Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 114: Revolt Body
Chapter 114: Revolt Body
Jung knew something was off.
He couldn’t put his finger on it, but he felt his situation was out of the ordinary.
"Smells fishy."
His words trailed off, reaching towards the cat on his shoulder.
Nero was the only one he put his trust in.
No players, not Leora, and especially not the gods, were trustworthy in his eyes.
Somehow, he didn’t feel agitated over this.
As if, even if he was led and lied to, it was for his greater good, and this feeling came from deep inside.
He didn’t like this one bit.
It was an unusual situation, but he would act like a fool until he found out what was going on.
Looking at the cat, it didn’t seem like she shared the same premonition.
She was as calm and hateful as always.
Squinting his eyes, Jung clenched his fists, hitting the oppressive wall and generating loud noises.
His fingers ached, and his skin crawled in the wind.
He could differentiate the contrast between the temperature, the dust that covered his body, and even the vibrations through them.
’I can sense it better than ever,’ he thought but couldn’t explain how.
Jung knew his sense of touch had evolved, yet the reasons remained unknown.
Still, he had no intention of stopping as he bashed the wall nonstop, bloodying his hands.
The wounds closed right away.
His aching hands paled compared to the headache that had never left his mind.
Seeing how Jung operated, players resolved to aid him in unison, and they also bashed the wall in rhythm.
’This reminds me of the rock the rocks played.’
One memory surfaced in his head.
"What a dumbfuck. What are you doing?" Nero asked in her usual grouchy fashion.
Without halting his hands, Jung whispered,
"You are the dumb one if you can’t tell that something is going on."
The cat lowered her eyes.
"That’s not the best way to counter it."
"Any ideas?" he asked.
Shaking her head, Nero stood beside him and covered her paws with void energy.
She also whacked at the barricade mindlessly.
Soon, even Leora joined them, and hitting the black matter, she never took her eyes off him.
Only gods remained as the brothers stayed absent-minded.
"It’s futile," one of them said, but no one listened.
"You are wasting your time," another agreed with no reaction.
Yet Jung didn’t stop.
His hands, legs, and even head worked in harmony, trying to destroy the world before him.
Ten minutes passed, and nothing changed.
Twenty minutes later, players stopped their actions, too tired to keep going.
An hour later, Leora groaned, faltering her arms.
More time passed—minutes, hours, possibly days and weeks—but Jung and Nero didn’t consider stopping for even a fraction of a second.
Players, especially HugeP, assisted however they could, but after countless hours of attempts, most of them gave up.
"Work if you want my pills."
Jung roared, and Nero meowed angrily, using the cursed pills as a leash to enslave them.
His supply would run out at any time, but he couldn’t give up.
With no other options and trials to overcome, Jung kept his attitude and acting, not losing it for any reason whatsoever.
Somewhere along the way, the wall cracked deep inside.
It made no sound or physical manifestation, but Jung felt it between his fingertips.
Slowly but surely, he managed to drill the wall.
His persona was extinguished and filled up rapidly as his archetype progress increased, even if he had no clue about it.
Unimaginable time had passed since he and his lazy partner began their current business.
Jung saw how strong the cat became just by using her wizardly spells and abilities he had never seen before.
The cat also saw his passion and skyrocketed capabilities.
They conversed telepathically, sometimes roasting each other but sometimes laughing together.
"I look like a total nut case, right?" the cat questioned with a smile.
"Not you, but we..." Jung laughed to himself.
"That’s your usual state. You tell him as well."
Both of their hands shook upon hearing her words.
"Who am I talking to?" Nero said. "I felt like someone was with us, but..."
"You aren’t alone. I share the same feelings."
Now Nero shared his headache as if something was blocked in her brain that tried to dominate, tried to rule it.
She wanted to express it, show how much she had lost, but no words were formed in her head.
So she continued doing what she had been doing for quite some time now and smacked the wall with her paws.
"Don’t stop. You are on the right track. That’s the only way for you to achieve it."
Ori spoke suddenly, and Sami added,
"He is right. Don’t stop, no matter how painful or confusing it becomes. That’s what she wants. That’s what you want, and your sister needs."
