Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 53: Returning To The Academy
Chapter 53: Returning To The Academy
[Truth Lantern] Tier I

-Collects deaths and transforms them into answers.
"Why the fuck is every single description so short?" Jung asked Vex in annoyance. "You are getting lazy."
"She was always like that, and don’t talk to her that way, you prick."
Nero shielded the system from the evil guy and continued.
"I know what that item does. I’ve even used one before. You kill, raise the indicator, and you can ask one question as soon as it reaches the counter. Seeing its Tier I, it will be destroyed after one use."
Her explanation was more precise, yet the system only listened and said nothing.
’I can use it to find out Elara’s whereabouts, but what’s wrong with her?’ Jung thought and observed Nero, who was watching him eagerly.
She was waiting for her turn to enjoy taming pills.
Jung didn’t make her suffer anymore, so summoning pills from the inventory, he presented them to the cat.
"You can eat them, but should we just save at least one for emergencies? Who knows when we will find dungeons or when the system might demand it?"
[There is no need for that,] Vex said this time.
[My expansion can handle dungeons, and you won’t have to spend taming pills for that. As for energy, I can suck it out of you so you don’t have to worry about that.]
"Sweetie, are you alright? You sound... how do I say, agitated? Are you on your peri..."
Jung’s question and hateful attitude were cut short when Nero smacked him on the back of his head.
It wasn’t your average, friendly strike.
Not only did Jung lose his footing, but his knees trembled, his vision blurred, and his head hurt like crazy.
With no words to express his displeasure, he only thought in solitude and gave Nero the treats she had asked for.
After getting what she wanted, the cat spent the next three minutes devouring the pills happily. Slaying players wasn’t just for pleasant activity; it brought the progress Nero needed to lift her curse.

Nero’s progress was slower than Jung’s.
However, she didn’t lose heart for that reason; believing in her success, she was delighted and eager for more.
Rubbing his head, Jung noticed her emotions and said, "We are getting there, buddy."
"I know," the cat said, licking her paws. "It’s just too slow, we have to massacre lots of them."
If poor players heard their conversation, they would probably lose their minds. Fortunately, no one was in the alleyway Jung chose to hide in, and not a single soul had listened to their ramblings.
"I have plans for that," Jung said, referring to slaying players.
Truth be told, Jung wasn’t a planner, he only had goals and aspirations.
Yet he consistently acted upon them and never did something he truly didn’t want to do.
Nero knew this. She understood Jung’s nature better than anyone.
Vex didn’t count as she had seen almost all of Jung’s lives and most of the time didn’t comment on his actions.
The cat appreciated Jung’s words and put her hopes in him.
Out there on the horizon, a small shining light lingered in the sky, waiting for its time to hide behind the darkness.
The sun crept closer to the boundary; a few hours were left until Jung had to meet Walt.
"Let’s hurry," he said to Nero and sprinted into the crowd.
"You have to hide again. Sorry about that," Jung declared.
Swaying her head, the cat obeyed his commands and holed up in Jung’s heart.
After concealing himself along with the newfound boots that boosted his movement speed, Balatro’s appearance changed into a 13-year-old boy along with his clothes, completely masking his older version.
Jung emerged and dashed to the Arcane Tower.
Even if his memory was bad, and he didn’t remember the roads, the tall building played the role of the lighthouse and guided his path.
Streets were busy with people, and players moved around, but as Jung’s footwork was swift and precise, he reached the destination and found Walt waiting for him.
The older man had changed his clothing.
He no longer wore his outrageous white suit but radiated a friendly aura. "How was your trip?" he asked Jung and materialized the door.
Waiting for his question, Jung answered intently. "It was good. I had some errands to run, and thankfully no one caught me."
He deliberately emphasized the second part.
Showcasing and testing his knowledge that he might have been followed.
Walt was good at hiding his emotions; the man didn’t react to Jung’s words and led the boy to the abyss.
On the way to the academy, the old man spoke. "I practised while you were gone, and boom, I can do it."
Having said that, the man showed his tricks inside the abyss, and proud of his achievements, he boasted without taking a break.
The trick Jung taught him was all about agility, and as the man was proficient in this aspect, he didn’t require too much training to reach his goal.
There was another important revelation.
’He didn’t catch my breakthrough.’ Jung thought and pondered about his mother.
Lisa was the only person who could spot his improvements, even when someone like Tier IX could not do it.
Remembering that the system was probably responsible for hiding his progress, he kept moving.
As soon as Jung emerged in the enormous hall, he said goodbye to Walt and went to the training grounds.
He missed a full day’s worth of lessons, and the least he could do was use the excellent equipment the academy offered.
’I’m not the only hard-working person.’ Jung realized after arriving at the floor and saw how busy everyone looked.
Most of those students were his classmates who came to the gym even after the lessons and dedicated their time to further improve themselves.
Yet, the student that should have been here and practised the most wasn’t present.
Astra, the Chosen One whose role was to protect the world, was somewhere else, slacking off and wasting the precious opportunity.
"Are you sure the Archeons selected him?" Jung asked the system, doubting how they could possibly pick out a guy like him.
[You saw the quest notification yourself.] Vex answered in her usual softness.
’I am going to do something about him on this field trip,’ he decided.
Walking through the training grounds, Jung shook his head in disapproval, eyed Ronan, who practised all alone, and said to him,
"Wanna spar with me?"
