Reincarnated in the game world ~ A gamer's beginning to [Dungeon job hunting recommendation]-Chapter 630Vol. 11 - - The working of Tabase-senpai’s Job!
"Gryaahhh!!"
"There's one, the «Wicked Flower of Madness»! Engage in battle!"
"«Aura Point»!"
Within a few minutes of walking, we encountered a group of monsters, among which were our target—Instant Death debuff caster monsters, with two of them entwined as one. The rest were «Withering Woods», a tree category monster that primarily uses magic, and two of «Thorny Chestnut», a defensive type monster covered in hedgehog like sharp bristles all over.
Two support, an attacker, and two defences. I must say that was quite a fine balanced team.
"Make sure to use weapons against Thorny Chestnut. Jumping bare-handed self-inflict damage~"
"And who would be insane enough to fight bare-handed?"
Ooh, here comes the jab. I had warned the party in a slightly teasing manner when Sierra immediately retorted back. Mhm, I liked that.
"«Withering Wood» is an immovable mage category monster. So melee wouldn't be a problem, Reglam."
"Leave it to me. So, the focus should be on ranged mage-type monsters huh."
Sure enough, Reglam knew his assignment. «Withering Wood» wasn't the target if his words were to be taken, but «Wicked Flower of Madness» who had the most troublesome ability of all. However, the spear of Reglam's offence headed for «Withering Wood».
"Jaaayyayaa!!"
And just expected, «Wicked Flower of Madness» sprang on for action regardless if the target was on them or not. They flailed their vines, and sprinkled «Malicious Pollen». This was the «Instant Death» skill. The pollen would drift to where vanguard was, sticking to them.
Neither Aegis nor Reglam had «Instant Death Resistance» or «Abnormal Status Resistance», so it was immediately effective, and a skull icon with countdown of "30 second" blinked in existence above their HP bar.
"I guess, it's my turn."
With that preface, Tabase-senpai took a step forward from my end. She held a blue theme wand, just a bit shy from one meter. It had an orb at the top, almost as if floating at the wand's tip, and tiny wings attacked to either side.
This was... «Heaven's Shine» I believe. It was another piece of top-class equipment. Seriously, just how loaded she was? The same was with her sister's garb. Though I was a bit surprised by the wand. Lana used a talisman, so I expected something along the line, but this wasn't bad either.
If anything, she looked like a graceful angel unfurling her true visage to devotees. With a gentle swing of her wand, she invoked a spell.
"—«Holy Water Rite»!"
"Ooh! So, this is how Ritess look!"
With a slight gesture, particles of light dispersed from the wand, and a magic circle appeared beneath her feet. A glow engulfed Reglam and Aegis, and dispelled the Skull Icon from their HP bar. It was a spell called Abnormal Status Remover.
—Rite category.
While jobs like «Saintess», «Sage» or «Messiah» fall under recovery category jobs, they share no similar attribute or type. For instance, Lana's skill or spell counted as "Prayer," and Misato's "Spell".
«Messiah» was an upgrade from «Priestess» category jobs, and their abilities counted as "Ceremony."
"And a recovery to Sierra-san. —«Healing Rite»!"
Senpai gave the wand another couple swings as she invoked her next spell, and a golden glow engulfed Sierra, recovering her missing HP. Much like Lana's prayer, there was no fear of enemy healing. This made her even stronger.
"Alright, now turn for support. —«Shikigami the 3rd»!"
After providing support to Sierra, Senpai suddenly took out what seemed to be paper cut in human silhouette, and then tossed them, activating her skill. Promptly, the paper expanded in dimension and transformed into a summoned beast. The summon was just a four headed tall small Oni, a metal rode on her hand.
Honestly, that female Oni appeared more adorable than fierce, much like a stuffer toy. It was really hard to associate her with something unsettling.
This was one of the «Priestess» summoning abilities. The '3rd' part referred to hierarchy in the skill tree, so that made it a spell from 3rd order skill tree.
"Please."
"————!"
Obeying Tabase-senpai's request, the pipesqueak demon broke into a dash, and attacked «Wicked Flower of Madness». The bigger-than-itself metal rod cut through the air, and delivered certain damage to «Wicked Flower of Madness».
"Huh, what's it?"
"She's there to support. She can assist in both offense and defense."
"Heh, now it's my first time hearing of such magic."
Reglam murmured his amazement, and stared at the pipesqueal demon's way of fighting.
Shikigamis were combat oriented summoned beasts, fashioned after human shilhoute. They could be substituted to take damage from damage, or inflict damage. Albeit, tradeback was they fought at their own pace, like auto mode, so it was a bit hard to control their action,
"Haaa—«Prescious Thrust»!"
"Grrraaa~"
Whoops, while my gaze had been drawn up by shikigami, Aegis delivered a sharp stab at «Thorny Chestnut».
«Thorny Chestnut» were tanky opponents, barely possessing any offensive strength. But the tradeback was backed up by their tankiness, so that was one of the opponents you wouldn't want to stumble on much if the goal is to economise MP wisely. It wouldn't serve any purpose if party members ended up emptying their MP after all.
"Aegist, support is on the way. ——«2nd Spirit Arte»!"
Impressive. She was living up to the title of «Priestess» category with her spells.
The Spirit Arte's ability was to breathe a life in an inorganic object—or, like in the various media portrayed, a case of 'possession' for a certain duration. The strength of the spell was directly proportional to the quality of the item.
Tabase-senpai gently held a paper crane on her palm, and flicked the wand on others. Soon, a beam shone on the paper crane, and transformed it into a small bird. It was impressive! Incidentally, no, the small bird wasn't exactly a crane.
This was a 2nd order skill, and offered only support summons.
"Kyuu—Twirl-Twirl—"
The bird flapped its wing and jumped into the sky, letting out its peculiar chirp, and soon, the icons of offense and defense flashed above Aegis's status bar. Then it flew above Sierra, then above Reglam, granting them a buff similarly.
This support skill was simple to use, had a short manifestation duration, however it also buffed allies, and provided cover from the air.
This was the whole shtick of the «Priestess» category job, providing assistance via their battle arts, and Rites for offense, defense, or support.
They were the Healer Summon of the party, and also a respectable job among other «Noble» category jobs.
Though, in terms of Tabase-senpai, it was merely scratching the surface. She had yet to resort to anything but basic spells from the «Priestess» category.
