At long last, the day of the guild battle had arrived.

It was another bright, refreshing morning. Our match was scheduled first thing at 10 AM. The audience had already begun to make their way to the arena. No, seriously, how were we having this much crowd? Oh well, if they learned from the guild battle, it would only spice things in the future. The guild battle was the perfect place to learn the 'do' and 'do not.'

Today’s event was taking place in the Fourth Arena.

It was a venue often used for C-rank guild matches. Of course, it was our first time fighting here. Befitting of its matches it boasted, the arena was far larger than any field we had used before, with wide squares and sprawling space.

The rules were *Castle Capture*, *15-person battle*, and a *12-star field.*

You might be wondering what “12 stars” meant—it was essentially an expanded version of the “5-star” setup, with additional complexity and obstacles.

The 4th arena also had a small field within itself, perhaps usable only during these moments. It was «Eden»'s first match in this arena, and even for our opponent, this arena must have been a distant memory after lounging in the A-rank for so long.

I presume academy staff had deliberately chosen this stage, to make sure the advantage lies in no one side. Though, with how vast field was, and obstacles far and few between, it was a perfect playground for anyone even seemingly confident in their agility. In other words, it was an idle field for the Knights with «Beast Riding», or «Vehicles».

My arms were already itching to fight.

Just before 10 AM, we finally met «Temple Saber». I turned to my team gathered in the waiting room and raised my fist.

“All right, it’s finally time for the guild battle! Is everyone fired up!?”

"It shouldn't even be a question! I’m not handing over my «White Throne»! I’m going to blast them into pieces!”

“You’re awfully fired up.”

“You look so galant, Lana-sama.”

The excitement meter varied between the guild members. Lana was brimming with motivation, as if she couldn't wait for the guild battle to start immediately, while Sierra remained serene as still water. Ester gently praised Lana, adoring her reaction, her chin rested in her hand.

“Hehe, this guild truly never changes.”

“Bingo. I think Eden’s atmosphere is one of its biggest strengths.”

“I concur. This energy is what makes us who we are.”

“I’m a little sad I can’t participate, though.”

Hannah, Nico, Kairi, and Aruru—the production support team—watched us participants with warm smiles. It's fine and all, but... weren't they quite too 'relaxed' given that we're against the former A-rank guild?

“Good luck, everyone!”

“We’re cheering for you!”

“Go win it for us!”

Hey, look. This is what I call the true cheering group! Ah, the Harmonic Trio were truly in tune with the situation. That was the kind of support we needed.

“Thanks for the encouragement! Leave it to us—we’ll definitely win!”

“Kyaaa——!”

They squealed back, cheering louder, as I waved them for their cheers. The sound filled me with a compelling motivation.

“I-I’ll be in charge, so don’t worry!”

“Likewise, I shall make sure no cavalry breach through our defense."

Rina and Sierra remarked confidently, showcasing their spirit. See, this was the kind of magic a cheer can do! Keep up with the cheers, girls!

While we were laughing and chatting, the megaphone crackled to life.

“Guild Eden, please come to the field.”

“Oh, that’s our cue. Let’s go, everyone!”

" " "Let's go!!" " "

When the time came, all fifteen of us left the waiting room and marched onto the field. Hannah and the others moved to the stands near our base to watch the match unfold.

As we stepped onto the field, waves of cheers erupted from the stands.

“Kyaaa! Kyaaa! There he appears!”

“It's Guild Eden! Leading the charge is Guildmaster Zephyr!”

“The promising rookie guild of the first years!”

“They’re not rookies anymore—they’re the strongest first-year guild!”

“Go-go! Bag that victory, Eden! It's time to show them the power of freshmen. Take down «Temple Saber»!”

“Ah, Zephyr-san looks so composed and cool!”

“He’s about to face a former A-rank guild and doesn’t even flinch!? Is he really a first-year!?”

“The entire team is carrying themselves with such grace! It could be Brave-kun's charisma, but even, neither of them perturbed one single bit. It's no wonder they're the freshmen's strongest guild!"

“Challenging a C-rank guild in less than a year is insane! I can't even begin to imagine Eden's future!”

“We’ll be watching all the way!”

“Yeeeeah!!”

The cheers were deafening.

Well, it made sense. With catchy phrases like "duel between the strongest first-year guild and a former A-rank guild" was bound to draw attention.

But, it sure felt kind of nice being in the spotlight. Hahaha!

I straightened my back and led the others across the field, walking with confidence toward our assigned position. Just standing at the front like that made it feel like our reputation was rising by the second, adding more to our spirit.

The central arena was filled with obsacles—aka the audience stand. Thus, the pre-match meeting point with the opposing team was on the northern side of the map.

As usual, Eden had the white team’s base on the north side, while Temple Saber had the red team’s base on the south.

Once the referee had guided everyone to their designated starting positions, Temple Saber made their appearance.

The lineup of 15 members. At a glance, the gaze would inevitably be drawn to their resplendent equipment. From what it appeared, everyone had been equipped with intermediate equipment at the least, while some even had advanced grade equipment.

This world had yet to discover the boss farming method. With that in account, it's quite impressive how they had managed to gather that line-up of equipment.

The lead was taken by their guildmaster, Renandol-senpai. Kassanda-senpai were just behind him. Tabase-senpai... weren't there. Needless to say. Instead, I could spot three individuals in healer's equipment.

Hmm, I did hear rumours at how Temple Saber had been failing due to insufficient healer after the lose of «White Throne». They should've decided to bridge the gap with more healers. The intel from Yumiki-senpai divulged that they'd promoted three healers from «White Saber» to «Temple Saber», and she was indeed correct.

At least, they had the farsight to know their weakness. Then again, after such a big fumble, and not once but repeatedly, I would've doubted if they hadn't yet realised it. After all, they're now stuck at the edge of the cliff. A last step.

This guild battle had been facilitated by Dean and Yuri-senpai himself. If they lose, they might be in big trouble. However, if they'd lose by their own negatives, this would be much more disgraceful to their reputation. By then, the guild might be well done and dusted for good.

The pressure must have been suffocating. The higher you are, the harder the fall hits, isn't it?

As my mind wandered to the realm of its own thought, Temple Saber had already taken their place.

The two challengers stood side by side, facing each other. The referee raised his hand, and the arena fell silent.

“Now, the Duel between Guild «Eden» and Guild «Temple Saber» will begin. Fight well—and bow!”

Both sides bowed, and the crowd exploded in cheers once again.

I caught a hint of Renandol-senpai and Kassanda-senpai's expressions, as if they'd something to say after a look at us, but ultimately they kept their silence, and left in the direction of their base—Red Castle in the south.

We followed the pace, and headed for our White Castle. Once both teams were inside their bases, we planted our guild flags.

And then—the countdown began.
