk of the opponent party to take them down.
And for a party of three, it sure should be a challenge for Zephyr. Rina had interpreted one such scenario, and had been prepared for this.
