Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 82: Pill Merging
Chapter 82: Pill Merging
"Bon appetit!" he added, still not showing his sincere intent.
Confused and conflicted, Nero darted her gaze from Jung to the pills.
"I am losing motivation," the cat stated. "Now I feel sorry for you."
Smiling meekly, Jung shook his head. "It’s late for your sympathy. Have fun devouring all of them."
Though he had special knowledge and knew how to merge pills to make her job countless times easier, he didn’t have to use that.
A slight inconvenience wouldn’t change much.
’May you suffer, my little friend,’ Jung thought in his heart.
And as Nero’s gag reflexes activated before she even ingested the first pill, the system opened her mouth, crumbling his ploys.
[Nero, you don’t have to struggle. Jung knows how to make your job easier,] she said, but added without stopping.
[Yet he didn’t do it from the very beginning. Perhaps he wishes you to go through the same agony.]
No additional details were needed.
The deed was done, and with tearful eyes, the void enveloped Nero’s paws.
"You need a good beating," she spat angrily, swinging her cute yet dangerous palm in Jung’s direction.
Disappointment surfaced in his being, but he was ready for the attack and dodged it by jumping out of bed.
"Be careful! You are going to destroy the room," he roared at the cat.
"I don’t care until your insolence is punished. Give me your butt; I am going to slap you to death."
Nero wasn’t joking around.
She hopped out of bed, nearing Jung with steady steps.
"Don’t act up. You still need my help."
With no options equipped, Jung used his only bargaining chip.
And it worked.
The cat slowed down, even if her attitude screamed at him. "Do what you have to do."
Even her angry voice was adorable. It was hard to take her seriously, but Jung didn’t want to argue.
His plans went down the drain, but at least he could test how this pill merging worked.
"I am going to slap you no matter what," he reminded his promise to the system and collected pills from the bed.
Then he tried the same pattern he had seen when this new knowledge appeared in his mind.
It wasn’t super complicated, yet it still demanded his full concentration.
Persona left his fingertips, touching the pills and entering inside; Jung controlled their path and energy consumption.
He had to create or find links between them, and then he had to connect them.
Taking his sweet time, sweat dropped on his forehead, but even with the strain on his brain, Jung enjoyed the process.
It was a magical situation.
He felt like a forger, and the entire experience was new to him.
After two minutes of constant struggle, his first batch of pills was completed.

-Not-so-great pills created by poor merging skills. At least it’s better than average pills.
He merged ten wizard archetype taming pills but couldn’t get the results he was hoping for.
"It’s not a Goated rank," he said, and not losing motivation, asked, "How does this ranking system even work?"
[It’s just something I made up. There are no rankings except tiers,] Vex answered proudly.
"I see," Jung said, instantly going back to merging.
Nero took this superior taming pill and was quite surprised by its effect.
Cursefell progress increased by a whopping 5%, and it was only a superior-grade pill.
Even if it was a wizard archetype, it was great progress for her.
So she waited in silence, eyeing Jung as he was fully immersed in his new studies.
After so many experiences, it was hard for him to wholeheartedly enjoy something.
Everything quickly became boring, and he constantly needed something new.
Finally, he found a completely new field he could deep dive into and lose himself.
A materialized persona covered his fingers, and they swiftly found the way to the pills.
Beforehand, Jung thought of them as a pure energy source and nothing more.
But after learning more about them, he discovered something that no books mentioned and was unknown, at the very least for him.
Pills weren’t created solely for tier advancement.
If one understood their true nature, one could purify the persona in one’s body.
It didn’t sound too grand, but the more purified persona meant an individual had more energy, similar to their archetype.
All in all, it meant Jung could purify them and gain even more potent energy.
In Nero’s case, he could feed her with an energy that could further enhance her wizard archetype.
There were specially designed limitations to the pills.
Someone nerfed their full potential, and it was the same for ordinary pills, meaning taming pills weren’t an exception.
Luckily, Jung found out about these limitations, and he could gain access to the more advanced version of pills.
"If I purified pills, what sort of persona archetype would I get?" he thought.
[Bingo!] announced the system, agreeing and hinting at Jung at the same time.
"I think you might get kissed after the slaps I promised," Jung joked happily.
If his control over persona and pill merging became more advanced, he could potentially gain energy for the Keeper archetype.
Not only would this accelerate his progression, but even his power would also increase manyfold.
Every other archetype except the keeper was a secondary source of his true identity.
Unleashing the keeper was his sole option to make himself strong enough to stand against the gods or even the Archeons.
However, it was too soon for him to achieve that level of control.
He still needed more practice and a deeper understanding of the world.
Yet just being on the right trajectory meant a lot to him, and even the beginning was part of his journey.
Now, he had to look after Nero and create the purest and most powerful pills in existence.
He was expecting the "Ding!" sound, but it seemed the system wasn’t easily predictable, and there were no additional rewards.
"I am totally fine with that," he said, showcasing his new batch of creations.
