Chapter 120: Farewell

Hearing Nira’s statement, Jung agreed immediately.

"I want to see their dumb expressions as well, but I thought Ori would know about us," he said.

"No, he doesn’t. I didn’t tell him, and his godhood isn’t enough to peer into my secrets," she explained.

Nero sat on her shoulders, completely betraying Jung, and with a comfortable smile, she meowed.

"What a weird day it is. Who would have thought your fates were so intertwined? There is no way someone can beat us together. We are an unstoppable force."

She sounded eager, anticipating the apocalypse and the war it would bring.

However, instead of being concerned, she displayed confidence that everything would work out and Maskera would be safe.

"I need time to ascend again. My strength is limited right now, barely reaching lover god archetype status," Nira explained, gifting a smile to Jung as she spoke.

"Imagine being so powerful that godhood is just barely passable for you," he mused. "I am going to catch up to you, dear."

"I thought you would beg her to give you a lover archetype," Nero teased with a stern voice.

"Fuck off. I won’t. I need to do it by myself, and even if I did, I know she wouldn’t have agreed."

Then he glanced at Nira, waiting for her agreement, but she didn’t comment, watching them silently as if enjoying their usual banter.

"It’s good to be back," suddenly she said, squeezing Jung’s hand and exiting the building.

They were back on the familiar path.

"Don’t tell me we need to descend on that stupid mountain again," Nero asked in approaching despair.

"Why are you always so impatient, little one?" Nira touched her fur, caressing the cat’s back as she walked.

If Jung called her a little one, they would have to fight till one of them died, but when the system used it, Nero did not react whatsoever, letting her do as she pleased.

Shaking his head in frustration, Jung smiled regardless.

He genuinely loved the atmosphere and had no qualms about it.

His life was almost complete; all he needed was to get back to the planet, and everything should be okay after that.

So they strolled around to reach the broken wall and meet the sage and creator gods.

"Guys, come here!" he yelled even before seeing them. "Guess who is here with me?"

The answer came right away.

"Is it my lil sister?" He was good at guessing. "I am going to flick her forehead."

"Big sis?" Sami called out. "She is here?"

Approaching steps were heard, and they showed themselves, getting closer to the cohort.

Nira released Jung’s hand, running towards her brothers.

She was quick to hug them and get back to him before he started sulking.

"My stupid brothers, I missed you. It’s great to see you again, and I am proud of you for becoming gods without my help."

"It was nothing but a child’s work," the creator said smugly.

"Stop acting like a big shot. We all know it wasn’t easy to do, and she still helped us," the sage corrected him like a serious elder brother.

"I see you guys are still squabbling like kids. I am glad it didn’t change."

She was still holding Jung’s hand, which gained the attention of both brothers and instead of speculating or thinking, Ori asked,

"Are you guys together?"

"Wait, what?" Sami exclaimed. "This fucker and big sis? There is no way."

’Why is everyone so against me dating her?’ Jung mused but said nothing, enjoying their confusion and hatred towards him.

"I am his wife, and he is my husband. Got a problem with that?" Nira shouted cutely, clenching her fists threateningly.

"No, madam. I’m happy for you," Sami said, taking a step back. "As long as you are happy."

"What is that supposed to mean, brother-in-law?" Jung asked.

"Don’t talk to me," Sami said angrily.

As for Ori, he didn’t have much of a reaction, but confusion was at least one of them.

"Life is so chaotic and unexpected sometimes. Thankfully, I am the sage. If not, it would be too much for me."

Then he thought for a bit and asked,

"What about the ruler? Everything seemed peaceful. Don’t tell me he isn’t here, and I have to wait."

"He is no more," Nira said. "Dead and devoured. There is no ruler god in this world, and thanks for guiding Jung here, by the way."

"Wait, sis, you killed him?" Sami questioned in surprise.

"No, it wasn’t me," she answered while looking Jung in the eyes, but her intense stare created a misunderstanding.