They were silent for so long.
Finally uttering a word, they smiled at Jung, showing their genuine feelings.
Jung’s thoughts jumbled, head dizzy and heavy.
He nodded, too lazy to consider their reasons.
’If my mind isn’t playing tricks on me, they seem to be on my side. But who is she? Why is she helping me, and why don’t I remember her?’
He pondered, bashing his hands on the wall.
’Nero is in the same boat. She is lost as well. We lost someone who was connected to us.’
Then his brain overworked for a second, reminding him about persona and the weapons he could create with them.
The countless weapons he studied surfaced in his recollection, giving him ideas.
Not wasting time, Jung materialized an axe and a sword, holding them tightly.
While he felt the strength surging through them, it didn’t mean that it was an outside power.
As long as he manifested weapons and broke them upon hitting the barrier, his archetype progress rose even faster.
Now that his speed had increased, and the wall crumbled at a visible rate, he knew for sure that he was on the right track.
They didn’t give up, and hard work paid off.
Every hour they put in rewarded them with results, and when it ended, it caused unimaginable comfort and delight.
"We did it!" Jung screamed, high-fiving Nero... At least he tried.
There it was, the unbroken wall that they broke with sheer resolve.
It had only a small hole.
But it was enough for one human to squeeze himself in.
"I’m going first," he stated, and no one disagreed.
Kneeling before the hole, Jung went inside like a cave diver to greet something he was searching for, to find what he lost and meet the ruler god.
As soon as his feet crossed the wall, his headache worsened.
Thankfully, it lasted only for a second until it disappeared, as if it had never existed before.
"Finally! I’m free," he said as Nero appeared behind him.
She shared the experience and hopped on his shoulders, meowing happily and cutely.
Both of them got rid of the shackles that bind and weaken their minds.
The pain subsided.
The clarity was resurrected, bearing a sense of reason.
Something that blocked their mind palace faded from existence, leaving them without a single trace.
After that, Jung remembered specific events—particularly the moment he lost consciousness.
It had happened right after digesting the flesh Sami had given him.
Then he woke up, and everything had changed.
His thinking process was altered; Nero also got headaches as Jung’s intensified tenfold, and most of all...
The duo completely forgot about Vex.
It was as if her existence was hidden from them, and they couldn’t recall a single thing about her.
"You there?" Jung asked softly.
He felt quite bad for forgetting her; even if it was out of control, it didn’t change the fact that he neglected her.
Now he was glad and maybe slightly ashamed too.
Waiting carefully for her answer, Jung considered everything that had happened after losing her recollection.
He somewhat lost his mind, but at least saved some clarity to tell that something was off.
On the other hand, Nero’s emotions were completely different.
She was angrier than ever.
However, she didn’t blame Jung or the ruler god for it, but she hated herself and the weakness she displayed.
Her frustration wasn’t expressed via words but by pure anger.
No matter how much time had passed, Vex didn’t reply.
"She won’t come out yet," Ori said as he appeared before him without crawling through the hole. "Don’t ask me how I know. I still don’t understand who she is. I just know."
Here it was, another mystery Jung wanted to unravel.
Based on the way the god brothers acted, it didn’t seem like they knew what was going on.
Either the system did something or they were bluffing.
Jung believed in the former, and after glancing at players, Leora, and the gods, he chuckled and took his eyes back to the path he had to take.
After crossing the barricade, there was the snowy road he could take.
Fortunately, it was a short one, and the end of the road was easy to spot, which meant he could navigate it in a fairly short time.
He also spotted the imposing palace.
It contained every colour in existence and was so massive that the entire mountain seemed tiny in comparison.
Yet the gloomy, dark clouds surrounded it, giving a sinister vibe.
Before Jung walked towards it, he glanced back at Ori and Sami.
"I remember you saying that you came here to play with him. What if I go instead of you? With your appearance and all?"
Jung had a special ability to alter his avatar.
He could use it to become a god... At least on the surface and before the sage god answered, he summoned the status window as it still lingered in his being, even if Vex was disconnected.
