Reincarnated Into a Shounen Anime-Chapter 52: Testing Causality
Alex stayed still for few more moments. Not moving not moving and catching his breath.
After a while he calmed down and a bitter smile appeared on his face.
"Haa~~.Why are you so salty? That was on purpose purpose wasn’t it?"
[I have every right to be bitter.]
The World Spirit said firmly, making Alex sigh.
"You’re right. You do."
Alex realised with the power the universe had to hand him over, a little bit of saltiness wasn’t out of question.
He took a deep breath. Clearing his mind. He closed his eyes and recalled the things he had previously forgotten. Recalled who he was at the end of the day.
"Thank you... I needed that..."
He said quietly. The moment with his father was essence of his psychological foundation. That’s what Alexander Pluto was based on. But when he joined the Rebels, the Behavioural Modification Chip’s constant distortion and pressure from surveillance made him forget who he was.
And with the World Spirit nudging that memory again, his memories before he became a mascot were rejuvenated. He felt whole again.
"Okie. Enough self reflection. Let’s do some power reflection. Hmmm. What can I do with this Bloodline?"
Alex shifted his focus to his new Bloodline.
[Original Causality].
’... Sick.’
The power he could use? Control Causality.
He got the information on how to control Causality. But how he does it, is completely up to him. It depends entirely on his creativity.
There was no Bloodline Art. No other techniques accompanying the Bloodline. Which was understandable. This Bloodline was given to him, or more like they were forced to give him for self defence. So it was natural that there were no Bloodline techniques. And besides, techniques are something the user of the Bloodline integrates with great sacrifice for the next generation to us.
It was foolish of him to think that he will get something.
"It’s like like Saika. Who doesn’t need external energy to use her Bloodline..."
He mused out loud. Remembering Saika, a wave of loss washed over him. He realised that now that he regressed, they have lost all the memories of him. Sadness filled his heart.
’So that’s why I felt reluctant...’
He also realised why he felt reluctant to regress. Not just Saika. But Aika, Nakashima, Salonika. He valued their connection. He wanted to be with them. He liked them.
"Hehehe~ I see~. I like them. Next time we meet, I will never let them go. Ehehehehehehe~"
Alex laughed eerily. He couldn’t stop his giggles even when he wanted to.
Imagining meeting up with them again filled Alex’s heart with immense glee. Making him forget all his previous grievance. His mood lifted up. He couldn’t wait to meet them. Alex licked his dry lips with a strange glint in his eyes.
But he calmed himself down and thought for a moment.
The time he went to Am city was around one month from now on. And the time he met with Saika was one month after that. Two months of time in total.
Alex rubbed his chin in contemplation. Calculating what to do. But it didn’t take long for him to decide that he will explore the Antarctic Desert. Saika had come here to raid some ancient runes. Maybe, out of pure luck, he could met them?
He wasn’t sure but he was sure that he will be exploring the desert. He will go to Am city near the time when the Abyssal Giants attack. Get Old man Preganos’s favor, ask for the same thing and met with the girls.
Alex was sure that their first meeting wasn’t going to be the same as last time.
But that’s for the future him to worry about. Right now, he will test his new powers.
"Let’s go Let’s go Let’s goOooOo~~"
Alex chanted in excitement. The things he could do now was [Multiplication] and [Nullification]. Multiply the effects of the cause and null the effects of the cause.
These two things were techniques. Not Alex knew if it will actually work or not. But based on his understanding of Causality, he should be able to. His understanding is limited and he had never thought too deep about something so abstract. But now he needs to because his survival depends on it.
He noted that just having powerful Bloodline doesn’t guarantee absolute strength. Alex didn’t feel invincible. He felt weak and extremely vulnerable.
He knew what kind of monsters live in the desert and what they can do. The one month he spent there roaming around hate been pure nightmare for him. It took him nearly a month to get used to the jumpsscarss and his absurd powers. Though it was just him trying to convince himself that he will not die and that other party will due instead.
"Ssss~~"
Alex inhaled a sharp breath then slowly letting it trickle out. His mind cleared of the distractions. He looked around in the desrt, just in case something jumped on him. He remembered that ugly Sand Worm that scared him out of his wits. That left a deep scar on him. His fear if bug making his hand shake a bit.
Looking at the ground, Alex gulped hard in unease. Just standing on the sand made hims feel like something is going to come out and attack him.
But he calmed his nerves and tried to focus on the matter at hand.
His throats felt a bit dry. But he wasn’t hungry. He wasn’t worried about neither food or water. Because there are many cactus around the area. He just needed to peal off the outer layer and a very delicious, testy and juicy interior comes out.
He had learned of these things from the Internet. People even risk their lives to get thse cactus as these cactus don’t grow near the Shore. The Shore cactus is normal.
The Sea Desert Cactus on the other hand is different. It only grows in the main lands of the Desert. Where powerful Sea Desert monster inhabit. Making it extremely dangerous as some monsters sit near the some cactus to hunt those who come near to eat.
Thus, the Sea Desert Cactus is a rare delicacy for the Antarctic folks. Only the rich can eat it. It’s good for health too.
So Alex wasn’t worried. But what he was worried about was not finding any strong foot hold. Because he suspected that there is a whole Worm colony underneath him. So he didn’t dare to move much.
But as long as he didn’t make noises that brought out the Sand Worms, everything was fine.
Under the scorching sun, Alex stood with his eyes closed. His skin getting reddish. His pale skin slowly turning red.
Ge was getting skin burn. But there was nothing he could do except endure... or is it?
Alex closely felt the [Effect] of the [Cause]. The the cause was the sunlight hitting his skin, heat generating and skin getting burnt as an effect.
So what does he need to do to nullify this effect?
Alex thought for while. He couldn’t come up with anything. In his head, if he cancelled the effect, where will the energy will go?
That question is the only thing that is keeping Alex from using his powers.
Alex thought and thought for a long time.
He soon realised a truth. With his understanding, he couldn’t do [Nullification] properly. He couldn’t even grasp the concept yet. But it gave Alex a critical breakthrough in his way of reasoning with things.
’I’m trying to reach peak when I haven’t even see the mountain yet.’
Alex opened his eyes with a new found understanding of his powers. To the current him, Nullification was practically impossible. Bur he can use [Multiplication]. That us within his capabilities.
So he focused again and tried to multiply the light reflection aspect of his cell but it didn’t work. He couldn’t imagine all his cells. Heck, he couldn’t even see or sense them. Which is obvious since he was basically a normal person at this point.
Then, Alex tried to increase the healing the healing aspect of his body. Which didn’t work as well. He frowned a bit but tried again. But failed again. After failing few times, frustration was rolling in when a thought struck him.
’What if... instead of starting small I just start big?’
Alex then imagined increase of the healing effect of his body. And this time, Alex felt something different. Nothing monumental happened but he definitely succeeded. His skin felt better than before. And the intense heat of the sun became much more bearable.
"Haha~. So the first thing u realised was actually wrong. Sigh~. So instead of starting from cellular level, I should have just done this sooner. Haaa~. I thought too highly of myself that I totally forgot about co trol and practice required to do something so subtle... Damn."
Alex thought bitterly. But he didn’t let it get to him as he learned something new today. Instead of always starting from small, some times, it’s best to start with a bang. Although he didn’t know when that realisation may come in handy but it didn’t hurt to be aware. After that, Alex stood their and quietly contemplated. He still didn’t dare to move much.
Because he would rather be eaten by a fish than by a Worm.
