Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 85: Bullshitting And Extortion
Chapter 85: Bullshitting And Extortion
"So, tell me, what business do you have with me?" Jung asked the woman.
He waited for the answer as his heartbeat and breathing became rapid.
After he stopped working, his mind was no longer occupied by the pills, and tiredness caught up with him.
Even though Jung was good at masking his well-being, Snowshade carefully scrutinized him and said, "What’s wrong with you? You reek, look like a mummy, and are too exhausted to move."
Her observations were spot on, but she had more to add.
"You haven’t changed your clothes, right? Don’t tell me you haven’t slept since we came back."
Surrendering, Jung raised his hands to the sky.
"Okay, I lost. You got me," he said, not bothered because she read him like a book.
But it was only the first page.
"Why? What were you doing?" she continued with her questions.
During this time, Lilia remained silent, yet her eyes never paused, searching for clues.
"My usual routine. Just me being myself. Nothing more or nothing less."
Jung answered, his forced, mysterious aura still present.
Now it was time for Lilia to get involved, and she asked.
"Are you going to keep playing, or can you hold at least one civil conversation, like an adult?"
She was serious. Her calm but unrestrained voice, clenched fists, and lowered eyes were proof of that.
"I guess you are set on making me an adult." Jung still joked, but fully understanding the gravity behind the situation, he stated.
"Can we go outside for a bit? We can walk and talk at the same time."
Snowshade glanced at him, then at Nero, and lastly at the principal.
Seeing those expressions, she nodded and guided them to the yard.
There was a peaceful atmosphere, created with greenery, clean air, and majestic views.
The garden was enormous, stretching for hundreds of kilometres; it could easily count as a park.
It was a perfect environment for this important event.
The conversation was delayed for various reasons, but the main cause was always Jung.
"How do you know you are Messiah, and what is your purpose?"
Lilia asked out of nowhere.
But there were colourless and mirrored magical particles floating around her, revealing her use of skills.
Jung could neither feel nor explain what she was doing.
He couldn’t even tell any changes in Nero and Snowshade.
The woman herself was still serious.
She was clearly seeking answers, and if Jung didn’t cooperate, she would use force to make him spill his beans.
So, not to shoot his own foot, Jung darted his gaze between the woman and lied through his teeth.
"Right before the prophecy arrived and dictated the end of the world, they came to me."
He started brewing the most bullshitty story of all.
"Archeons didn’t come in person but showed me the ruined Maskera. It would have been our future if it wasn’t for me, yet actually preventing that outcome won’t be easy."
"According to their words, they selected me as the sole Messiah, and based on their beliefs, I am the only one who could take this role..."
His ramblings didn’t end there. It was too soon for that, and he described the voices he had heard, the talent and blessings they had given him.
Of course, everything he said was pure fantasy, a falsehood he came up with.
Jung didn’t care if they trusted him.
Even if there was doubt, he was going to prove himself with his strength and development.
"And what is your plan? Did they give you directions or advice on how to proceed forward?"
The principal’s interest never wavered. She had an investigation to do and wouldn’t give up till Jung said everything that needed to be said.
"Nope. Nothing of the sort happened," he stated.
"But I know when the second Fracture starts."
They were strolling around when Snowshade, hearing his words, almost screamed.
"What? How come you have never mentioned it? What is it? How much time do we have left?"
She demanded to get every detail possible.
"Five years," Jung said shortly, showing five fingers with his hand.
Lilia snorted in displeasure. "That’s sooner than I hoped."
Then she thought for a moment. Countless possibilities ran through her mind, thinking about what Jung had described only seconds before.
However, the information was still insufficient.
Especially the Archeons part.
Their actions were too suspicious, sudden, and subtle.
Choosing a mere child for this important role and barely telling him anything sounded like a wrong move.
This, or Jung was hiding something, and it wasn’t a little thing.
Still, there was nothing they could do except listen to his explanations.
"We all know that immortals are going to play a huge role in this upcoming apocalypse,"
Jung said, knowing that Snowshade would have mentioned to Lilia about his connection to the players, and based on her reaction, he confirmed his theory to be correct.
"I will tame them and create a huge fighting force with them."
Then he paused, looked at Nero, and smiled.
"That’s not the end. My little friend is part of the old species, but I am going to revive them. I know they can assist us."
Before the woman could cut him off, Jung smacked his chest and said confidently.
"And there is me. The supreme human, someone who would reach the realm of gods and protect this world."
His tone constantly shifted from jokes to seriousness.
"So if you plan to aid me on this terrifying journey, you better feed me with resources and let me use that Arcane Chamber of yours to my heart’s content."
Snowshade coughed. Lilia massaged her temples.
The latter said after the boy finally went quiet, "Let me talk, dammit. How come you barely shut your mouth when I had to drag you out to make you speak?"
She was frustrated with Jung, who shrugged his shoulders and added nothing.
Snowshade wanted to say something as well before innocent Lilia scolded Jung for being a scoundrel.
"We came here to take you to the Arcane Chamber. Our objective is to see your results and decide how to cultivate your talents."
