Reincarnated into a Snow Griffin-Chapter 112
At some point in this fight she had changed her beautiful garments for a coat of thick red fur, her big earrings and red lipstick now on a pair of pointy ears and on a long snarly snout as she bounced back and forth between the floors and the walls, her long tails flowing like her hair behind her at every leap, pouncing towards my own attacks as, with my wind made weapons, I could reach farther than her claws and fangs, and the ice ones in the rare occasions she managed to get too close.
It is almost as if I am keeping a bull away by hitting my whip on the floor time and time again, but as much as I can keep the distance and only need a few moves from my wrist to have the weapon swirling back and forth, she still proves to be faster than a wind whip and manages to gain ground by the second, and I could sense that the situation is the same with those two behind me, our triangle getting smaller and smaller as their sheer number and speed pushes us back.
"The guards, the guards will come! We must do something!" Someone says in the back, it seems this place it’s not so savage after all as to not have some sort of security around, which probably has experienced a lot of action on their daily basis.
But something tells me they weren’t going to be much help in our situation, especially when I do not know which side there will be on, plus the fact that we are not only outnumbered but refraining ourselves from killing the foxes, the situation seems pretty dire.
"Sigh, seems like I’m still the only adult here." I mumbled to myself, being the only one to see how dire the situation is as the others are playfully battling around, smiling all the way.
And as such I will be the one to act on our behalf once more and lose the warm bed that I was looking forward to, and have to think that it is a small price to pay for completing this mission already.
Plus these foxes can smell an owl in hiding, and I am a little tired of avoiding my real self for the sake of disguise, as if all worked out here perhaps I would not need to come back to the sect and keep this façade at all.
So I burst my real self away and, as my wings cover my figure for a second in a close up embrace a big owl snow leopard griffin appears in place of my human self, paws stretched out and claws extended to meet one of her many launches attacks, and caught by surprise the red fox is unable to dodge midair and is meet face first with my big paws as I hit her hard to the side, making her back crush against hard bricks and a squeak to escape her lips.
For a leopard fighting a fox, the weight difference is already clear, but a griffin one adds to the amount, especially when, enraged, she does not use her fox powers to their utmost since they are better at long distance magical attacks than facing me off like this as she thought it would be an advantage to fight my human self up close.
Although it would be for naught too as for her spells bounce right back from my Ice Shield, and we soon meet a stalemate of her fire being hotter than my ice to melt it, or my ice being colder than her fire to put it out.
So troubling, I rather avoid all this drama so that`s just what I do, I force my wings to beat fast and take in air in such a small cramped space, using my strong hind legs to give me a bust up as I have to twist my body around and reverse where I’m heading only to give a high pitch warning as I extend my paws, being received by the surprised shocked face of most as they cover their ears.
But not Ethan.
He understands and soon passes the arm around the little black fox’s waist and, bringing him up and securing him in his embrace, extends his hand towards me and manages to grasp at my paw as I take them up in the air and beat my wings wildly until I manage to get away from the close up building and extend then fully, watching as the lady warrior Natasha smashed her way around the foxes, holding then back with her fierce wide moves and giving us time to get high enough that they could not reach us anymore, and only then do I see her puff away in a patch of red smoke, still hard to believe she is truly dead for how real she feels, and is not like I did not believe their words, but is weird to see such an intense full of life demon simply vanishing like a ghost, but I guess the comparison is not far from the mark.
"Curse you and your little games Kasumi! You are a cursed child and you cannot escape your fate, you will only bring those around you death and pain!" I hear the red fox curse and scream from bellow, nothing worse than a sore loser whining that does not deserve even a glance back, so that`s just what I do as I take the skies once more, fixing my gaze at the dark horizons and being annoyed at the warm bed that was stolen from me by this squirming bitch.
But my mother taught me better than this and I do not lose my cool because of it but instead, after taking a deep breath to calm myself down, counting to ten to balance my inner energy, I look over my shoulder at the two companions now sitting on my back, glancing at the fox looking over my shoulder with bewilderment towards the sky and far away landscapes and a hugging koala Ethan who dares not to let go of the fluffy fur of my back and shoulders, I ask Kasumi as he enjoyed the ride and the pleasures of flying high, well, if you are not afraid of heights that is:
"So... care to explain what we are supposed to expect down at the Ghost City?"
That question alone takes the bright smile off his face.