"Did you really kill him? Damn, good job. I thought you were going to die there, not gonna lie. But, sis, you don’t have to thank us."

"It wasn’t me," Jung said, and Nira continued,

"My sister-in-law slayed him. You guys should already know about her."

"Wait, what?" This time it was Jung’s turn to be flabbergasted. "Elara did? But how?" ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"What a weird family," Ori said, massaging his neck.

"She is stronger than you give her credit for," Nira explained. "As soon as she cured herself, she used an opportunity to strike and finish him in one go."

’Elara? But she...’

Jung had a hard time believing that his adorable little sister had become a fearsome force.

She had studied in the academy not long ago, and to reach the necessary power, she had to grow at an unimaginable speed.

’Did she somehow aid her?’ he asked himself, darting his eyes toward Nira’s side profile.

’Damn, she is so pretty. I’m losing my concentration.’

"So what now?" Nero hopped back at Nira’s shoulders, not even glancing at Jung, but she was punished soon after he caught her tail and yanked her to the ground.

"What is this asshole doing?" she meowed, bashing at Jung with her head.

He was ready for her counterattack, but instead of sidestepping, he blocked her offense by taking a defensive stance and hitting her on the head.

As always, he was decisive, precise, and swift, successfully intercepting Nero.

But she wasn’t a pushover, either.

Nero quickly realized that her body slam would miss, and instead of surrendering, she controlled her frame in midair, dodging Jung’s persona-imbued fist.

The moment she touched the ground, she was about to commit another assault, but Nira took her in her hands and restrained the cat.

"You can fight later. We need to go back now," she instructed. "Nero, look after your friends, and Jung, you nanny your sidekicks."

"What for?" the duo asked simultaneously.

But after seeing her sparkling eyes, both of them did as they were told, telling players and cats to stay together and wait for whatever would happen.

"It’s gonna be a fairly straightforward process. All you need to do is not puke, because you might choke on that."

She said briefly, as her red hair and black clothes glowed.

The colors stayed the same, but their shade and intensity were augmented a lot, almost blinding the onlookers.

Jung was the only one who didn’t take his eyes off her.

He never did so after seeing her after all this time.

Then he glanced at his losers and said to them, "Hold hands with each other and don’t let go. We are going back."

As soon as he said it, players roared in excitement once again and obeyed.

Two minutes later, everything was ready, and before the light enveloped them, Nira asked her siblings,

"What about you? Are you guys coming as well? Or are you going back to your realms?"

Leora was with them as well, but she was silent, almost hiding behind the gods.

Ori genuinely looked like a tortoise with his hands as he waved them to tickle her head.

"How can you be all-knowing when even I have a hard time doing it?" He looked cheerful and delighted when he said that; there was no hint of jealousy in his voice.

Sami couldn’t hold back and hugged both of them, displaying his love.

It lasted for a minute as Nira was still holding Jung’s hand, refusing to let go under any circumstances.

After every farewell was said, Jung winked at his brothers-in-law mischievously.

Ori laughed at him, waving his hands, but Sami glared at him as if he wanted to slaughter him like a pig.

Leora didn’t act.

She was staying with gods, her future, and reasons unknown.

Jung spent only one glance at her and let her be.

He had no qualms about her, especially after being on top of the world with his happiness.

Just as the lightning flash danced in his eyes, Jung heard the Sage God’s calm yet demanding voice warning him.

"Look after my sister. I am leaving her in your hands."

Contrary to how unaffected he seemed, there was a soft spot in his heart that cared for his sister.

The blinding, colorful light enveloped everyone, while Jung nodded as if it were a promise and his declaration to protect her with his entire being.

’I will do it this time. She won’t die even if I did.’

His thoughts floated in his consciousness before he blacked out.

...

...

Jung’s eyesight was still darkened when he felt strength washing over him, giving him enough force to stand and open his eyes.

"Wake up, princess," Nira whispered in his ears, teasing him as she kissed him on the lips, instantly filling him with energy.
