Reincarnated into a Snow Griffin-Chapter 115
In the end that is all the information I’m able to gather from them as not only do they keep the avoidance and their friendly battlers up, but because of how long they keep that up and for how late it already was we ended up not going back to the Ghost City subject, and I guess there are things there are better experienced than explained.
The Endless Hunger, famish mist... sounds like tomorrow will be very promising indeed.
After not only fighting our way out of a mess and having to fly away while carrying these two weights on my back I had spent another entire scorching day in that hellish hot merchant city, so I have a very clear priority at the moment and, seemly that the talk was over and the fox had even fallen asleep and had his head supported by Natasha’s shoulder, I stood up to shower since I had not only seeing but could smell the water close even now, purposely landing close by.
Natasha and Ethan do not seem to hear me as they keep throwing sparks at each other so I end up simply just standing and walking away, my paws making no sound as I quietly leave, changing back to my humanoid form once I’m close enough to the water and had already descendent down towards it.
Is not a big river with everlasting flowing water and greats waterfalls but a rather small one, close to one of many sources of water around here with a single trimming line of water cascading down beautiful smooth round stones polished by years of running water, with the various shades of brown sculpting the side and the inside of that small pool of water.
The silver lines dancing along the underwater stones give the appearance of the bottom being filled with many crystals of different shapes and colors, and the clean water from the shallow part does not obscure its beauty and, in fact, brings it forth with a layer of glittering silver brought by the reflection of the moonlight against the water and stones.
Is quite mesmerizing and peaceful, just what I needed after the last days I had and before the already promising tomorrow.
But I’m here, right now, in this calm pool of water, taking my clothes off and laying them folded over the stone, and enjoying the lukewarm water warmed by the sun and being cooled by the night.
Just the right temperature for a Snow Griffin like myself to deep my human toes in, as the rest soon joins as I submerge my legs and feel my back muscles loosen and a sigh escaping my lips as I close my eyes for a second, enjoying the solitude and the silence.
The only thing is... the water seems deeper than I thought at first, dark and seemly bottomless especially in the dark, and the parts where I could see the beautiful stones being illuminated by the silver glint of the moon were too shallow for a proper bath so I find myself in a predicament, with my legs dangling inside the pool of water as my toes could almost feel the pulling strength that such dark deeps had on me.
Alluring as the touch of death.
The dried sweat and the grease that already has started to form on my hair and prompted me to come here in the first place did not allow my conscious to simply turn tail and back out from this, but once I set to move my body would simply freeze and my eyes would stare at the small piece of void that pool of water managed to have, dreading the water’s dept.
"What are you doing?" A voice sounds behind me, making me jump in place as I did not realize that I wasn’t alone anymore. "I mean, I know you’re a snow creature and all, but even you can freeze to death by doing that. Plus that’s not how you take a bath you know..."
The words and the tone of voice themselves were enough for me to tell who the speaker is, but that only makes me feel even more embarrassed by being caught half naked and hesitating to enter such harmless looking small pool of water out of fear.
I tried to cover myself the best way I can with my wings as I look away in embarrassment, glad that I hadn’t taken off the very thin inner robe yet, but the almost translucent white cloth wet at the edges did not cover much once soaked in water and actually looked even more alluring with its transparency gluing against my skin.
"I’m fine, just enjoying the scenery, that’s all." And yet even I did not believe my own lies as they burst out of me out of reflex in a monotone voice.
"Oh, is that so?" Ethan says, and I already know he won’t let this go by the mere sound of his voice. "Then I might as well stay with you so we can watch the stars together."
"Never thought you were the romantic type." I say, referring to watching the stars together, and yet such definition is even more fitting for his next actions as he acts like a gentleman and takes my hand on his and, for a moment, we truly just stay there, sitting beside each other and watching the stars as the heat from his fingers intertwining with mine reach up to my ears.
Without letting go of my hand, however, he pushes himself inside the water without making a fuss, and as I thought the water there is deep and is already high up to his chest. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"Who is the one looking to get sick now?" I say, trying to sound cheeky but somewhat truly worried about his condition as much as wondering what was he up to, getting wet with this cold wind.
He only smiles at me then, and without saying anything takes my other hand in his as we watch each other for a moment, and with a rare genuine sweet smile on his face and true logging and care shining in his eyes I caught myself staring back without any concerns, embarrassment, or second thoughts as we simply stood there, two creatures alive sharing our small existence together if only for a moment.
"You have been helping me with my own problems so far, Seraph, my sweet king, so please let me help you with yours too, uhm?" He says smoothly, and the sweet part of him that got me to stay with him the way we were right now it’s the one that lends me lower my guard down without fear or mistrust.
And that deep trust... is exhilarating.
