Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 50: Meeting Players
Chapter 50: Meeting Players
Jung was stunned to hear the principal mention Elara.
Terrifying tension gripped his head, and memories surfaced in his mind, causing him to answer with a smile.
"Since when did you know?" Jung asked this question because he wasn’t surprised that Lilia knew about him and his family’s history.
Even if records about Elara were gone, Baki and Lisa never stopped looking for her.
Their actions ought to have left some evidence, and for someone like the principal, it shouldn’t have been that difficult to discover them.
Her status wasn’t just for the show and with her Tier XI strength, she was a true powerhouse.
"I was waiting for a stronger reaction," Lilia teased as she licked her lips.
Locking eyes with the principal, Jung got closer and said, "Answer my question."
"As soon as I saw you," Lilia said, exuding a calm aura.
"And I know you didn’t come here to meet her. There was no leak about Elara, and based on my talks with Snowshade, I believe the Archeons chose you." ƒreewebɳovel.com
Jung gritted his teeth. ’Damn it.’
Snowshade had already talked, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if Lilia was trustworthy.
He had no idea how much he could risk with this woman, but the situation was already out of control.
’Might as well roll with it.’ Jung thought and came clean.
"I came here for opportunities. To better strengthen myself and protect Maskera and its people..."
Before Jung went on with his bullshit, Lilia cut him short; her mischievous eyes darted to Jung as if reaching into his deepest secrets.
"Both of us know your desire to save the world isn’t that strong."
Listening to her words, Jung understood something.
He wasn’t caught with his lies, which meant he had more cards to play. "But I want to protect my world, and I think that’s what matters."
"True..." Lilia said but added nothing, creating an even more unnerving atmosphere.
She just sipped green tea and smiled elegantly, as if their previous conversation had never happened.
"I have one favour to ask." Seeing that the matter was dropped, Jung decided to come back to it another time.
Before that, he had to go to the city, so he expressed his wish. "I want to leave the academy for a couple of hours. Can you help me with that?"
Lilia scrutinized him from head to toe as if trying to guess his reasons.
After careful consideration, she said with youthful innocence, "You have my permission... I will get someone to arrange your departure. But you have to get back before the nighttime."
Jung nodded, agreeing with her condition.
Five minutes later, their cups were empty, and both of them stood outside the office waiting for someone to guide Jung.
The waiting came to an end soon enough, and Walt, with his stupid white uniform, arrived. "My training is going well. I should be able to hide coins with no one noticing in one day."
He was excited when he said that and led the way to Jung.
They arrived at the biggest hall.
This place became quite familiar to Jung, but Walt shook his hand without wasting time, and the door appeared.
"You should be able to go on your own," the old man said. "I will meet you near the tower before the sun sets down."
Nothing had changed about the doors.
Even the emptiness inside appeared the same, and jumping inside, Jung found his way with relative ease.
After encountering the second floor and leaving the abyss, Jung reappeared in the real world, surrounded by city buildings, with the Arcane Tower looming above him.
As Nero was about to leap out of his heart, Jung warned, "Please wait for a couple of minutes."
He guessed Lilia wouldn’t send him without someone following him, and Nero’s appearance was beyond his plans.
"Sure. Tell me, when should I come out?" Nero said.
She didn’t act naughty, and waiting for Jung’s approval, she relaxed in his heart, idling without care.
"Is there any magical bug on me?" Jung asked Vex, eager for her response.
The system collected her thoughts.
Her main objective was to observe Jung, and direct intervention was strongly prohibited.
As for the reasons, even she had no clue.
Notably, the question Jung asked didn’t oppose her principles. [No one used tracking, reading, or binding abilities on you.]
Even after hearing that, Jung didn’t change his avatar.
There was no telling if someone was directly following him, and outright transforming his face would be a dumb move.
So, to counter any potential dangers, Jung dashed into the city, expecting to encounter a massive crowd just to conceal himself and change into Balatro.
Briskly running around the streets, moving through horde after horde, Jung reached his destination and obscured his short body with other people.
He did all of this while not losing his momentum, and his new appearance appeared in the blink of an eye.
Jung had a high perception.
Often, he couldn’t help but feel like someone was silently observing him, yet this current predicament proved the other way around, and if personnel from the academy truly watched him, they escaped his radar.
In all cases, Jung took a risk and emerged with his Balatro identity.
Something about this appearance made Jung feel more primordial sentiments.
It was understandable, as his current face mirrored the one he had in his first life.
Bringing old memories, Jung barely paid any attention to them.
Players occupied every corner of his mind, skyrocketing his desire to meet them.
Finding them didn’t challenge him, as he easily confronted them almost everywhere.
However, Jung wasn’t easily satisfied.
He required a huge crowd, and as he asked Nero to hop on his shoulders, he found the most bustling part of the city, halted his steps, and shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Players! On me, right this instant."
His voice was loud, covering the whole street and drawing the attention he aimed for.
