Chapter 94: HugeP’s Arrival

"It’s free of charge... Bon appetit!" he said, taking out the corresponding Tier IV pills and offering them with a wicked smile.

The sage player was the first one to take it.

She studied it with interest and found nothing unusual about it.

Then, their system presented a quest notification and explained the properties of those pills.

Yet, there was one simple misjudgment...

A small mistake their system would make and wouldn’t explain anything about the curse and how addictive it was.

Vex was the sole reason for that.

She could manipulate and hide the real value, and the Pill Curser was capable of that.

So, with no concern about getting caught, Jung presented and distributed them to the party members.

Reading the item description and getting excited, the sage ingested it and waited for the effect.

The imprint was immediate, and her progression bar changed.

"It’s true!" she exclaimed, "I am Tier V now."

She advanced an entire tier, and even though she knew it was temporary, the value of this item reached tremendous heights in her eyes.

Every boss fight or even minor skirmish would find it a necessary addition to the team.

Jung knew how their minds worked and aimed at their weak point.

"I don’t know how long it will last, but it should be more than a day. However, I have limited stock and can’t sell more than one for each player."

Hearing his words, the remaining party members downed the pill without second thoughts.

They also experienced the same joy.

As for the onlooker players, they saw and heard how magnificent the product Balatro was promoting.

Their eyes shone with greed, and they barely contained themselves from cutting in line.

"Twenty pills for one pill of the same tier,"

Jung repeated the prices and was about to make a slight addition when the system interrupted.

[Ask for every pill. You will need all of them.]

"Is it connected to why you brought me here?" he asked because he was happy with variety anyway, especially after the Deep Merge arc.

[Yes, it is,] the system answered, yet she added nothing.

’She is aiding me more and more. How the times have changed?!’

Reminiscing, he thought and darted his eyes to the players.

They looked back at him with glowing eyes.

Their usual violent attitude that gamers were known for was nowhere to be seen.

Appearing like lost puppies, they calmly waited for their turn, afraid that Jung would be offended and slaughter them on the spot.

"They are already in my clutches. I already tamed them."

He said happily to Nero and the system.

"It’s thanks to Vex," the cat said grumpily, "These losers were yours from the very beginning. You just put a collar on them. But took you long enough."

As Jung shook his head, the system said in her eternal voice.

[It’s also thanks to your guidance. If not for you, he would have been a lost cause ages ago.]

Ass-kissing never ceased between the two, and disregarding them, Jung paid his full attention to his sidekicks.

He traded pills one after another, and slowly but surely, his supply increased...

On the other hand, his cursed items ran out with each passing second, proving how highly demanded they were.

Soon, he got at least 100 pills for each archetype.

The everyman was the most common, netting him 440 pills.

As for the rulers, they were the rarest of the bunch, and he got only 120 of them.

Most of the players were Tier IV, and even if individually those pills meant nothing, Jung got thousands of them, and he could even merge them to further increase their progress output.

Snowshade watched this madness from afar.

She had never seen such craziness in her life, and based on the immortals’ reaction, they feared and respected Jung.

That was the most confusing fact.

How could immortals, people who dared to destroy the cities and fight against monsters with no fear of death, be frightened by a single human?

"Come on, guys, hurry. Don’t tell me that I already dried your pockets. And here I thought I had to limit my transactions."

Jung’s voice echoed in the crowded street.

Players didn’t own huge amounts of pills because they used them straight away or exchanged them for other items.

So his freshly created cursed drugs couldn’t be sold.

However, he wasn’t kind enough to discount them, leaving the price as it was.

"I am disappointed. This isn’t the right mindset. You should grind more, work, fight, and obtain more pills for me."

He tried to sound inspirational, but the most he could achieve was to speak like a prick uncle.

Yet, he knew it would work.

Players had a certain mentality, and their greed mirrored his own.

Jung believed that with enough push, he could motivate them to farm pills for him.

He wasn’t wrong.

Seeing their reactions and the passion his speech created, all he needed to do was wait for the next meeting with an abundant amount of cursed pills to fill his inventory.

"Now fuck off!" he yelled, startling the players. "Leave some space for me to breathe and go get some pills, you slackers."

No one wanted to leave, but as the new batch of players arrived and Jung showed his axe, they obeyed his command and made room.

Also, they were excited, hoping to test their new tier.

Some of them left the scene to start grinding, and new players bought pills from Jung.

Soon, his stock ran out, and he was left with nothing more to sell.

He could create more of them, but he had no interest in showing his methods and decided against it.

Lilia would present him with more resources anyway, and he didn’t have to hurry that much.

Then, murmuring could be heard all around.

Jung picked up the words and guessed HugeP’s arrival.

A smile plastered on his face as he said loudly, "Let him come! Here he is, my number one sidekick!"
