Reincarnated With An SSS-Rank Talent In An Apocalyptic World-Chapter 62: Resolve
Chapter 62: Resolve
Men dream to find the face of God. I dream to become God.
---
Stepping through my dark rift, I returned to my castle grounds. As soon as I reached the staircase leading to the towering castle doors, I turned around and sat on it.
Slowly, the stone gargoyles dragged in the massive corpse of the Cradle Maw with them.
Bam!
They left the corpse in front of the entrance and quickly flew back to their posts without saying a word. Meanwhile, Lord Ravus stepped through the portal and gave the corpse one glance before shifting his gaze to me.
It seemed like he was asking for orders. I felt he was unsatisfied with the role he played in the fight, only stepping in when it was time to deliver the final blow.
"Sorry about that. I’ll make sure you are in the starting lineup next time they attack." I shrugged off his annoyed gaze. "You can head back now... I’ll call you when I need you."
Lord Ravus grunted disapprovingly but still walked past me, smacking my doors open begrudgingly.
"Don’t break my fucking doors. I paid ten thousand experience points for that!" I yelled but didn’t bother looking back.
Huff!
Exhaling loudly, I looked towards the thick clouds and sighed. The battle ended in victory, and I successfully won the heart of the people, but I wasn’t satisfied.
This victory wasn’t won because I was strong. It was earned because the enemy came unprepared, unsure of what to expect.
They expected Lord Ravus or no resistance at all. My appearance threw them off guard, they didn’t know what to expect, so I took advantage of that to catch them off guard.
Will that work a second time?
Are those two the only ones, or was there someone else observing from the distance?
Someone I couldn’t notice?
I couldn’t ignore all those possibilities.

Going through the list of abilities, I found out a few things. Not only were dark abilities costly, they were the deadliest I have seen so far.
You would expect me to be happy, but I felt dread and fear. I’m a relatively new GateKeeper, a weak one at that, yet I had enough abilities to outclass most Limitless.
In fact, it’s safe to say I’m as strong as a professional Limitless. Probably close to Pamela’s level now — and all this was achieved in a short span of time.
"How strong is Lee Bai?"
That was the question that plagued my mind. How strong is the man who became the first Limitless to conquer a territory in a peak realm?
No matter how many victories I won, I fell deeper into despair.
"I understand now. The suffering you’ll face will be ten times worse than what you made us go through. I’ll take that as a consolation."
Lord Ravus’s final words echoed in my head. Back then, I didn’t pay much heed to his words, but now I couldn’t get them off my mind.
Every time I grew stronger, I couldn’t help but wonder who else was getting stronger.
The existence of GateKeepers was not a collaboration. It was a competition. That was why the system was desperate to get me out of Louisiana — because Lee Bai was present.
Huff!
I pushed the thought aside and looked toward the walls. I could still hear the sound of celebration going on in the empire.
"It’s not even an empire," I muttered.
After flying over it, I understood this was nothing but the capital of the empire. I suspected the rest of it had fallen to these monsters already, and the last survivors had been boxed in here for years.
"We will change all that!" My eyes lit up as I rose to my feet.
If I want to grow fast, I can’t remain on the defensive — I need to take the offensive and reclaim territories.
"I can’t sit here and whine like a bitch all day... I’ll take the initiative. I’ll strengthen my empire. I’ll expand my territory, and I’ll improve my strength rapidly in the process!" I snarled decisively while looking toward the heavens.
I refuse to wait for death.
I refuse to wait to be invaded.
I’ll strengthen myself fast, and I’ll take the initiative to invade the territories of other GateKeepers.
I will not lose!.
