Chapter 48: First Lessen

Astra said nothing.

He was silent and calm, his eyes darting to Jung as if trying to peer into them.

Then he nodded with a wide grin and said, "It’s in good shape. Thanks for asking."

Not surprised by his response, Jung asked in a friendly tone, "Can I sit with you? I want us to make up."

His voice was loud enough for onlookers to hear.

Yet Leora didn’t back down. "Don’t you dare!"

Her anger was intense, and nothing could calm her down.

"It’s okay, sis," Astra said to his twin sister. "But there is no need to talk like that to our friend."

The fake, almost expressionless, and arrogant smile never left his face.

"Friend?!" Leora exclaimed and stood up.

"I told you to stay still!" Astra warned in a cold voice, making his sister tremble in agitation.

After that, he looked at Jung once more and spoke.

"Don’t mind her; you know her temper issues. You can sit with us. Food is more delicious when you eat with people closer to you."

This entire time, Jung stood like he was waiting for permission, but he would have taken the seat even if both of them refused.

His motion was swift as he appeared next to Mira, who clearly felt uncomfortable because of what was happening at the table.

Even the constant stares made her anxious.

However, the same couldn’t be said about Ronan; the boy seemed as carefree and bored as always.

Nothing changed about him, except the wounds on his face, which had increased in number.

It was obvious why he would get beaten up, but Jung said nothing and enjoyed the food in peace.

After a while, all of them were done eating, creating a short time before their first lesson.

Mira tried to initiate a conversation, but only Jung was kind enough to entertain her; as for the others from the cohort, no one uttered a single word.

The scene was weird, predicting that something would happen, and Jung proved that.

He left his place and got close to Astra.

His actions appeared unplanned, as if he acted on impulse.

But it was more than just a spontaneous decision.

Putting his hands on Astra’s shoulders in a friendly manner, Jung whispered into his ear. "Are you scared?"

"No, I am not." Astra shook his head and answered loudly.

"You should be," Jung said; this time he didn’t hide his words. "I told you so." His gaze grew into a glare hunters used to size up their prey.

But his prey, the Chosen One, was no ordinary human.

Astra was a born killer and didn’t even flinch at Jung’s words.

With a slight nod, he left the room with Leora, leaving the last words behind. "I will consider your suggestion."

There was no fear or doubt in his mind.

The boy was confident, and Jung felt his hostile nature.

Nero was a good example that Jung adored cats, and even he loved to play around with his enemies just to make them suffer.

However, he wasn’t a psychopath like Astra and didn’t enjoy torturing others.

Jung only played with modesty; he had a style, proper morality, and knew that someone like Astra should never be left alone.

’He is a menace I must neutralize,’ Jung thought and considered some ideas on how to execute the Chosen One.

After all was said and done, Jung, Mira, and Ronan followed by other students, went to find their classroom.

It wasn’t hard to locate, as each floor had its own designated map showcasing all the facilities in the academy.

New students walked around like penguins, and a few tense minutes later, they finally uncovered their place.

What they found was a teacher standing in front of a closed door, waiting for their arrival.

"I see you all have decided to come together," said the professor.

Standing almost two meters tall, he had a grotesque hole in his forehead and a serious look on his face.

While his fashion sense was questionable at best, his broad shoulders and long black hair made him imposing and quite handsome as well.

Girls liked him despite his bizarre forehead wound. On the other hand, boys were jealous of the attention this teacher got and detested him entirely.

Astra and Leora were already in the room, and the professor led the others inside, speaking in a polite, soft yet profound tone. "Welcome to my humble auditorium," he said and showed them the way.

"Now sit comfortably and listen carefully." It seemed like he was demanding yet passionate about his work.

’Do all of these educators love their work?’ asked Jung to himself and sat between Ronan and Mira.

The twins completely isolated themselves from the cohort and made new connections.

Of course, the reason was Jung, and it was apparent both of them hated his guts.

Not that he would complain.

"My name is Gio, and I am an explorer." A voice, belonging to the professor, thundered in the room.

Students barely got enough time to look around, and most of them remained on their feet.

The room was huge, and magical particles danced everywhere.

Blue and purple hues dominated the arena where Gio stood, covering his clothes in a colourful wonder.

Despite being in an unusual environment, Jung only cared about the explorer and the pearls of wisdom he had to share. "This class will focus on guiding you through the principles behind each archetype."

’Sounds interesting,’ Jung thought, but in reality, he was bored by the rumblings he had to hear.

[You don’t need to listen to him,] Vex whispered in a soft voice.

[I didn’t bring you here to hear things you already knew.]

"And what do you want me to do?" Jung asked, feigning annoyance.

Nero stirred in his heart, meowing and rolling from one corner to another, she said. "Jung, go wild."

"That’s what I wanted to hear," he said to the cat and the system and stood up, leaving his seat and interrupting Gio when he wanted other students to introduce themselves.

In the very next second, Jung’s actions gained attention, causing others to yell out in shock.

"That guy is doing it again?" shouted a chubby boy who was hiding snacks in his mouth only moments ago.

"Is he going to ask about the magic trick?" said one girl as she played with her hair.

"Gio is going to beat him up!"

"Why is he interfering with the lecture? Is he asking for attention?"

Most of the students said nothing but waited for the professor to punish Jung.

Contrary to expectations, Gio didn’t act and only waited for Jung to arrive before him.

"I have heard about you," he said, massaging his temples and the hole in his forehead. "What do you want?"
