Chapter 52: Huge Progress

"Let’s start with rebel pills," Jung said, taking out all the capsules he could carry in his hand and swallowing them one by one.

Most of the players were Tier II, yet Tier I players were frequently seen.

This created a situation where the pills Jung gathered ranged from Tier I to Tier III.

As Jung devoured them without taking a break, the progression indicator started to rise.

However, the change wasn’t that great.

<Archetype Tier: IV

<Archetype Progress: 88%

Not losing the momentum, Jung kept ingesting until his throat hurt from all this gulping.

"Damn, this is exhausting. Are there any quicker and easier methods?" he asked two of his companions.

"There are no shortcuts. Stop wailing like a child and keep going," Nero said, brushing Jung’s complaints aside.

"Fuck you, Nero," Jung said in a sad tone and took out another batch of pills.

Within five minutes, he devoured everything from the rebel archetype.

Feeling exhausted and pleased at the same time, Jung glanced at his development.

<Archetype Tier: IV

<Archetype Progress: 96%

After devouring 69 pills, that was the result he got.

Knowing he wasn’t finished, Jung wasn’t dejected. On the contrary, he was more enthusiastic than ever.

He had about 80 wizard pills, which would be another hurdle he had to overcome.

"These low-level items are getting on my nerves," he said, but ate them with a remarkable appetite.

This time Jung spent nine minutes devouring his supply. They were more than enough to breakthrough, but his subsequent progress slowed down at an alarming rate.

<Archetype Tier: V

<Archetype Progress: 3%

On the other hand, Tier V was another major point for Jung.

He felt newfound power surging in his veins, strengthening his mind and body alike.

Even his persona capacity increased, boosting his destructiveness.

It didn’t end there. Heroic Barrier, the Arc he had yet to test, expanded persona energy, and his new capabilities would advance his defence even further.

"When do we start training against monsters?" Jung asked the system eagerly.

He wanted to fight and collect pills himself, and the higher tier of abominations he slayed, the better loot he would get.

And of course, he wanted to analyse Heroic Barrier and White Beard as well.

The latter was even more mysterious, creating anticipation in his heart.

[Tomorrow you will have the very first field trip.] Vex answered.

Even she was thrilled, but she had more to add. [And you are going to get another Arc for your Tier V advancement there.]

"Wait, I’m still getting them?" Jung asked in surprise.

After the fight between Archeons and the system, he thought that the only way for him to get more Arcs was through quests.

Being proved wrong, he was excited but understood that the field trip wouldn’t be a peaceful one.

There was no guarantee that things wouldn’t go south, yet Jung was okay with everything.

[You can still gain them at each breakthrough. There is no other condition, but you just have to wait,]

Vex explained in her usual manner.

"Wish I could join you," Nero said, trying to make Jung pity her.

Jung knew her game very well and said, "Don’t worry. You’re always with me, and I might need your help."

The short conversations went on.

As they didn’t last long, Jung summoned yet another batch of pills and ate them on the spot.

His progress was cut down, but even the smallest amount was welcomed.

The hero archetype spoils overhauled his inventory, and in total, he had 111 pills.

Most of those were Tier I and Tier II, but he had at least half a dozen Tier III.

Even if their value dropped, Jung still devoured them deliciously.

On this occasion, he spent fifteen minutes, and afterwards, he hated breathing as his throat ached.

<Archetype Tier: V

<Archetype Progress: 8%

Nonetheless, Jung was content with how his first small fraud turned out in Arcane City.

’I’m going to make more when HugeP arrives.’ Jung thought. ’I need money as well. There’s no Messiah with holes in his pockets.’

Saving the world demanded some capital.

Even if Jung got all the resources for free, there was no assurance he would just be able to locate Elara and protect her along with the entire world if he didn’t have enough money to back him up.

After his greedy thoughts surfaced, Jung remembered something.

<Shifting Cloud Stage: 0/5

Progress: 82%

After obliterating players and devouring their bodies, it only went up by a measly three percent, but Jung was confident that the field trip and the monsters he would encounter would be enough to upgrade his Arc.

Then he checked his inventory.

As players not only dropped taming pills but now even more, Jung found things that caught his attention.

Just as he was thinking about the money, Jung got it from players.

Snow coins filled his stash.

Baki and Lisa gave him more than that when he left, and he even got a couple of Ember coins, but they were nowhere near enough for his plans.

Experiencing how hard it was to make money in this world, Jung respected his parents even more.

The few coins they offered him showed how much they truly loved and cared for him.

Jung devoted a good five minutes to counting them.

After he was done, he spent another five minutes looking through various items he collected from the players.

To summarize, most of them were useless, empty flasks or armour he couldn’t wear because of the restrictions the second system put on them.

According to Vex, she could easily bypass that lock, but Jung found no need for that as most of the armours were low-tier and weren’t worth his efforts.

However, Jung encountered two items that interested him. One was a piece of equipment he would gladly use.

[Redless Boots] Tier II

-Boots that slightly improve movement speed.

’It seems like items that were designed for players use tier structures.’ Jung thought and wore them right away.

Vex didn’t even spend a minute unlocking them.

"Can you feed me my pills?" Nero pleaded out of nowhere, feeling drained from all this waiting.

Meanwhile, Jung was inspecting the second item and promised the cat to satisfy her hunger in two minutes.

"I’m going to check this last object, and sure," he said, and opened the information for the magical lantern.

[Truth Lantern] Tier I
